"Law & Order" to return to NBC next month

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Law & Order" will rejoin NBC's schedule in January, with two additions to the cast, along with recycled episodes of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," which had been relegated to USA Network.

The 18th season of "Law & Order," featuring Jeremy Sisto as a new detective and Linus Roache as a prosecutor, will kick off with a two-hour premiere Wednesday January 2 and reclaim its longtime Wednesday 10 p.m. slot the following week, when "Criminal Intent" launches as its lead-in at 9 p.m.

Both shows were the subject of intense cancellation speculation last season because of low ratings. "Law & Order," which suffered when it was shifted from its longtime Wednesday berth to the Friday dead zone, made the cut. But first run episodes of spinoff "Criminal Intent" were moved to sister cable network USA.

So, it's returning to NBC? I liked it so much on USA...

CI will still air on USA first, but will also be double billed with L&O on NBC. I think it's good for both shows.

Indeed. I'm just glad that they're not changing stations in the middle of the year or something dumb like that. I didn't think they would, but sometimes the ppl in charge can seem a little out of touch at the best of times, and with the strike on, who knows how crazy they're getting...

USA will still be airing the new episodes first. The second half of the season would start in the spring if production resumes on time.

I'm happy about it. That means the people who don't get satellite or cable can see the new ones and it's twice as much CI for all. I'm looking forward to it.

Maybe now LOCI can stop being the read-headed step child...as if...

Thanks, NBC. The more venues we have, the more support we can establish for LOCI. Thanks for the info, ADMIN.

Spring?

Spring???

Do we at least get our last Goren ep before "spring", does anyone know? (I thought they wrapped shooting on 11/30/07.)

This seems almost as long as we have to wait during the normal summer hiatus... and that's IF the writer's strike ends soon.

Argh!

Think we will need therapy, well Gorens suspension will be over, and hopefully over his break, and VDO will have lots of time with his new baby.

If we HAVE to go without new eps for this long, at least that is a bright spot for VDO. He can spend time with the new little one.

Do we know if they're having a boy or a girl?

I think its gonna be great for the ratings on USA cuz its going to catch up
some of the viewers that didn't follow the move to USA and maybe attract some new ones. I think this is gonna be a good thing for the show I cant wait until the show comes back on NBC

yeah it would stink for those of us who have kept up with the show, but i think it would be a good thing for all the people who got let behind when the show left NBC. it will be a good chance for all those viewers to catch up and maybe rejoin the show on USA

Being the fanatically private man that he is, I'd be very surprised if that news leaked out. I noticed when he was on the red carpet talking to those four lovely people the other morning (sorry: show's name has totally run off without a permission slip) he neatly sidestepped the question "When is the baby due?" by replying "It's so nice to be here with the four of you!"

I admire that guy biggrin.gif (but then, you already guessed that, right?)

Good for him for working so hard to keep his private life private.

If anybody here has any idea about when the baby will be, we could start a pool -- when and what. Winner gets bragging rights.....

I'm guessing that was the Today Show on NBC, the day Untethered aired. Which would have been... December 6? Not that I'm focused or anything. wink.gif

That's right! I'd forgotten the Noth's are expecting, too! Looks like our 2 boys have been very busy in their private lives! Nice to know that some in the entertainment industry have happy, successful marriages!

Maybe the D's will have a girl, and the 2 could grow up together, fall in love, and "unite the kingdom" so to speak? lol

Just to get this mostly back on topic watching reruns of any CI episodes on any broadcast or cable television is 100% strike kosher and our writers (and directors and actors) get residuals they are happy with for these. Ditto the 10 new episodes of the mothership set to return to NBC, which will be some of the few new scripted TV episodes in 2008 (unless of course the parties finally come to an agreement that all can live with).

I just hope, all these new shows coming on in the new year don't hurt the strike.

When I was watching NBC last night they were talking about the new episodes of L & O and they also said new episodes of CI. How can they have new episodes of CI when USA has dibs on them? Are they just repeating season 7 and calling them new episodes? What is going on? Anyone know.

I heard that too, I think NBC is calling them 'new' because their new to NBC.
