Hi Bubba here, I noticed that some of the other forums had one and thought maybe we should have one too.

Are you guys getting ready for Christmas? We already have the tree up and suppose to start shopping soon.

Hey Bubba. We're putting our tree up on December 1st. We don't usually do anything for Christmas untill at least then.
I'm hoping for a white Christmas this year. smile.gif

Last year my Christmas tree went up on Christmas eve and came down 3 days later- my daughter was 11 mos old and trying to climb it!! Usually it goes up around the 14th-15th. Would love a white Christmas but we don't usually get one dry.gif

They put up a tree in Bryant Park (the big NYPublic Library on 42nd Street) two days ago and are putting up the Rock Center tree tonight (Nov. 28), they also put one up at Lincoln Center with all musical instruments since it does hold the opera house, the Met and Avery Fisher Hall. Usually we have Branford Marsalis and family to play there or anyone willing to come and play. It's cold in NY but thank god no snow yet. For the Rock Center tree we always get more rap, boy bands than anything. And there is the Brian Setzer Orchestra (formerly a Stray Cat back in early 80's) and one or two actresses or an actor and a skating pro. I don't go over since it gets quite crowded and with all taller people I can't see anyway. Better to watch on tv.

LOL! I quit putting up a tree years ago because of my dogs. WAY too confusing - a tree in the house with balls hanging all over it... No more pooping tinsel at my house!! biggrin.gif

My nieces and nephews have done that, too...the tree climbing thing. Hilarious! We started taking bets on who'd be the first to either break an ornament or upright the tree. No tree yet, but have started shopping. No snow EVER at Christmas in this part of California, but hopefully the Sierras will have some soon!!

LOL. I can relate. We got a group of four puppies one Christmas, two for my nephews and a couple of cousins. The pups were sleeping when the tree went up. When they woke up they made a beeline for the tree and tore up all the wrappings from the presents, knocked down the tree, chewed up ornaments. They did all this in less than 10 minutes. We were trying to grab them but they kept getting away and charging the tree. They were lab puppies. Great dogs but really awfully behaved pups.

I remember it snowing when I was kid in TN. It didn't snow that often but when it did the whole city was shut down since we had no snow plows. Also, they had ice storms a lot which were scary.

If it snows here in CA, it would be a minor miracle. San Francisco can get a bit cold but not that cold. Could you imagine trying to walk or drive down the steeply inclined streets in the city? That would be a tragic and epic event, indeed.

Yeah. Don't understand why but I guess it seems like a good idea when you are a kid. I love Christmas because of the kids. They make it so wonderful.

My Dad's favorite was "Silver Bells". He was an awful singer but he would try singing along.

I like "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby. We would roll out all the Holiday songs and albums (yes we had LPs and 45s, I'm that old) and listen while we hung the decorations. I remember eating so many Christmas cookies and drinking eggnog until my stomach ached. The sugar rush would last for a couple of hours then I'd crash. Maybe that's why the kids tried to climb the tree. All that pent up energy has to come out somehow.

You're right about that. Christmas without kids around is just not the same. I love the week leading up to Christmas when they're so excited they can hardly stand it. I love shopping for the kids, too...always the best part!

And yes, regarding Bay Area snow...quite a miracle if it ever snowed here on Christmas. It'd be fun in the suburbs, but you're right, SF would be a mess.

Oh I remember when I was little, my family went to pick out a tree and everyone wanted to get a big, tall tree. I insisted that they think about it because it would just fall over. They didn't listen (of course. because I was very young) and went ahead and bought the tall one. That stupid tree fell over EVERY night. We had to nail it to the wall with some rope. And I never let them forget it.

I know what you mean. My parents started using a fake tree, too, because my mom's allergic. It's ok, but I do miss the smell of a real one.

Do any of you decorate the outside of your house?

Duct tape... laugh.gif !!! See...Burn Notice has it all...action, adventure, humor, hot cast, and all the practicality of DIY network. I recently used plastic yogurt containers as the magma chamber/crater for papier mache volcanoes for a group of school kids. Michael's gadgetry lessons have been absolutely useful and educational... lol

Christmas in Florida sucks. There's no way an inflatable snowman looks good on a burnt up lawn in a "feels like" temp of 93 degrees. But then again, snow is pretty for about an hour and a real hassle to get around in. It's really strange and you never get used to it. One of the most popular events around here is a the boat parade, when everybody sticks a fully-lighted tree on top of their little luxury liner and putt-putts down the river at night. Like I said, strange.

I wish I had the money to do it. We have some people around here who put up small carousels and trains and things like that all over their yards all lit up on Christmas. They put up so much that they have to start decorating in October.

Oh and I decided to make my own video about Creegan because I adore him. Unfortunately its just pics. I don't know where to download clips of TE. It would have been soooo much better if I did. Anyway its just a funny video about Creegan with some 80s music. Hope ya like it.
