Saturday, November 17th, 2007 --- Zac and Angela were scheduled to play a benefit concert (for a playground) at a local high school... I had to work til 2, and the show started at 5, so I planned on going straight down after work (it’s a 2 1/2 hour ride, maybe more)... I brought a change of clothes and was ready to go! Fortunately, I had just recently started this job (a 2nd, part-time job) and Saturday was my official “new employee training”, scheduled to end at 2, but ended earlier... 12:30-ish... I checked with my department manager and found out it was okay to leave then, instead of staying til 2. I decided I’d use the time to go home to shower and change... instead of just changing at a truck stop somewhere or something. I never made it... I got a phone call from a friend saying she was heading down earlier... leaving her house around 2... If I wanted to just ride with her, I could... if I could get there in time. Looking at the clock and knowing how long of a ride I had before I got to her house, I knew it would be close, but told her that sounded great. I did make it... but barely. I got to her house at 1:55... did a lightning-round-quick-change into more suitable clothing for a concert... and we were on our way. We had a couple of stops to make and by the time we got to the show, it was around 4...

Once the show was set to get started, Angela and M Fletcher Brown came out to ‘introduce’ the show... and the ‘opening act’, James LeBlanc. James is a great great songwriter, with some of his songs being cut by Travis Tritt and Kenny Chesney, etc... He did a set that lasted about a half-hour, then Zac came on and lit up the stage!! He did a few cover songs and a few originals...

He started with a cover, “All Right Now”, followed by the lively crowd favorite, “Memphis Women and Chicken”. Once Zac took the stage, the kids who had been dancing on the side of the stage started working their way to the center, in front of the stage, instead. They seemed to have a BLAST dancing (and screaming) along to “Memphis Women and Chicken”. He followed that up with another cover, “Easy Like Sunday Morning” which was simply amazing. I honestly do think he can sing anything... and sing it well!! His next song was another cover, but one that would be easily recognized by any of his Nashville Star fans, since it was one of the songs he performed on the show, “Stranger In My House”. “Emily” was next, which slowed things down just a bit, before he swung right into a rousing rendition of Keith Urban’s “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me”. Again, Zac was astounding with covering a song made popular by someone else but turning it into his own... adding his own flair to it. He did a few of his own songs next, starting with the energetic “Anything But Love”, followed by a very sensual “Never Been Loved”. “Get Your Love On” stirred things back up... but not to be outdone by “If It Wasn’t For The Whiskey”. Zac’s mom and dad were in the audience at the show, and he told us that things have gotten much better since the show between him and his dad, and also between his mom and his dad, too. He ended his set with a cover of a cover of a cover... hehehe... He did his own spin on “Life Is A Highway”, and I’ve never heard a better version!

Then it was Angela’s turn... Zac came back on stage with her to provide some guitar and background vocals as well. Angela’s first song was “When Will I Be Loved” which she performed during the contest, followed by “Emotionless”, which is one of her originals that made it onto her promotional album, “The Winner Is...” She did a ‘new’ song next... new to her, at least. It was a song written by James LeBlanc, that also appears on his current CD. The song was “No Next Time”, to which she continued with “Love Me Wild”. That song also is one of her originals that appears on her promotional album. A few new songs followed, starting with “When You Come Around” and “So Yesterday”... “Used”, written by Lee Turner of the Nashville Star band was next, just before “These Walls”. One of my favorite songs from her promotional album was next, “You Got Me”. She did an amazingly powerful acoustic version of that song with just her vocals and James’ guitar licks... She next performed another original called “When The Whiskey Hits Me”, followed by her hugely successful original from Nashville Star’s “Originals Night”, “Total Loss”. The concluding song was a duet between her and her younger brother that has concluded most shows they’ve done together, the Black Crowes cover, “Hard To Handle”.

All the while, the kids that were front and center of the stage were dancing up a storm and having a blast!! You could see their energy only fueled Zac and Angela further, and they seemed to really enjoy this show a lot!! They did meet and greets immediately following and the fans just never seemed to end. It was such a great show, as are all Zac and Angela shows. I can’t wait for my next one!

Check out some of the best pictures I got of Zac (my battery died just about the time Angela took the stage... sad.gif *pout*) ENJOY!

Saturday Night Fever pose! tongue.gif

this was REALLY cool... he 'posed' for me... as many times as I've seen him and he's seen me taking pictures of him, he's never actually posed for a picture for me. He was playing so he was limited how he could 'pose', but he still at least acknowledged that I was fixing to take a picture and made it 'special' for me! =)

SamIAm
my favorite favorite favorite picture of him that I've ever taken at a show!!! (for now, at least!)

Great post and review..
One question why isn't Hard to Handle a cover of Otis Redding's instead of Black Crowe???
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, thanks for the reviews and picture Sam. cool.gif

So glad y'all are enjoying the review and the pics...

and to answer your question, RC... I actually listed it that way because for Otis Redding, it was a B-side track... and for the Black Crowes, it was one of their hits. They made it popular more recently, so more people would know it by them. I actually DID think about who to credit... hehe... but I obviously decided on going with the Crowes... smile.gif

oK Sam I am, guess it works..

But I was thinking that Ottis Redding Recorded where Zac and Angela work and sounds like they put some of his sound into it, guess I will have to find the Crowe version and list to it LOL
