Calling All Crafty Criminal Intent Fans!

I've also made a post over at the NBC boards, but I thought I'd try here as well... I'm not really familiar with forums and message boards, so be gentle lol. Anyway, I am trying to spread the word about about this project and get as many fans involved as possible, so I thought I'd give it a go here...

The Law & Order: CI Fan Book Project is in full swing, and we need your help and contributions!

So -- what is the fan book project? Started in September, the aim is to collect as many pieces of fan art, letters, and crafts as possible, compile them into a book, and deliver them to the cast and crew of CI. The projected delivery date is the week of February 11, 2008.

More questions? Who is the book intended for? What is allowed? What sorts of fun crafting can you partake in? Where do you submit?

You can find the answers to these questions and more at the main hub site: http://www.patiently-waiting.com/fanbook or at the livejournal community http://community.livejournal.com/ci_fanbook/

You can also contact me directly at catherineford@mac.com

The goal is to make this a really interesting, unique gift for the great people who bring us Criminal Intent week after week, year after year. So, go on, get started on your submissions! And feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

Thanks alot! And don't forget to spread the word. The more fans involved, the better!

-Catherine

PS: I really hope this post is allowed. If anyone has any problems with it, please let me know why.

You can talk to Admin about this , i'm not usually involved in Fan Art and Although i enjoy posting on this forum and talking about the show i still don't consider myself soo obsessed about it as to write a book. You can get ideeas from what we post , there are many praises adresed to the actors or writers of the show .

Hmm, well, I guess the idea is more about fans just expressing their admiration for the show by writing a letter, or creating some fan art, or anything really, and having it compiled into a photo album/scrapbook. The "fan book" thing is really never done in this particular section of online "fandom" (Criminal Intent) so I thought it would be a really nice thing to do.

It's not necessarily "writing" a book or anything, it's just fan letters and creations. I know it's probably a little intrusive on my part to come bounding into your board sputtering "FAN BOOK NOW!" at you ^^; I just wanted to get the word out. Any help is greatly appreciated. (You mentioned asking the Admin - how exactly would I go about this?)

I hear what you are saying, that actually sounds like a good idea. Don't mind the hostility over on this board, sometimes certain people can get cranky about new threads. [not pointing fingers]

but yeah, i'm in! If i have anything to offer where should i send it?

Thanks ^^; I am really not "up" on the whole message board thing and don't know much about proper etiquette and the like. So you'll excuse if I managed some sort of forum faux pas.

I am really trying to scrounge up interest in the book, and I know there are alot of fans on message boards (I've been trying to spread the word around livejournal for the past month or so now) so I appreciate the positive feedback : ) If you're interested in partaking in the project, you can find the address to send everything to here at the website: http://patiently-waiting.com/fanbook/submitting.html

There are two addresses, one for North American/International fans, and one for Australian fans. There are deadlines and rules and instructions and all sorts of stuff at the site, so take a gander if you like!

This sounds kind of cool. Perhaps we should submit the rules...

Hi Bubba here, it sounds like a nice idea.

I guess the approach I was wishing for was something unique to present to the cast and crew. If we can get a whole lot of fans involved, that would just be brilliant!

As to rules, you can read them all here: http://patiently-waiting.com/fanbook/rules.html
If anyone wants them here in a post as opposed to a link, that'd be no problem.

It's an interesting idea, though I'm not keen on including a personal foto. If I can meet your deadline I'll send something southward.

Really? Does the personal photo thing put you off? I'll keep that in mind. One reason why I like hearing back from people is to know how the feel about certain rules and so on. So thank you for telling me that!

Hope you can participate : ) Thanks for taking an interest!

Cool idea! Is computer made fan art acceptable? I have a few things I might be interested in submitting.

Indeed it is! I haven't officially "opened" online submissions yet, but if you have some stuff you'd like to send (or have questions), my email address is catherineford@mac.com If you want to send a letter via email that's also okay with me : ) Glad you're liking the idea and ready to get involved! Thanks for taking an interest!

It puts me off, somewhat, because I tend to be a recluse. If you plan on using people's fotos in a medium like TV or print, I think you might need a signed consent.

I would be submitting a computer generated image but if you prefer hard copy I can print it as well.

A few years ago a very crafty fan of a musician made a gorgeous quilt for him. She invited fans to submit their name and home town which she then embroidered onto the back of the quilt. Needless to say, the musician and his wife were thrilled with it (and said they keep it on their bed) and we fans who are not artistically inclined got to participate and know that we, too, are remembered. I wonder if any LOCI fans are willing and able to do something like that???

Hah, I am definitely going to take that into consideration. Make sending a personal photo recommended, but not required. Printing a hard copy isn't necessary -- I mean, I'll be doing just that when I go to put it into the actual, physical book, anyway. Unless there was anything you wanted to send via regular snail mail : )

Well I definitely wanted to bring fans together with this, and make it something really nice to give as a gift. And even though I encourage everyone to be a little crafty with their letters and other pieces they want to submit, it's most definitely not a requirement or anything. I understand that not everyone is artistically inclined, so this is a way to get everyone participating - to send something.

That quilt thing is a really unique idea! I hope that fans will jump on this fan book bandwagon. It will be a great way to show the great people who bring us CI how much their fans truly appreciate them : )
