Full Version: LA Times Ad Campaign
USA Network Forums > USA Network Originals > Burn Notice

Hi, I'm Allie and although I don't post on this board, Burn Notice is one of my very favorite shows and if I don't find out next summer what happens with Michael I'm going to throw a very big hissy.

It
is one thing if our favorite shows go away on hiatus, it's quite another if they are canceled because of the writer's strike. My idea is to place a full page ad in the LA Times to let The Powers That Be know we are watching! Here's my idea:

WE THE FANS OF THE FOLLOWING TELEVISION PROGRAMS HAVE NOT GIVEN UP! SO PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON US!

All TV fans hope for a speedy solution to the WGA strike. Until that time, we wish the networks and the writers to know that we are here, we will wait and when you are ready to come back, we will watch!

Below this will be a list of all the shows from all that fans who participate in the effort.

This is the time for all fans to unite to have one voice together and let everyone know that the strike affects us as well. That means posting on as many respective fan boards as possible and getting out the word, finding a central place to post information and updates so fans can see what's going on.

I currently have a call into the LA Times ad desk to find out the cost of a black and white full page ad. It appears by the cost of half page ads, that it will be around 1k, that isn't too bad if we all pool our resources. It's so important to let WGA and the AMPTP know what this strike effects the fans as well.

I am totally open to ideas and suggestions. This is an effort by the fans. Let's not allow Micheal's last moments of pulling into that semi truck be the last moments.

Let's start mustering the troops! If you are a member of any other TV program website, pass the word. Cut and past this if you want. More info will be forthcoming, along with perhaps a website.

Hi Bubba here, I think it's a good idea.

Interesting idea. Unfortunately, I don't think the networks care about anything other than keeping their profits up. Can you imagine someone taking your talent and making millions maybe billions off of it while you get nothing other than your pay check? Oh, I guess that's applies to all of us, huh?

Anyway, I see where the writers are coming from. They should at least be given the opportunity to share in the profits or a set amount of royalties from the digital resell of the products. The actors get paid when the shows are in syndication, why can't the writers be paid similarly?
