Full Version: Writer Strike!

I'm hoping that the writers strike will not affect future Psych episodes; I know it was mentioned earlier that many of the episodes have been written...but for how long?

Do you think we are safe? If not there are some members on here that would love to write an episode. rolleyes.gif haha. It would be too cool if the tv execs held a contest...and the winner gets his or her own episode.

What are your thoughts?

Well, my thought on the writer strike is AHH!!!!! THIS HAD BETTER END SOON!!!! On the episode idea contest, I think that would be a great idea! THey should already be using more than one of Bigkitty75's ideas, they're great biggrin.gif .
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, I think Psych should be okay.
ChicaWest
I too think Psych will be okay, but it would pretty cool to see some of our episode ideas on television. *taps on monitor* Hey wonderful USA people I think we have a great idea for a contest. biggrin.gif
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, someone did post this article over on The 4400 forum, that shed some light.

USA

"In Plain Sight"
New show, episodes are nearly wrapped

"Psych" and "Monk"
Enough scripts in hand to guarantee a full second half of each season

"Law and Order: Criminal Intent"
Enough for first half of the season (10); the second half (12) will be affected (meaning not enough scripts to guarantee production start as scheduled.)

"Burn Notice"
Scheduled to start production of Season 2 in January

"Starter Wife"
Scheduled to start production in March

I just figured we wouldn't be affected cause they finished filming the whole second season, so I just assumed we'd be safe with the remaining episodes. I wonder how long this thing is gonna go on for, cause I live for late night television. I need my Letterman and Conan.
bigkitty_4
It will not affect Psych because all of its second season episodes are already filmed. My main concern is next summer. That is when the actors and directors contracts expired and they too could go on strike. Yikes! The average person will be mad because these people make more money than themselves. One of the reasons the writers went on strike is residuals from DVD sales and downloads of programming from the internet. Whatever deal the writers get, actors and directors will demand the same thing. Producers of programs call the strike frivolous and will have higher production cost. Jay Leno supports the strike by showing up yesterday at the picket lines with doughnuts for everyone. It is a sticky issue and I hope it will be settled soon.

As for a contest, I am honor you guys like my ideas; but I don't belong to the Writers Guild and the producers would never take any ideas from an unsolicited source. Note to Steve Franks, you can take any idea I have on this board and I will not expect any money. I love the characters you created and I love to post ideas, but they are yours and I trust you and writers to give them life. Of course, it helps when you cast the finest actors to play these roles. Steve, your the man!

I hope the strike ends soon. Psych has the potential to be on much longer than two seasons.

that's great to hear about the strike - but it would also be great if The Friendly Indians were playing somewhere live soon! I'd love to go hear them play the theme song live!

I know, you know. they just don't have any proof.

*Update

According to the Vancover Sun and tv.com

Psych is now on hiatus and production has gone dark. The second half of season 2 is complete.
Season 3 first half shooting is currently on hold. It seems that the Writer Strike is affecting BC as well.

I must admit, that sounds really depressing. "Production has gone dark"...doesn't that just sound awful?! Anyway, I hope the strike doesn't have to last long enough to make season three get delayed-I would probably cry!

Yeah, they're all on break now cause they film from April through October. I'm assuming they're gonna be shooting again on that same schedule next year. Unless, and I hope it doesn't, this strike continues long enough, that it really does shut down production on their third season. I would cry alone in my room in the dark if it did mellow.gif

yeah it does sound bad, but those arent my words! haha. Alot of shows being filmed in Vancouver are stopping production due to the higher price of filming, as well as the writer strike.
