I was watching tv and I saw part of this movie on TnT called the "stir of echoes." It has Kathryn Erbe in it. Has anyone else seen it? Here's the imdb site for it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0164181/
soccermanic
omg, i just finished watching it on TNT too, lol. i saw it b4 though, it's pretty good.
Katie081990
Yeah, I watched most of it. She's really good in it, I liked her the most. She has a really main role, too.
groovychickenx420x
I think so.And it's not cool. mad.gif
KimberlyTaylor
I think she does a great job! Her role is to be a detective, support her partner and fit in the pieces of the puzzles for the crimes. She does an amazing job of filling in all the balnks spots in the investigations. I cannot imagine how she remembers all those long lines she says when she is giving out information on a suspect, etc. Goren and Eames depend on each other. There would be no team without them as a partnership!
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, I think Kat does a great job too. She fits in perfectly.
krodgers
She is what makes Goren and Eames complimentary partners! LOCI would not be on TV if G&E were not the detectives, IMO! Alex is a great actress as well as VDO! I wouldn't be watching LOCI without them together.
cluck73
I recently saw Kate Erbe in The Runaway on Hallmark. She played a southern widow and was excellent! really good!
ValleyOfTheShadow
Kathryn does a great job. It just seems like she is under rated because VDO holds alot of the light, but she is right there next to him.
DefenderOfMen
Kathryn rocks! She plays great opposite VDO. She brings a lot of depth to the character. Without her, it wouldn't be the same.

Kathryn is really underrated as she is all of the following:

Tony Award nominated stage actress
Movie actress (Stir of Echoes would have been average without her)
TV actress (she was fantastic in OZ and we all know she helps keep LOCI going)

The media should pay less attention to those pathetic bubbleheads (SPEARS, LOHAN, et al.) and report on the people who are talented.

No, I agree completely. It blows my mind that she never gets a decent interview or even a photoshoot or something. She's amazing.

Don't get me started on how much I hate Britney.

One of the SHIPPERS (who I will not name directly but it rhymes with SALLY) just texted me with the following stern message:

WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE POOR BRITNEY ALONE??......SHE IS ONLY A HUMAN BEING!!!.....SHE HAS FEELINGS LIKE THE REST OF US!!!!!......SHE IS HAVING A BAD YEAR AND NEEDS OUR SUPPORT!!!........SHE...(click as I hang up). Isn't this sad??? ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL that will fall on the SHIPPERS!!

LOL! Nice!
Kathryne is certainly underrated and her character needs more agreesive screen time, less passive screen time. I fully appreciate that this show is more of a D'Onofrio vehicle than others, and that the character Goren is really the solver of the two partners. I like how they compliment each other, he is able to gather the facts, make the connection but she's ultimately the one who aids him to bring the entire thing to a conclusion. I would like an episode where Eames takes the lead to solve the crime. It would be cool.

I agree Kathryn is really underrated I don't get how she is so underrated and people like Britney Spires, Hilton, and lohan who can't act to save thier lives are always in the news or being interviewed. And you guys are right the media should pay less attention to the pathetic bubbleheads and pinheads and report more on the people who can actually act for a change. I seen Stir of Echoes and I loved her in it it was odd to see her in a role other than Eames but I loved the movie without her in it the movie would of sucked big time. I seen her in OZ and she was amazing she's so convinceing in any rule she plays in and that is rare in this day in age in hollywood to find an actor or actress who can do that. She playes Eames like onone else can I'm glad she is on CI and I hope to see her more as we are starting the new year.

Kathryn (first off I love how she spells her name) is an amazing actress not only how she is perceived on screen but what she does for her co-actors. It's a rare talent where a woman can act, make herself look good and bring out the talents of her fellow actors. That's Kathryn's real talent. she seems to bring out the amazing qualities of others, but doesn't become buried in the background either. She's a phenomenal talent, and I'm certain D'Onofrio is aware of it. Which is why he always looks like he's in pain when he's on screen with another partner, just not Goren feeling the pain of Eames' absense but D'Onofrio missing Erbe (nothing underhanded in that, jst two people who work well together, no shipping intended)
I would like to see Erbe do something that is a real departure from Eames. Something very small but stunning, if they ever made Cormac MacCarthy's The Road into a movie, she would be just perfect as the mother in the flashbacks. Very desperate, but with a resigned dignity as well.
oldgoalie52
I would love to see her in a remake of Tennesse Williams' CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF reprising the role of MARGARET "MAGGIE THE CAT" POLLITT (which was played by Elizabeth Taylor in the 1958 original). They don't make many movies like this anymore because of the limited BOX OFFICE appeal (it would have no spaceships or be animated) so this would have to be a BROADWAY or PBS production.

Wow! I wasn't even thinking something like that. Because of LOCI I get so used to seeing her as "understated" it would be nice to see her in a role like that. How about in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Maybe in ten years? She's a little young for that role right now.

I see her being able to pick and choose scripts and working whenever she wants as she will be much sought after as an actress. She has stated she puts her family first so she will probably tailor her work around this. If I was her agent her next 3 movies/productions would be:

Romantic comedy (something to allow her to show her comedic/dramatic sides and has box office appeal-like BABY BOOM)
American Classic ( CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF to show her dramatic talents)
Biography (playing a real life character like Kathryn Hepburn or Nancy Reagan)

Cool! Actually it would be neat to see her to a biography on Abigail Adams (wife of second president John Adams). Erbe would be able to showcase her acting in a role like that, First Lady Adams was quite a woman. She spied for her husband, kept it a secret that she spoke both German and French, so she could over-hear conversations and report back to her husband. She also pretended to be "a silly woman" so people would talk politics and policies around her, she would then report all this back to her husband and they would talk over the best possible way to handle situations together. President Adams regarded her as quite a genius, rightly so, she was. Erbe would be wonderful in that role, she could really stretch out in a role like that. The only problem is that while the entire state of Massachusetts would see the movie, no one else would.

Wow - I was thinking almost the same thought last night. Sometimes when you are watching them in a scene together, especially from the first two/three seasons, you can almost see Vince and Katie seeping through past Goren and Eames, simply because the two of them were so TIRED when they were working. Someone in another thread said there was a moment where Goren handed Eames a cup of coffee and had a very affectionate expression on his face. I could imagine what happened there...

d'Onofrio: (thinking) They've had to shoot this scene four times already. We've been working eight hours flat. Props just handed me a new coffee and I've even sugared it for you because you're starting to look pale ... but I gotta confess, I've had three sips already. We're a team.

(Edited to add: That was from "Scared Crazy" which was actually in Season five, but maybe they were tired anyway biggrin.gif )

Really good insight, Lozzie. I like how you give me his inner monologue.. sometimes I worry it's turning into dialogue! I like them as an acting team, but I would like to see Erbe do something outside of this show and really break away from this character.... and of course I want D'Onofrio to buy my short story and produce it as a movie... I want a lot of things... sigh...
chimera
I really appreciated Erbe in BlindSpot because she freed herself and it was really believable that she could do it. Even though she is petite you can see the wirey muscles in her arms. I admire her.

Isn't it interesting that tiny, little Alex freed herself, but big, strapping Bobby had to be rescued?

tiny little alex wasn't deprived food and water for over 48 hours.

Was she drugged, as well? I haven't seen the episode. In Untethered there was a chance Bobby might still have been suffering the after effects of the sodium pentathol.

true, she was just hit over her head, probably sedated, hung on a meat hook for a whole night without water with a gag in her mouth and had to listen to a woman being tortured to death.

smile.gif

if I had the choice, I'd rather go without water for 48 hours. (I thought it was "only" a few hours for Bobby? Ah, Untethered confuses me)

in "Amends", when Eames talks to Theresa on the couch and gives a little laugh, I never see "Eames" sitting there but Kathryn.

I think it's especially amazing that you never really notice their height and weight difference, sometimes they walk next to each other and suddenly I think - oh yeah, right, he is a head taller and almost twice her size. They work so well together.

Lozzie you haven't seen BlindSpot yet? You should! It's a great ep!

anyone who is able to hang on their arms for a night and is still able to use them after that has my admiration forever. I'd really like to know if that's physically possible and a teacher at vocational college once told us that you had to be careful with bondage because if your hands are over your head for too many hours you could die (it was a strange college wink.gif)

I think that Kathryn's character on LOCI has really given a lot more airtime than she had in the first two seasons. I think she really shined through on Blindspot and Amends. Her performance in these were so believable (sp?) that I in Amends, I shed a few tears when she was going through the evidence box with Joe's shirt in it. I am glad that the writers give her funny and snarky lines. I am a snarky kind of gal - so I have a hard laugh when she drops these lines. smile.gif

I think we will see more future work from the writers that will let Kathryn shine. She's truly an amazing actress.

Here's a clip from a great movie she did 15 years ago called "Rich In Love".
I've been in love with her ever since.
Some of it is currently on youtube (not my love, but rather the movie):

Has anybody seen her in "Oz".

We just got HBO for a trial period, I have been curious about that show, since I've heard that many actors related to L&O have roles in the show.

Our little Kathy is soooo bad!!
She looks very beautiful, though, and totally innocent.

Christopher Meloni was in the show too (without shirt), also the guy who plays the supervisor in Baggage (the wanna be airline executive), the young red-head from "Con-text", Rita Moreno, Edie Falco (who once played a defense attorney in the mothership), and others (I am sure there were others related to L&O).
hugogirl42
I appreciate that her character has been gradually more and more developed, but in contrast to Bobby, she's still really only a sketch. Hopefully they will continue to mold her into something more than the smart alek partner.

I do, of course, respect that there is a writer's strike going on, so....

It occurs to me that it may be too late fot the "writers" to notice that Kate is underated. Seven years later, and she's STILL all too often forced to act like a prop, rather an a "senior" partner.

I don't really see that happening this season. In fact, the two Detectives' lines are split rather evenly. Season 7 Goren is no longer cocky, self-assured & all knowing. This allows Eames' to shine, which is fine with me & long overdue.

Frankly, I'm hoping I spoke too soon. For it's still my contention that "the writing makes this show."
'Though I've never seen Alex as all-knowing, I believe she's still somewhat of the first two attributes.
In fact, come to think of it, I don't think "Alex" has ever seen herself as "all-knowing."
1) I think Kathryn'll be less underated if the writers involve her more.
2) I don't think "backstory" is the only way to do it.

Talk about underrated! On the website of a Boston TV station they had a slide show called "Made in Massachusetts-How many of your favorite celebrities hail from the Bay State?" NO KE who was born in Newton, MA. That is just wrong.
