I search all over the blog and could not come up with a place for this. Moderator, if you want to move it somewhere rather than start another topic, feel free.
I recently listened to Vincent talk about season seven and where the characters are going this year. I love the idea that the stories will be more character driven-don't think I am complaining but I felt that he was almost embarrassed by the first 3 season episodes. He said they were "kitschy" and he referred to those mannerisms such as the bend as if he wasn't wanting to own them. Why the he## not. I am sure he has had so many fans talk to him about all of the idiosyncratic things he did in the early seasons, but if I had a chance to talk to him, I would say. Be very proud of that character you created. Goren is the most wonderful, goofy, unpredictable, strange, off the wall character I have ever had the priviledge of watching. It was all of those 'kitchy"things that made many of us fans of that "fan base" you talk about, avid LOCI watchers. It really made me sad to think that in retrospect, he does not seem proud of his wonderful character.
I am all for moving the show stories forward. But please know that hundreds of fans LOVE all of the craziness of Goren and I for one miss it. I want Vincent to know that and not feel apologetic for his early work on this show. I read on one of the blogs that they could show 48 minutes of commercials with VDO in them and she would be watching...well so would I.
Maybe I interpreted it wrong. Wouldn't be the first time so if any of you out there withdifferent opinion, please chime in.
Anyway, nice to be joining here and nice to see so many familiar names.

I completely agree! His character is the reason I watch this show at all. I love his little quirks. He is just plain FUN to watch - whether he is squeezing a confession out of a suspect or even pushing a witness a bit to far to get information. The way Vincent plays his charcters, with every part of himself, is what makes for a total viewing experience! He puts so much of HIMSELF into the character, you cannot take your eyes off the screen. L&OCI would not be L&OCI without Vincent! Thumbs up to USA for playing some of his wonderful movies as well. Recently caught The Cell and Imposter, just need to add a few more of them in there guys! Thanks!!

I agree too. I think it was TV Guide that called Monk the "quirkiest detective on TV", which started me on a rant (which caused my daughter to do the eye rolling thing). I like Monk and enjoy watching him, but he is NOT quirky--he is mentally ill. Bobby Goren is quirky--and fascinating to watch. I know some fans don't like the direction he has gone in the last 2 seasons, but I love the "new" Bobby. However, it is only because we have those first 3 seasons to build on that I appreciate the gradual changes that began in season 4 and have continued through the beginning of season 7. You are absolutely right--VDO has nothing to be embarrassed about. He has brought us a quirky, complex, interesting character in Bobby Goren.

Hi Bubba here, both men are characters. VDO has done a great job as Goren.

Bobby has more to be personally angry about the last few seasons, but more obviously this season. The whole story with his mom let him show some frustration but I think now (since her death) we will get to see some real anger, deep down from the inside, a place Bobby has protected all his life and is afraid of. VDO will act the bejeesus out of this!! I'm anxious yet apprehensive about "Untethered".

Couldn't agree more!! smile.gif
It is good to see the development of a character, and not just let him remain just quirky but they have thrown him some more emotional stuff as well with his mum dying and his partner getting hurt. Keeps it more intersting and more realistic as well. All people go through stuff in their lives and learn from it and grow and change as a person.

Jeez I really can't wait now!
VDO is going to do an amazing job, like he always does. This is going to be the best.
