This new character annoys me. The character is much more involved than he should be. He seems smarmy; a smart a** know-it-all. The writers need to dial back his intrusiveness into any investigation. This is another case of making something out of nothing. The guy's a nebbish.

I like Eric, but Ross needs to get more depth.
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, I'm not that big of a Ross fan either.
jcsavestheday
I didn't understand why everyone didn't like Ross until I watched Blindspot. He was definitely a jerk in that episode.

I'm probably the only person that actually likes the character. I think that he works with Logan a little better than he does Goren and Eames. I actually liked him in 'Seeds'.

I think that he's warming up to Bobby a bit more, and I can see thm dropping the jerk act in future episodes and become a bit more paternal.

He's pretty much like Cragen, except not as nice. I think that Goren and Eames will bond with him more this season.
lynnez
Initially I did not like Ross, but after watching most of season six he has grown on me. The tension between he and Goren seemed to be too much at times, but then i thought he really is taking the place of two characters. I always enjoyed the disagreements between Carver and Goren and they do need that character that is going to challenge him and make him accountable for some of the more unorthodox things he does. Deakins, though i did like him (he had a very fatherly vibe about him), was a bit flat as a character, where as Ross has a lot of personality and like his detectives seems to have a more complicated past.
DETnathalie
He's perfect for those tense moments of alpha male contests.

I think because he doesn't bring too much personal stuff into the show, that we are really missing out on an untapped source of storylines.

I like him abunch. So I'd have to disagree.
tessluvsv
I love Captain Ross! I think Eric is great...I'm glad he joined the cast.
ValleyOfTheShadow
He's okay, i just think he's a bit of a jerk to Bobby.
Jryan
He is getting better, anyone see him in the movie Talk Radio, boy his eye and that voice. Real hottie back then. Glad he is warming up to Bobby, nobody messes with Bobby.
krodgers
I didn't like Ross at all the first eppy he was on. He was an a$$ to Bobby and I still think he has it for Eames! In Amends, I liked him better mainly because he seemed to try kindness and respect more for Bobby, plus when he stood up for him in front of the Chief.
VDOVault
I like Eric just fine, but geez figure out something to do with his character, give Ross a direction to go in and stick to it. He should be the leader and not a sycophant or a milquetoast

I think he's still too wishy washy compared to Deakins. No way would I smart off to Deakins the way I would to Ross, because with Ross you could get away with being snarky.

I councur. He seems to be more of a foil in the G/E epis. Like I said, I think that he is much better in the Logan epis. I thought that he was great in Seeds because he got to bust Falacci's chops a lot, and that was great stuff.

His character needs some more development, and I think that he needs to have more shows of support for his detectives than he has shown in the past (Amends excluded).
gorens_veal
I agree with everything negative being said about Ross. Nothing likable about him. He had it in for Goren from the beginning. When speaking to Eames he refers to Goren as "Your Partner". That bugs me. I do think that has a thing for Eames, maybe all women since he is divorced. I'll have to watch his interaction with the Falacci.
I thought that scene at the beginning of Amends when he relates the story of his ex-wife finding his 15-years old son in bed with a girl was so out of place. First, to tell his superiors the story and then their reactions. To me that was just thrown in to humanize him. I thought it was just forced and bad.

I don't mind Bogosian (I liked him in Scrubs). But...

I used to hate Ross...now I don't mind him so much. Still, I liked Deakins (Sheridan) so much more. He was my fav cop show/movie Captain so I doubt anyone could compete with that. Ross is still a little annoying but at least he's warming up to Bobby and for that I'm grateful.

I like Eric. Just one question: What shift DOESN'T he work?
bugtussle47
he's getting better.. he was such a hard nose at first.. but he is relaxing more. He is relating to Goren a little better and not just treating him as a side bar.. only consulting Eames..
I didn't like the scene in Amends when he tells Eames *and tell Him he can join us*.. he has a name.. if it were Eames pacing outside the door he wouldn't have said tell Her.. so I think he has a ways to go.
As I said in a prior post some months back.. it just seemed *odd* that he tells Eames her partner tends to over think.. and to watch him.. I mean did the man not check out his detectives at all before taking the job? Did he not realize the cases and type cases that Goren solved? and he still thinks after all those years.. he needs watching? that was so unrealistic to me.. but as I said.. he's more relaxed and actually treating Goren as one of the team.

I loved Eames' response to that.
JaquiMichel
Ross is a Logan-type cop so he would be a little leery of the G/E investigative method and more comfortable with the old school L/W/F. I don't think he has a thing for Eames, I think he relates to her because she is the more "orthodox cop" of G/E and more apt to understand his point of view. I do wish he had a little more fire because EB's talents are being limited.
jcsavestheday
Several people have said that Ross has a thing for Eames. I was wondering if anyone would like to elaborate.

I like EB/Ross. His character takes some getting used to and they are giving him more to do than they did Deakins. I'm willing to wait it out, new network, new shows, new chances. I think they could give him more chances to say "why don't you try this" instead of "you can't do...." but that's just a personal opinion.

I'd like to NOT think about that. tongue.gif Yuck!

I agree with the other posters who think he just relates better to Eames cuz she's a "cop's cop".

I think Ross has been a little better to Goren this year, too. Esp in the hospital scene after the teaser in "Amends", and when he defends him to the Chief of D's. Goren looked a little surprised by that.

How FUN is this?! All these people with one thing in common--we all love CI. But there are so many different opinions about every character, every episode, every aspect of the show.

I like Ross. He was fun to dislike last season, with his attitude towards Goren (and Logan to a lesser extent). But his attitude changed over the season until he was actually trying to protect Bobby in Endgame (but Bobby wanted none of it). The truth is he should have never let Goren stay on the case once they thought his mother might be involved. And he shouldn't have let Eames stay on the case in Amends. In fact he shouldn't have let Logan investigate his neighbor's death in Renewal. But then what fun would any of that have been for us? I loved his defense of Goren in Amends. But I agree that the opening sequence with the poker game was a bit strange. Ross doesn't seem like the kind of father who would ever be at a loss for words in talking to his sons. And really, Danny, if you don't know what to say to your 15 year old son about sex--call me! I'll give you some suggestions.

By the way, I have been curious about something so I'll ask it here. In The War At Home, it shows Ross having Thanksgiving dinner with his family. I love the disdain in his voice when he says "Todd"--obviously that is his ex-wife's new husband. I am guessing the older man at the table is Ross's father. Who is the woman sitting next to him? I thought it was his wife. But in one of EB's interviews it sounded like Ross is not married. I can't see the face of the woman--could it be his mother? Or his sister? Does anyone else care?

I'm not seeing that either...I do see Ross showing some favoritism of Eames over Goren (the 'overthinker') and Wheeler over Logan (the 'overreactor') but now that Falacci has come along so much for my possible theory that Ross is doing some kind of affirmitive action, taking special pains to treat female detectives with more respect than male detectives thing.

Still I think Ross is a little too Alan Alda-like supportive of MCS's female detectives for my taste. to me it comes off as a bit forced and phony.

Ross is too career oriented, Dating anyone under his command would be a career killer. Wonder if Eames has an older sister, that would be interesting, If Eames older sister goes through a divorce and ends up dating Ross.

Oh God, maybe the sister whom Eames had the baby for. He would be baby step-daddy!! Yuck

It is time to resurrect Nicole Wallace. In a guest appearance, Deakins introduces her to Ross and splits. Goren & Eames are too late, and a major irritant is removed.

LMAO-very funny.
I don't dislike Ross as much as I did. He's grown on me some but, I miss Carver and Deakins (sp?)
