Maybe I missed something, but as my wife, whois a big fan, pointed out, CI doesn't have that famous Law & Order Bonk-Bonk...does anyone know what happened? Also, as we talked about it, how can you be a Law & Order show...with no Order? I know Mr. Vance probably left to help his wife raise their two kids, but shouldn't they get a new DA?

Just curious...

CI is a member of the Law and Order family .. but.. is a very different type show...focusing on profiling and the criminal mind.. it's always been that way. Now even when Carver was a part of the show.. there was very little court room scenes. I miss Carver very much.. and indeed the show has changed since he's been gone.. but it was never about the court room.. there can be implied order I suppose.. and that's mainly the way that's been handled
also.. when CI left NBC and came to USA it was a new beginning.. with a new purpose.. they have made it clear the series will be more character drivien.. so they focus primarily on the detectives.
NBC and the Law and Order family really never gave this show the attention it deserved... they didn't promote it.. and they didn't fight very hard for it...you have to promote a show to get the word out.. and they never did.
so it's just a theory of some of us that CI is slowly seperating itself from the formula and the Law and Order family (it was the stepchild.. sort of the cinderella of the three).. it was pretty much sacrificed in order to devote time and resources to the other two.
But.. USA has rejuvinated the show...so it wasn't sacrificed after all.. it was given a new purpose.. it is promoted heavily.. and it's paying off with the ratings.
so there are a lot of changes.. and if we are patient.. we will reap the rewards I assure you and your wife.
anyway.. that's my opinion.. and the same opinion of many long term fans.
lol.. I don't even know if I answered your question.. OH and the bonk bonk.(we call doink doink) was missing in season 6 as well.. no idea why they took it out then.

i've seen a couple of DAs in some of last years episodes...but only a couple (that one lady...nona something? she was in a logan/wheeler episode...and then there was that red-headed lady in masquerade...neither was in the ep for more than a couple of minutes tops)

yes...CI has much less (and now virtually non-existent) courtroom scenes...more about the law and cracking the case. i never watched L&O: Trial by Jury when it was on...so correct me if i'm wrong..but it SOUNDS like that one would have been more of the "order" than the "law" side of things. (except of course you can't really have a trial w/out the law playing a vital role now can you?)

actually rae.. the show is both.. the first 30 minutes the cops investigate and a perp is caught.. the last 30 minutes is the trial. the first season worked this wonderfuly and it was ground breaking at the time with a top notch cast... it has wilted along the way with all the changes.. but the format is the same.

Bonk-Bonk is Copyrighted IP to NBC-Dick Wolf partnership. So naturally under a different captain, the BOnk-Bonk luxury stays with the mothership, not the proud dingy.

hmm.. then I wonder why it wasn't used in season 6?

Probably the same issues of "new direction". I would gather it's use was mainly to signify the switch between Law and Order. But becuase criminal intent rides mostly on avoidence of the latter, a closer look into the Law wasn't needed on a case-by-case basis.

Perhaps they were foreshadowing a move or cancellation.

well.. cancellation being the reason doesn't make too much sense to me.. BUT the move... that does.. so both you and DETnat.. have plausable theories.

Nona Gaye. But she quit the series shortly after production began and was replaced by Theresa Randle.

Appreciate the information. I will pass it along to my wife. I understand that this show is different from the other L&O shows, but why do they feel the need to break out of the traditional formula...old bitter cop and young inexperienced rookie, or introvert & extrovert. Eames and Goren have the latter, but has anyone noticed that they keep fiddling with the Noth character's partner...would be better with a cold-afectless partner, like Sciorria? Don;t know how to spell her name, but she was the brunnette when he was introduced to CI. Also, why oh why is the ME now a blonde, yikes!
GoldenMean
Yeah. I know some people here don't like red hair, but that blonde color doees NOT match her skin. What were they thinking? Bring back the red!

A lot of the partner shift for Logan has been casting issues. Falacci will be off in 6 episodes, and I believe that Wheeler will return.
