Great article! Micheal O'Keefe is an excellent actor! Still like to watch the re-runs of Rosanne, so funny!

Well damn...now I'm even more motivated to see 'The Great Santini'. It came out when I was very young and in the throes of being a military brat and living the lifestyle portrayed in the film (It was 1979, I was 10, we were living in Germany) so I have to confess I'm ignorant of it. They say brats have a very different view of the film than practically everyone else who watches the film so that has already sparked my curiosity about it. I'm not surprised to hear VDO praising Michael O'Keefe's performance in it though, partly because I know it's a powerful film and partly because I have come to expect VDO to do exactly that kind of thing around another actor. Of course I expect Duvall may have given some character pointers to O'Keefe because Duvall also grew up as a military brat.

Anyway the interview is interesting for more than just the points made about CI (and CN fans will appreciate the O'Keefe's insights into how Noth works...the VDO insights I have heard from a lot of other sources)
