Six more days until I get my Goren fix!
I have been suffering withdrawl from a new Goren episode... It has only been 8 days since the last one... I need a NEW Goren fix...
Anyway, Smile seems like it will be a really good episode... In the preview for Smile, when Goren says, "Someone engaged in a cover-up," What is that on the desk in front of him? I can't see what it is. At first, I thought it was a microphone, like Goren was on the air on a radio station... But it just looks like a regular room in the background... So it can't be that... I keep rewinding the preview, & watching it over and over again, but I can't make it out... I even pressed PAUSE on the VCR, but it is to blurry to make it out... What is it? Does anyone have a clear shot on your TV of the scene?????

I'm really kind of bummed, because the preview bored the crap out of me. Please don't get me wrong, or judge me harshly. I adore VDO, KE and was so looking forward to all things CI, but I don't know - tainted mouth wash? wtf? I guess for me - that kind of story line is "been there - done that" So my hope is that I'm just not getting the big picture and the ep is going to totally wow me!
Crossing my fingers until next week.
And working diligently on the fic. I hope to have update soon. Bear with me, faithful readers.

We got the tainted lotion angle in "Rocketman" last season, so I hope LOCI can put a new spin on the tainted mouthwash plot element in "Smile" this time around. Otherwise, we might be in for more episodes involving contaminated personal hygiene products, lol!

And there are some products I hope LOCI doesn't touch with a 10 foot pole!

Oh I'm so down with this script idea...it's not yet another variation on the inside look at a rich and/or politically powerful dysfunctional sociopathic family (at least on the surface anyway). Halle-freaking-lujah! My requests for some cases with some substance have been answered and I'm glad
I am assuming this script idea comes from the tainted Chinese product recalls that have been affecting kids (Mattel's lead paint in Barbie and toddler toys, etc) are the inspiration and I think there are still places you can go with a crime theme that is relevant to all of us. I am old school about my L&O and CI eps and love crimes that speak to larger social issues, so bring it on already!
I could use a break from overly emotionally invested detectives, so thanks to Warren and the writers!

its a square pencil holder and you see his badge on top of it, he is sitting in front of someones desk. I always hate it when kids get killed, but I guess it happens in real life so they show it on tv shows to, But I hate even more when slasher movies do it.

There were reports on the news a few months ago of tainted toothpaste as well as the toy recalls.
I imagine the twists and turns are different but the first thing I thought of when I saw the preview was the episode about the contaminated blood clotting agent that was being sold overseas.
Anyway, I'm just looking forward to watching some new CI.

Whether or not the toxic poisoning subject has been overused, I find the idea of children being poisoned by mouthwash a little far fetched. As I recall, children don't even want to brush their teeth; I just can't picture a child stopping to use "mouthwash" (esp. since it usually tastes so vile.)
Since I work for an agency that deals with recycling and toxic waste regulations, I can suggest a list of "toxic" products are among the "hot" issues of discussion for new regulations:
(1) lead paint in toys
(2) lead solder in jewelry for children and adults
(3) lead and other metals in "adornments" and "fasteners" on clothing (i.e. snaps, decorative studs, threads, etc.)
(4) mercury in batteries and electronics (In California, it is now illegal to dispose of any spent batteries, electronic appliances, computer equipment, and/or TV Sets in the normal garbage)
(5) Toxics in lighting [In California, flourescent tubes can no longer be disposed in normal garbage. As of a few months ago, there is action to "ban" incandescent (traditional) light bulbs totally from sale or use; they not only have trace gases and metals, but are energy wasters.]

I *did* notice DD does the Pedigree commercial voiceovers. His Mulder would be a great guest star on CI. Detective Munch from SVU/HLOTS was on The X-Files once, so they must exist in the same TV universe. :-)
Or, DD could be a clever bad guy, and VDO could kick his @ss. Unless our bright boy "Goren" could talk him into kicking his OWN @ss. ;-P

Mulder has a reputation for being an excellent profiler at the FBI.
I would love to see Goren and Mulder go at the bad guys together. Between the two of them, there would be no place to hide, and no escape from the mind play. Since neither one of them is really interested in recognition and would rather pursue truth over popularity, I don't think we'd have to worry about one-upmanship creeping in.
I just wonder how Scully and Eames would get along. Personally I think they'd hit it off right away, as long as Scully kept an open mind about Goren to start with. Tensions would run high if she came in all "I don't know about this crazy guy..." Being partnered w/ Mulder however I think would tend to have her giving him the benefit of the doubt to start with. Eames might do just the same thing if Mulder started things off too spooky... Still I'm confident they'd find their middle ground.

No perp would escape from these two. They are both very "bright boys". And you're so right, neither one is concerned with glory, just with getting the job done and getting to the truth.

As long as Scully and Eames kept an open mind about the other halves of the partnerships, they should all get along fine. :-) Scully is used to partners with eccentricities (sp?), since she's been with Mulder for so long. ;-PPP

Just 2 1/2 more hours! Although I live in CA, I have satellite TV so I get CI at 7:00. Unfortunately I have to rely on my trusty VCR tonight. My ex-father-in-law passed away and I am going to visit the family tonight. But it will be waiting for me when I get home.
OK, that sounds kind of cold, doesn't it? I really am not so cold that I would prefer to watch TV to visiting my ex's family--his sister was my best friend in high school and I love the family. I am just glad that I don't have to miss my VDO fix entirely.
