Not necessarily - we already know that an episode in the upcoming half-season will be devoted to the Trudy mystery. However, I can't imagine why they would bring in the Six Fingered Man until it was time to wrap the show up. I hope not.

Since the show's contract is to be renegotiated in November, and shooting for the winter season ends in November, the witers must have at least an outline for a series finale in mind just in case it is not picked up for another season.

Hmmm. Thanks Alex. But why 2 parts? I am afraid it can be epilog eppy, unfortunetely. sad.gif Something kinda first episode - Mr. Monk and the Candidate (also two parts). But I really hope it won't be the last eppy of MONK.

I hope so too szynek. But don't forget that there's always hope. It's probably going to be a wrong 6-fingered man...the one who may know something about Trudy's murder. Maybe he have a brother who have 6 fingers too... maybe they're twins...It's only speculation...

Yes, maybe it is wrong 6-fingered man, but... well, it's hard to say anything now. unsure.gif

Yeah, and that's true. They just have to have something... just in case. smile.gif

Polydactyly is fairly common, it happens in about 1 in 500 births, so having six fingers doesn't automatically mean that this is the guy. He might even be a criminal, dealing in shady activities that one of his 'co-workers' killed him for, but he might not be the one that killed Trudy.

What we read earlier this year was that they would finally have a suspect in Trudy's case, but when the suspect ends up dead, Adrian will be the primary suspect in his murder. The said it would be like the Monk version of the movie, 'The Fugitive'. He'll be on the run, probably trying to clear his name and figure out who killed the six fingered suspect (I really don't think Monk did it), most likely without anyone else's help, while still trying to find proof of whether this guy really killed Trudy or not and why. It's basically two separate cases that Adrian will be focusing on not really something that could be done in a single hour, so it doesn't necessarilly mean that it's the finale just because there are two parts. Technically, 'Goes To Jail' and 'Manhattan' were a two parts of the same story arc.

There is the possibility that they will wait until they know if the show will go on for one or two more seasons before they shoot the second half, or they may be planning to play the first part as the season finale and the second part as the next season opener.

Usually, they don't wait until there are only nine episodes left in a long running series to tell the fans that the show will be cancled. When/if that does happen, the fans are generally very upset and usually the shows stars, writers and everyone want to go out with a big finale and they need more time to plan it. 'On the Run' seems like it will be a bit of a bigger deal than the average episode, but I still think if they know it's the end, and they do intend this to be the big finish, they would be better off telling us. I think if at all possible they will want to give us more time to accept it than nine episodes till the end, eight if you count 'On the Run' as a single, two hour episode. Unless they want us pissed off.

I remember this article about Monk being a primary suspect and that he will point the suspect in Trudy's murder. If there would be season seven they could bring Ambrose and Monk's half brother Jack Jr, and his father, he must be reinstated...there's a lot more to tell...

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I think that there is a six fingered man, clearly, in the episode but that people are jumping to conclusions to think that this is Trudy's killer and that the show is ending just because of this. The six fingered man could be in a dream or something for all we know right now.
I'm very excited about the episode, none the less, and can't wait to see it!!
crazychrismonker
At any rate, regardless of how it turns out, it is nice to see they'll finally try a 2-parter; I've been hoping they would for some time now, so they can take a stab at a deeper tale.

That's true there will be six fingered man, but it'll not be a dream. Why? Cause Monk is accused of murder this six fingered guy and he runs (that's what the title tell us) "Mr. Monk is on run" What we can do is just wait...

That's what it sounds like to me. Does anyone know how far ahead of shooting an episode they do the casting? I know they don't always shoot episodes in the order they are shown, but if they are not planning to shoot this one until November, that gives it a better chance of being the season finale.

Yes, susan1017, please tell us what makes you think that?

Admin is being sly, you naughty...admin! We can't pin him down here, first we hope, then our hopes are dashed to the ground again.

There simply has to be a season 7. To leave all the story lines hanging untidily is cruel and unusual punishment.

What seems most likely to me is that it hasn't been 'written in stone' yet, but if things work out right, they are planning for this two parter to be the finale of this season and the opener for next season, and next season will be used to tie up the loose ends and focus on Adrian (and the fans) getting closure.

I hope there will be at least one more season so that they will have time to bring everything to a close properly. I can understand though, if the writers and actors are ready to move on and do something different. It must be getting harder to come up with new episodes, and they are probably ready for a bit more variety in their work. I just hope that they don't wait till the last few episodes to let us know that it's the last season.

Tony said in a recent interview he really wanted to do only one more year ,two at the most.
I honestly believe the show will be on one more season.
It's been a great run but all things have to end.
I am grateful for everything the show has given me.
The enjoyment ,meeting new people, sharing it with my family.
I have loved every moment

As long as this show continues to be insanely successful, and Tony Shalhoub does not feel an overwhelming need to leave, there will be "another season," whether it is number 7 or 17.

By the way, both parts are now scheduled.
reversechapter
All good things must come to an end. I have been saying this for the last two years, but they need to start revisiting the Trudy mystery and wrap things up. I love the show so much I'll keep watching to see the final episodes. I will admit there have been one or two good episodes over the last couple of years, but they have exhausted most good ideas and keep repeating themselves. For example, the holiday episode featured a "diversion" by the murderers, which has been done at least once before. I don't even know where, but I know they did it already. They can always do a "special" now and then, but this show jumped the shark about a year and a half ago. Face it.

It's from article which Keloheayata had posted in topic 'Writer's strike'. Here's a link to the article click here

And this is a part which is really interesting:

Spoiler:
Aside from this week's new episode, Tony Shalhoub also discussed the season finale, "Mr. Monk on the Run." For the first time in the series' six-season run, we will be treated to a two-part episode. According to Shalhoub, "It's kind of homage to The Fugitive. Monk gets accused of a crime and has to go is arrested but then goes on the lamb... And it involves a lot of clues about Trudy's death, and the six-fingered man and Dale the Whale even makes an appearance again in this episode."

Spoiler:
Episode Detail: Mr. Monk Is on the Run - Monk
Part 1 of the two-part sixth-season finale finds Monk on the lam after being accused of murder. Framed for the shooting death of a man connected to Trudy's case, Monk escapes from a small-town sheriff (Scott Glenn) and hopes to clear his name. However, the authorities are determined to find him, putting Natalie and Stottlemeyer in an awkward position when he comes to them for help.

Melora Hardin is also in this episode but I'm not sure in which part...

I so hope Christopher Guest will play the six-fingered man...or at least A six-fingered man. God, that would be so funny. "Hello. My name ees Inigo Monk-toya. You keell my Trudy. Prepare to die."
...of course that would mean Randy, Natalie, and Stottlemeyer are Westley, Buttercup, and Fezzik. I like this idea. Monk could scream and run away from some ROUSes. Fun day.
