To describe NASCAR appropriately: A bunch of people turning left for an hour.
I like that description! I'm not a NASCAR fan either.....never could understand what was so exciting about watching cars driving around for about 3-4 hours, and the waste of gas these days....
Anyway, the only time I went to a NASCAR race was up at Pocono, and I fell ASLEEP! No joke! And to think hubby loves it like he does.......

Hi Bubba here, I like NASCAR racing. There's a lot excitement whether on the track on in the pits. I like most of the drivers except Kyle Busch. I get it, if some don't. That's okay.

You're right about that Bubba....hubby loves NASCAR, doesn't understand why I don't, and I love old movies and reading, and it's not his cup of tea. That's what makes us individual, right? lol

When I was in labor with our younger son, hubby took command of the TV remote and put on Speed Channel, because an old Earnhardt Sr race (from when he had the Wrangler car) was on! Now, that's dedication!
If I had to choose between watching NASCAR and sweaty guys acting out male soap opera (as I like to term WWE), I will take NASCAR hands-down any day.

However, during my 1st labor with #1 Son, hubby tried to coach me while watching Backdraft--a movie he had on video, and it was USA, so it was played on a Fri-Sat-Sun rotation (#1 Son was born on a Friday night)!!!! AAAARGH.....not sure which was worse, Backdraft or NASCAR. Tough call, IMO. Now there's a reason to bring back general anesthesia for labor and delivery! lol

You can go over to the burn notice site and watch all the episodes from last season online to get caught up. Me and the Hubby did that! Gotta love Jeffery Donovan!

Sorry, I know this is off topic. But it surprises me that Saving Grace is so much lower than The Closer. Guess the lead-in doesn't guarantee The Closer fans will stick around for Grace. Personally, I am completely fascinated by Grace.
Now, back on topic. Although I wish CI had higher ratings than Monk and The Closer, it's nice to see that the ratings are staying pretty stable with all these other cable shows starting up.

The only thing I can figure is The Closer has been around longer and has had more time to build an audience. I don't get it, Saving Grace blows it out of the water acting wise. Monk and Psych getting higher ratings than CI ain't ever going to make sense to me either. Both of them are just too silly for me.

I think it's great the LOCI is doing so well in the ratings for cable. The fact that it has beat out the highly touted SG, IPS, BN, P, M and HM is really saying something! I, too, am a big The Closer fan, but am left cold by Saving Grace, so I change channels immediately at 9 PM CST on Monday nights. It would be a different story if CI was beating their reruns ... that's to be expected, but it's their first run shows it's picking off. Heck, it's even pounding the much ballyhooed Army Wives (another show I don't watch). Remember a couple of years ago, when everyone kind of wrote CI off as pretty much over? Thank goodness, NBC found a way to keep it going by switching it to USA. They are reaping the benefits.

According to:
http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_displa...791c1d024c30d93"According to Nielsen Media Research data for the week ended August 17, USA once again dominated its two core demos, averaging 1.27 million adults 25-54 and 1.13 million viewers 18-49, thanks to original series like Monk and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, as well as the Monday night wrestling showcase WWE Raw.
The decision to run USA’s original fare against live Olympics coverage didn’t seem to eat into the cable net’s ratings, as the August 11 installment of Raw averaged 4.67 million viewers between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., while a new episode of Monk scared up 4.65 million viewers Friday night at 9 p.m. On Sunday night, L&O: CI drew 4.64 million viewers, while 10 p.m. lead-out In Plain Sight closed out its first season with 3.78 million viewers."We almost did as well as Monk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
