Last night I found a bunch of mistakes and had to pull some rows out. Since this is my first project I'm not going to be so OCD about it. It has a drop stitch thingie that I'm gonna learn so most of the stitiching is going to come out anyway. That's how I justify it anyway.
I'm planning to do some Christmas gifts. Maybe I'll do a Randy WalMart sweater once I get good at it.
While I'm not OCD about much of anything I am when it comes to knitting or crocheting - I've been known to rip many times to correct mistakes. Those darn dropped stitches and split stitches can be a pain to correct. I'm happy you are trying and not trying to be fanatical about mistakes. It does add a personal touch.
My first knitting project was an afghan for my mom. It was lightweight yarn and she used it all the time. When she would get sick and be hospitalized she would take it with her and when she broke her hip she had to have it at the convelescent center. When she passed away (congestive heart failure) my sisters asked me if I wanted it back but I just felt it should be buried with her so my sister washed it up and the funereal home placed it over mom to just below her hands. It just seemed fitting somehow that it should be with her always.
Good luck when you try knitting with several colors in a pattern - it's not hard but keeping the skeins untwisted is a real pain. Post some pictures for us.
