Written: October 2, 2007
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – WWE Champion John Cena has suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon and is heading into surgery, according to noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete this Sunday at No Mercy, and he will have no choice but to surrender the title.
Dr. Andrews said Cena could miss between six and eight months of action. Cena was injured during his match with Mr. Kennedy Monday night on Raw. According to WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios, Cena's injury was more serious than initially thought.
"He has a complete tear of his pectoralus major muscle," Rios said. "Because he’s so big, [the tendon tear] is behind the muscle. It was hard to diagnose."
Rios said Cena will be hospitalized for a few days to learn the rehabilitation procedure he must undergo. His arm will be immobilized for a week and then therapists may allow him to start moving it so that the arm doesn't become stiff.
Rios said that Cena is so dedicated to WWE that he wouldn't be surprised to see him return sooner than later.
"I suspect that John might be able to come back sooner [than most people with this injury], as he’ll train vigorously," Rios said.
Before visiting Dr. Andrews, Cena had said last night, “No matter how serious the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.”
But despite Cena’s vow, WWE officials will not allow him to compete at No Mercy. Therefore, he must surrender the WWE Championship.
WWE officials vow that there will be a WWE Championship Match this Sunday at No Mercy and a new WWE Champion will be crowned.

WWE Champion John Cena suffered a complete right pectoral tendon tear Monday night on Raw. Surgery is required. As a result, Cena will be out of action for 6-8 months. The injury is so severe that they're not allowing him to compete in his scheduled championship match with Randy Orton next Sunday at No Mercy. He will have no choice but to forfeit the title. Here is WWE's official statement regarding the matter:

Looks like Cena-haters finally got what they wanted.
Chances are, HHH is gonna get the gold to feud with Orton.

Most of us don't want the guy to get a serious injury. Its just sad that the only way he'll lose the title is by him getting hurt.

I don't know who's going to win, and quite frankly, I really don't care.
I may not be a fan of Cena's, but he didn't deserve to get hurt like that.
and also, as far the next WWE Heavyweight Champion, as long as if it's NOT Triple H or Randy Orton, then that's fine with me.
and Randy Orton doesn't DESERVE the WWE Heavyweight Championship.
HE MUST PAY FOR HIS SINS!
He needs to be suspended and sent to rehab.
and thats all I'm gonna say.
I am SO UPSET with RANDY ORTON!
I wish Judge Joe Brown will call him a dog and jack him up.
and as for the next champ, I hope that it's someone like Jeff Hardy, a man who has worked his entire life to become the next WWE Heavyweight Champion and put his name on the list along with the likes of Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Superstar BilY Graham, Hulk Hogan, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and the late Eddie Guerrero.

I will NEVER GET OVER IT, OKAY!
and I WIL STAND on my own word!
I DON'T LIKE ORTON AND TRIPLE H, PERIOD!
@ least other guys on the RAW Roster don't showoff their butts!
That's just my opinion, I wish you would understand that.

Well I got that line from Jim Ross.
Remember when Benoit beat Triple H in the 60 minute Ironman Match?
Eugene got his revenge on him and cost The Game the World Heavyweight Championship and Jim Ross said "Triple H Paid for his sins"
So that's where I got that line from.
and also, did you read Lance Storm's Comments on the forum?
and also, I was just upset about the whole thing from last night.
and also, Jeff Hardy to be the next WWE Heavyweight Champion as well.

but i would love to see jericho wear the strap again

I understand.
and also, Jeff Hardy has held the following traditional titles in the WWE:
Light-Heavyweight Title (Before the WWE brought the Cruiserweight Title from WCW)
World Tag Team Titles
Hardcore Title
I-C Heavyweight Title from Triple H, John Morrison and Umaga
European Heavyweight Title from William Regal
But he almost won the traditional WWE World Heavyweight Title from The Undertaker in a Ladder Match from 5 years ago on RAW.
Well if Jeff Hardy does win the gold, then he will be the only guy in the history of the WWE to hold all 6 traditional WWE Titles.
how about that one?

I don't want Jeff Hardy to win that title (he probably won't even show up at shows to defend it )
No to Randy Orton.
Jericho would be awesome, Trips would be cool too.
(By the way i hope they get rid of that ugly Cena Championship Belt, worst design ,ever!)

They do need to get rid of that spinner title, b/cit has been 2 years and that is too long.
and also, the last time that the traditional WWE Heavyweight Title has been shown on TV, was when Eric Bischoff was about to strip Cena of the title and award it to Kurt Angle, but Vince didn't allow it.
Well Vince's Golden Boy is strip of the WWE Heavyweight Title.
I hope that they bring back this WWE Heavyweight Title:

Well let me ask you guys this:
Were you all getting tired of the Spinner Titles?
I mean 1st it was Cena's and then Edge's Rated R Title.
I mean Edge should've worn the traditional title and RVD could've worn the traditional title as well.
Hey don't get me wrong I like RVD, but the WWE should've let him wear the traditional title, but we all knew that Cena was going to get the title back.

I personally never, ever liked that spinner title, it looks ridiculous.

I didn't either and that's b/c when I 1st saw it, it looked like a Spinning Pizza.
But you know something?
When Cena had the World Tag Team Titles, @ least he didn't make another Spinner Title, and we knew that Cena & Michaels weren't going to hold those titles for too long.
and also, the WWE Heavyweight Title is NOT the most prestigeous title in Pro Wrestling.
It's the NWA World Heavyweight Championship @ least no one has turned that title into a worthless title.
and also, remember when Edge @ Lita were the World Champions?
Lita had the Women's Title, but @ least she didn't turn it into the Rated R Women's Title, but I felt like the only reason she won the title was b/c to make Edge a better person, but when Mickie James won the title back from Lita she brought the Women's Division back, but I didn't expect Lita to be humiliated on her last match, especially that no good Cryme Tyme, Lita is just like Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle, they were all humiliated @ Survivor Series.

Well I didn't watch much RAW ever since WCW had Monday Nitro, I always LOVED WCW and I still do to this day, but WCW had Saturday Night, Pro, Main Event and Worldwide as well as Clash of the Champions, but when Nitro and Thunder came, that's when it became very popular, but thankfully I watch TNA as well.
But RAW has went downhill especially with Hornswaggle running loose and torturing Melina as well.

I don't watch WWE as much as i did a couple o' years ago (big TNA fan), but i gotta say i'm real excited about a new champ being crowned , Cena's reign was long (and i'm not a Cena fan), but i didn't want him to get an injury ( and i would never wish that on anyone)
I just hope the Championship match will be entertaining and hopefuly have a surpise ending.

I've said it before and will say it again, Cena should use the time off and come back as a monster heel. By the time he gets back the Orton fued will have blown over and forgotten. I love the idea that Jeff Hardy could be the champ but it's just an idea. Since the title is not defended each week the champ must be on camera each week. He has the ring skills to be a fighting champion but his mic skills are just not enough. My whole problem with him is that I don't care about him one way or the other and it seems management feels the same since he gets no time to get better.
