I honestly think that Chris Meloni is the bigger obstacle to Elliot and Olivia getting together. I read/saw (can't remember) some interview where someone asked him whether the couple would end up together and he mentioned something like that would be jumping the shark. Whereas from the production blog (I think) Mariska said something like "trust me, we ALL want them to get together..." Maybe Chris feels tied too deeply to Elliot's moral, Catholic, family-lovin' roots. Maybe he just doesn't comprehend how freaking hot and non-jumping-the-shark EO would be... Someone needs to send him that "Bleeding Love ~ EO" youtube video linked in Sleuth's fanfic profile, so maybe he will truly appreciate that his character is putting Olivia's character through agony, and after 9 years she deserves a break! And she deserves to be pushed up against the lockers...

I agree. But, I also think that if that's the way the producers/writers wanted to go, that that's what he would do. And I bet he meant that it would be jumping the shark because a lot of producers fear the 'Moonlighting' curse. You know, that after UST is resolved that the show dies. And, that's true sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. But, I've seen it scare some of the toughest producers, so…

Chris did mention sometime last year that they were 'almost…not yet…almost' ready to get together. So, who knows, eh?

Yeah, when Mariska said that it gave me great hope. It's what I use to boost my spirits during the lean EO times. LOL

I mean, at first they were all like, "I don't think they'll ever get together." And then suddenly it's, "Not yet. It would kill the show."

As you can see, he and Mariska are both echoing the same sentiments; that if they hook up the show would be over. It's nice to know that they ALL want EO. Great really.

She does deserve a break. That's why they need to get busy with the EOness.

I came in a little late to this particular discussion, so I don't know if my take is unwanted. I could be nonsensical, and say the only thing keeping Elliot and Olivia from getting together is Dick Wolf's unwillingness to give the majority of SVU viewers exactly what they want. But honestly, this series gives depths to the characters, and it'd be tricky to have an episode worthy enough to lead up to an E/O kiss.

I don't know about you, but I couldn't see Elliot talking to Olivia at the morgue, and then all of a sudden professing his undying love. What could ever prompt him to say that?

That makes sense. But it's okay by me if they get together and it kills the show...they just have to get together right towards the end when the show is ending anyways. I'll be fine with that.

Oh, they could pull it off. I’ve seen fics do it, and they‘re not even professional writers. They just do it for a hobby. But, even from going just off of the series, I know they could do it, and do it well. If they want to and when they’re ready.

Well, goodness, he better not say anything in the morgue! Lol! But there are plenty of other places they frequent which have a *happier* air about them. The crib, the locker room, the roof, her apartment, their car on a stakeout. Any number of post-really-intense-crime-scene-locations -- these would be appropriate for some post-death-defying experience declaration-of-love/moment-of-passion/kiss. You know, he almost loses her, but this time doesn't let her get away...? Don't you think it could work? Maybe I've been reading too much fanfic? (Obviously, he'd have to be single at the time, so, ahem, can the writers get working on that?!)

I'm building a good case for the defense here, eh? I'm not trying to poke holes in EO, by all means. I'm just saying... Let me put it this way. If Undercover wasn't worthy of a huge EO moment, what is? And don't say Paternity, because Olivia wasn't even the one badly injured.

I'm guessing another Fault has to happen, but this time Olivia's life will be in jeopardy. And after a convenient sniper kills off the criminal, Olivia will leap into Elliot's arms and proceed to make out with him like a horny teenager.

Because people are invested in Olivia Benson, and so help us, you can not deny her a family and a good steady boyfriend for NINE WHOLE YEARS, and then tell us that on top of that she can't even adopt a kid. C'mon, give the woman a break. She needs a family. She obviously needs Elliot. They have a whole lot of fancy footwork writing to do to get to that point. But I have high expectations.

Law schools work a little differently than college. I majored in History and Political Science when I was in undergrad. In law school you take a pretty standardized curriculum your first year, and then after that you get to choose lots of electives. But there aren't really majors. You can choose different types of law you might want to focus in for your career. And for me -- that's either government work or civil liberties stuff. We shall see. I'm only a lowly 1L. Plenty of time to pick a direction.

Yes, her life has turned out a little tragic thus far. That's why she deserves some happiness. I'm continually impressed that the character Olivia Benson has so much crap happen to her but she maintains some sense of self -- even humor sometimes. But what I really want to see are Mariska's gorgeous smiles come out on Olivia's face. I can think of particularly great smiles when she was on the date with Superman in Starved. If only Elliot saw those smiles on a regular basis... he'd be like, Kathy who?...

It's called Love TKO (corny name, I know), and there's a link to my fanfiction profile in my signature. Long story short, Elliot goes blind, and when his eyesight comes back, he swears to 'live life to the fullest', and cherish what he's kept hidden in his heart for so long (Olivia). In the form of kisses, and naughty scenes that I will not go into detail about here. It's still in progress, but the first two chapters are up.
