I don't think it's that "Americans" are always rude....seems like it might be a New Yorker thing tongue.gif

That's why you gotta just chill in Chi. We're the best kind of people!!! (maybe a little arrogant, but hey! I am damn proud to be a Chicagoan!!)

Where are you from again? Are you actually in the city or just outside of it?

I live in Rodgers Park in Chicago. But we're moving to NYC next year, so I've been checking things out and trying to make connections so that we can move to the right neighborhood and know some peeps before we just go there and take the plunge. It's a tough move I'll tell you that. Nothing beats the wonderful extremities of Chicago. You got a fresh water lake that has the most beautiful beach. My husband and I go to the beach everyday with our dog. It's the best way to start the day and gives my dog exercise. I'm going to miss that the most. And then you have comedy! Everywhere! I mean, Chicago is the birth place of SNL and National Lampoon's and Second City- Blues Brothers, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, and Improv/ sketch. That's the reason why I moved here, and it's been quite a fabulous thing to learn and experience. If you haven't gone to Chicago Improv- GO! IO (Imrpov Olymic) is the best in my opinion. But Prat Fall at Second City is great right now too. And my improv group will be performing at Second City in January. I think we're calling the show "Permission to Fail", but it's up in the air at the moment. So come see me fools! I'll drop you's a line when I get the specific dates.

Oh and I just got back from seeing a play tonight- A MUST SEE! House Theater's "The Sparrow". Anyone in Chicago needs to see this show. It's so so so so so sos osos good! It's about a high school girl who's a super hero, and it is so brilliantly put together. Heart warming- chilling- funny- Brilliatn. There's very little set, but the way they use choreography and blocking and tiny things- like a locker door- or a magic trick- AHH! It was soo good. I actually felt like I was watching a movie at one point, because the way they set up the actors onstage it looked like the girl was flying up to the rafters to save this other girl from following. Brilliant. Gives you chills. If you're not in Chicago- you can buy their DVD's online at House theater.com. And it's totally worth it. I've never seen anythign done by this company that wans't amazing. They're the new Steppenwolf in my opinion. Screw "Wicked' This is what theater is about. Creating spectial without machinary and all the rikita racketa.

So yeah- Chicago rocks! Except for their hellacious bone freezing- indescribably cold winters- which honestly is one of the biggest reasons why I can't live here, Chicago is awesome and you should be proud to live here, but DAMN is it cold! I lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, and when I moved here I thought "OH- I can hanlde a little snow. A little wind." NO! No I can't. You will never understand how cold it is until you are standing in it. Somedays I just want to die. But all in all- great city, I have to move for career reasons otherwise- Chicago would be home. So that's that!

You're a Cubs fan, so do you live in the North side. Wrigleyville? Ravenswood areas?

Yeah. It was a lady from some sort of department (immigration, I think). I'm still a little put off by the whole thing. I saw the clip and Olivia was like..."the hell? Biatch stay away from my man". Lol.

LOLOL! You said Biatch!

You know why it was so off putting. Because they did it right after Paternity. I mean, Elliot - finally- reconcils his crappy behavior with both Kathy and Olivia. More so Olivia IMO, but still- we see the wall come down and we're expecting a new beginning with them in this episode. Like I wanted some banter and some laughter. And then they basically take the whole thing back to stage one with that freak'n moment by showing us one more reason why Olivia shouldnt' be with Elliot (Cough because he's too stupid to realize what he has and he keeps secrets from her).

That and I felt like the only reason why they did it was to make at least one white person come out with a positive expereince with an inter-racial relationship. Because all of the black people in this episode got crapped on by white people. Which I did't even think about, until they underlined it with this frigg'n scene.- Why do they need to apologize for these choices? If that was what needed to be done to create the point or the moral- then let it be. Don't feed us a bogos scene to make up for the negative inter-racial love train OR- my god- show us a happy inter-racial couple. But don't apologize for the white woman being a crazy jealous killer or you know don't make her white.

Honestly, she could have been any color. Because episode was abotu Paligamy not race, but they turned it into that when they randomly added the Elliot Immigration scene. IMO Ah- I'm just so tired of Television playing things safe to keep the uneducated masses watching. It drives me insane! I can just see Neil Bear in the writers room "What? You can't have that white woman kill the African girl. You're gonna have to make up for that some how. Keep writing." I could be wrong, but something tells me---because I've seen it done----that I'm not. It wasn't about the white woman killing the African girl Neil. It was about a family of piligamists not working out because the one wife got jealous. BUT YET- again- one more season 9 episode- where they try to JAM 800 different morals into one plot line. Can we focus on one thing at a time here people? Please for the love of god!

And some banter. I need some EO Banter!

here here! I say you and I take over the writing for SVU while these idiots are on strike. They lack talent so far, we can't be worse. The storyline sounds loaded (in a bad way). I was watching Damaged last night (ah, the good old times) and was rewinding the part where Olivia hands Elliot her coffee and tells him he should have called her cause she wasn't sleeping either. I want them to bring that back. NOW! Biotches.

I'm sure the conversation following that scene would have been very interesting had the writers chosen to explore it. Obviously, they didn't, and they left yet another storyline hanging.

I hope we get 366 episodes, that way when all the seasons go on DVD we can see one episode per day.
sharrie15
cool AND THAT i want to see some delected scenes
mrslee
We're speculating that season 10 will be the last season for MH and CM, because that's when their contract expires. However, they could choose to sign for another one, two or three years. But they both have young families and you can tell that MH probably wants another kid. I don't (especially with the 'quality' of the writing) see it going much further than season 10.

Lucky, we got snow.
mrslee
But snow's cool too! Literally. Lol. It hailed here yesterday so we kinda got snow, but I rather the sun and surf during the christmas holidays.

This is what it's like on Australia's best beach at Christmas. 90% of those in the photo are tourists. It's so fabulous.

Very crowded. And that's one beach. The one in the photo is Bondi, but then there's Manly, Curl Curl, Maroubra, Cronulla, Tamarama, Avalon, Palm, the list is endless. They range from huge beaches like Bondi (which is like 3km long...or 2.8 miles) to small private beaches. I love summer here!

That pretty. You guys got nice weather.
mrslee
Generally we do. But for the past two weeks the weather's been absolutely bonkers. It was raining cats and dogs last week and now it's muggy/hot and windy. So weird. But I love Sydney Harbour. There's a train station I sometimes get off at called "Milsons Point" and it's the first station after going over the Harbour Bridge. The view from there is so breath-taking and despite the noise of the traffic it makes me feel quiet inside. It's really gorgeous.
