Well we asked for a Kentucky show and we got one.
I was a little concerned because so many of my friends had shown an interest and at the last minute couldn’t attend. Then when we (my son’s fiancée was with me) arrived at around 4:00 in Louisville we walked down a couple of blocks and found a Friday Night Festival was taking place as well. They had the street blocked off and a stage set with live music.
After we got into Coyote’s we walked right up to the front of the stage and joined some other people we know (Lauren, Sandy, Trish, Janet) and some new friends we met (Karen and Diana). I looked at the mic stand and immediately knew the warm up band was going to be Matt Caldwell. Matt has an MC on his mic stand and I recognized it from the Joliet, IL show. I was a bit surprised when a guy I didn’t know came onto the stage first but waited and then Matt and his band came on. Matt and the guys played quite a few songs because Chris’ M&G line was long. One of the songs Matt played was “Just Add Beer” and the crowd joined in. Matt also pumped up the crowd every little bit just by saying “Chris Young” and everyone went wild!
Chris came on and was his usually awesome self! He played all our favorites from the CD: Beer or Gasoline, You’re Gonna Love Me, Lay It On Me, White Lightning Hit the Family Tree, Small Town Big Time, Flowers, Center of My World, He played cover songs: Don’t Close Your Eyes, Dust on The Bottle, Here’s A Quarter Call Someone Who Cares, and a Johnny Cash song (forgot which one sorry) And of course they played some of the new music we all love: Friday Nights, Bar Band, 21 Candles, Tequila & Salt, It Takes A Man. Oh, and not to be forgotten…Rich did his Bagpipes
It was a mixed crowd at Coyote’s with all ages and different styles of dress. Chris didn’t just reach the ‘country’ crowd but connected with everyone, winning more fans again. They wanted more (and let him know, not just yelling but pounding on the stage too) and Chris delivered with and encore. He sang Lauren’s request of Once You Go Cowboy!!
Thanks so much to Chris and the band (Kevin, Andy, Monty, and Rich) it was a wonderful night!!
