I was up for a challenge today and decided to tackle your search. cool.gif Had no idea about the writer of Waltzing Matilda and learned a lot about Banjo Paterson, including the fact that his original version is different than the one we are familiar with.

Are you hoping for a recording of the real Banjo singing? He died in 1941, so this could be tricky.

If this is the case, say so, and I'll share what I found.

Do you remember where you heard the original version you're looking for?

Look in your messages. I'll spare the entire forum from the tedious detail I'm sending!

Thanks for bringing up this subject; I had never heard of this man before. Banjo was quite an interesting guy. He also wrote The Man From Snowy River, from which the movie was made.

If anybody wants to hear a piano recording of the original Waltzing Matilda that's somewhat different than the one we are used to, go to http://www.uq.edu.au/~mlwham/banjo/waltzing_matilda.html . There is a little sound icon to click right above the sheet music.

do you know why they played that at the end of that episode? Just a little trivia....the man who played Mick Brumby(Trevor Goddard) had died.

You are right. Wasn't that tribute a clip of the earlier show when Brumby had left JAG to go back to Australia, and the gang began singing Waltzing Matilda as he walked out of McMurphy's?
