WE sprung two leaks, wind is picking up but will get worse, looking at the news, lower parishes are flooding, I feel so sorry for them, One man his house was moved 50 feet off its foundation for gustav, now for Ike the water is up 8 feet and flooded it. They say the water is worse than for Katrina in some New Orleans areas, so if your evacuating from texas don't come this way, the water will get pushed up from the south, guess we will see if our area will flood. Lets hope not, we don't have flood insurance, but then again, the rain already ruined our floor. Prayers go out to west louisiana and Texas. We are on voluntary evacuation, but staying put. We might lose power again, so if yall don't hear from me don't worry.

Jryan.

Hi, everyone! There is a thread in svu forum which they posted a Preview clip. It's fantabulous. The clip will make you jump off your seats. Take a quick peek in our forum when you are free. Check out their new pictures, too. Elliot and Olivia are hot, but Elliot? He makes me weak in the knees biggrin.gif

Already, some dislike the new ada Kim Gaylek (Michaela McManus), ciaddict. She acts as if she was knew better than Elliot and Olivia in the clip, but I decided to give her a chance and see how she handles complicated cases. I miss Casey. smile.gif

Well, as I recall Casey ruffled Elliot and Olivia's feathers in her first episode. So maybe this new one will settle in.

Hold on Flashy! This one is windy, we are getting a lot of rain and wind, we sprung more leaks, the wind is letting the rain get under the tarp. At least the ceiling is holding on. Around midnight we got up and had to move some furniture to protect it. Seems my dinning room set is handling getting wet pretty well, don't know if I should ask for them to replace it, don't know if in time it will react to the water. Saved my Printer/fax, and my sofa in time. A new leak in my utility room. Told my hubby he better call and get us on the wait list for a roofer. I guess in a way the hurricane helps the ecomomy. My prayers go out for the people of West La, and Texas.

Thought we had a tornado this morning, heard this loud sound, ran out to see, two large Military choppers flew over my house, racing down the bayou, the levee's broke, they are getting flooded, due to the storm surge, and people are trapped. So they are heading out to rescue. Grand Isle one of our barrier Islands, is under 4 ft of water, people are trapped there too the water came up so fast. I can't complain too much because I heard that gasoline is now around 5 bucks a gallon in some parts of the country BUT:
We went out to run a few errands including going to the bank and gassing up the Jeep. We went first to the bank. We passed the "cheap" gas station on the way. Gas was $3.43. Pretty good relatively thinking we said. An hour, it that, later when we got back to the gas station the price had jumped to $3.59. ohmy.gif

Our gas here in IL was $3.59 earlier this week and jumped to $3.89 on Wednesday and went down a couple of cents the next day and then today jumped to $3.99. I figured it was due to Ike.

Which by the way, sending all thoughts and prayers to everyone and hoping they stay safe from Ike.

I was reading my newspaper today and I ran across something and immediately thought of CInsane. We have a movie coming out today called "Beer for my Horses" which has Toby Keith and Willie Nelson in it and I am guessing it is based on Toby's video of the same name. I loved the video and song. Sounds good and may go see it.

Just heard the news and they say we may get more money in the form of another stimulus check. Didn't say how much or when but though that was interesting to put in here. I am just full of info.

Shades of Rita all over again....N.O. flooded a second time from Rita's storm surge, just like y'all are flooding again over there from Ike's. Cameron Parish courthouse had 4 ft water in it by noon......Surfside Beach, at Freeport, Texas, is under 7 - 8 feet of water, High Island has disappeared.....this is really bad; have not had storm surge like this since storm of 1900 and Carla in '64.

The potted meat will be there soon, Jryan. It just takes a while to get the meat back from Mississippi...

Have you guys seen Chris Meloni's TV movie "Gym Teacher" on Nick? He was so goofy and funny in that movie, and I cracked up at the "Cute butt" comment! biggrin.gif

Haven't seen it yet but it's on my DVR. Plan on watching it later. It will be different to see Chris Meloni in a role different from Stabler. My son wants to see it too as the actor playing the kid is in iCarly. It's a family movie. smile.gif

Thank God I got my refund from the Myrtles. So we got some money in.

Hang on Flashy, I see by the radar yall are getting hammered. The rain here finally stopped, we still getting some wind. In the lower areas of our parish people are flooding bad with the South winds coming in. One man they interviewed on TV broke down in tears, his house had 9 feet of water. The levee's broke. Also Grand Island is under 5 feet of water. They lost their total new levee system. That was our last barrier Island, but they always rebuild, 100 people got trapped when the water came up so fast. These places supply the nations seafood, natural gas and oil, so it's not like the nation can do without them. So they rebuild every time but emotionally it takes it's toll. One guy on our local station, broke down he said he couldn't take it anymore, he has lived here all his life, but he was tired of rebuilding. They got water for katrina just 3 yrs ago, then gustav, and now this, he said for his sanity he has to leave. I felt so bad for him. I know I was born here, I have never lived any place else, neither has my husband, all our family is here. I have had three address in my life, all of them in Houma, I have dreamed of living in different places when we go on vacation, but can't imagine living away from my family. My husband is 53 and has worked for the same company since he was 20, He might complain about it, but I don't think he would ever leave it. After hearing what these people are going through, I feel so bad about complaining about my damages, they are so minor compaired to having flood waters going into your home ruining everything, I was looking at the people who had it better than me, who didn't have damages, instead of looking at the people who had it worse. My husband asked me, how can God do this. I said, How do you know it's God? And if it is him, maybe he does it to wake us up. We go on day to day, taking things for granted. Then this happened, I was saying why me? Poor me? But now, I am thanking God, that this is all that happened.

We have insurance so what did we lose?

A roof-- it was 10 yrs old. Well eventually we would need a new one anyway.

floor- Well the carpet was stained- parts of the kitchen floor was coming up, it needed replacing anyway.

Things in the attic- well we were suppose to have a garage sale-, well the insurance will probably give us more than we would have made in a garage sale.

They said they would give us a new stove and refrigerator- well we cleaned them up and got them working, but the money for the new ones will help with deductible.

Fence- New fence.

Well the worse thing will be inconvience. Oh well, grin and bear it. Time will pass. We also will get tax dectuctions. Clean attic. New paint job, I am forced to clean up the house. So when it's all finished, it will seem like a new house!

Oh, but I lost my tiger, well Aimee was allergic to the cat, so I couldn't bring myself to get rid of him, so I guess it was for the best.

SO glad you're OK JRyan! I've been wondering about you this morning. I'm glad things are looking better for you.

I posted this in the fanfic section, so I'll just copy it here.

Hey guys, I got an e-mail from FM this morning.

No power, but still here. Very high winds, still. Neighbor's home improvement store 5 blocks away has power, so very hopeful we could have power before too much longer, pref by end of day. I'm going to write down your number and call you later.

I've been watching The Weather Channel and it looks like they are getting 60 mph winds in her area. I can't tell what is going on in Houma. Hope JRyan is OK. If I hear from FM anymore today, I'll let you know. Her computer has a battery, so she may not be able to use it much until the power comes back on.

Hmmm what is potted meat, who knows what is in potted meat, once I think they found rat whiskers in it. Looks like meat that was chewed up and put in a can. could be compaired to What deviled ham looks like I guess be so long since I seen Deviled ham, isn't that all mushy? Spam has shape, Love spam spagetti, but haven't had that since I was a child. The old days, they would make spagetti out of anything, lol.

Here it is! I used to eat it with mayo on bread, but not since my 20's and since my surgery my taste have changed, my hubby eats it on bread with syrup. Also vienia sausage.

and If your going to have Mayo, you have to have Blue Plate Mayo, I won't eat anything else.

oooo found this on wikipedia
ingredients of potted meat.
  • Hormel: Beef tripe, mechanically separated chicken, beef hearts, partially defatted cooked beef fatty tissue, meat broth, vinegar, salt, flavoring, sugar, and sodium nitrite.
  • Libby's: Mechanically separated chicken, pork skin, partially defatted cooked pork fatty tissue, partially defatted cooked beef fatty tissue, vinegar, less than 2% of: salt, spices, sugar, flavorings, sodium erythorbate and sodium nitrate.
Oh and hubby doesn't like Libby's lol. he prefers Hormels or Armours, guess its a better beef tripe or beef fatty tissue or hearts, lol. But Libby's tends to be waterery. Just incase you wanted to be informed on your potted meat, lol.
