I snitched a piece of the pumpkin (I had to make sure that the crust wasn't burnt). It wasn't too bad for following the recipe on the can.
I can't wait for my sweet potato pie. That's my mom's "recipe" (we typically don't follw recipes to the letter). The uncooked filling tasted awsome, so I can't imagine how the real thing is going to taste.

Pumpkin pie is my favorite--especially my mother's. She makes the best crust in the world (and I have never been able to copy it to my satisfaction). Sadly, my mother rarely makes pumpkin pie anymore. My sister and I have an ongoing disagreement about whether Marie Callanders or Costco makes pumpkin pie closest to Mom's. I say Marie Callander, she is adamant about Costco.
Having been a vegetarian for the last 20 some years, my contribution has always been the cornbread stuffing and Cream Cheese Patties. Even though none of my kids have been vegetarian for several years, they all insist that we have to have the Cream Cheese Patties (and it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the rest of my family making fun of them!). Since I have been eating meat this past year, I told my daughter that I thought I would skip the Patties this year. I was joking--and she was not amused! Traditions are traditions. After all, what would my family have to make fun of if I didn't bring them?

I've noticed that several retail stores and resturants will be open on T-Day. So, the question is would you shop at a store that is open on Thanksgiving? Personally, I think that there is something deeply wrong with working on Thanksgiving unless you work in a field that is neccessary (hospitals, police, etc.). Is K-mart really neccesary? Yes, you can get 100 pairs of socks for .99 cents, but is saving money worth making someone miss spending time with their families or friends? Discuss!

I hate the thought of it especially if some of the employees don't want to work. I remember when stores in Massachusetts couldn't even open on Sundays. (old I know

) I know it's been said for years but it seems that they start pushing Christmas earlier and earlier every year. In the Boston area where I live there are three radio stations that are already playing Christmas music 24 hours a day. How long before the stores start opening Christmas so that people can start making their returns?

Hey, KRod- send some bourbon my way!
No shopping on Thanksgiving- it just saddens me how this country has forgotten its history:
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle, or the ship; the axe had enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

Next week olivia and Kathy in bad accident. Who will elliot worry about more, his partner, wife, will one live or die? Well olivia can't die, If Kathy dies, Elliot will have to raise all those kids by himself. Will Kathy lose the Baby? Wasn't the Baby the reason they got back together, so if she loses the baby will it break them apart. Tune in next week for SVU. Will they draw it out over the whole episode, or will it be solved in the first 10min like Elliot's Blindness.

Do you want answers based on the preview? Or spoilers on the SVU boards?
I'm not actually offering either, since I've been "spoiled"; I'll just wait to see what happens. Maybe I'd speculate, but on the SVU board.
Elliot wasn't even blinded until minute 13:something, so it wasn't solved in the first 10 minutes. Heh heh. But it WAS over by the end of the ep (40 minutes), so it didn't take 'em much longer than that, once it happened.
I was just glad it wasn't one of those eps where Stabler is, say, tossed through a window in the teaser, and we don't see him for almost the rest of the whole show. 'Cuz I need my Elliot/Olivia interaction.

The teeny boppers scare me too. They are fiercely defensive of E/O. I don't think they could have the different ships like we do with out a full out board war. We are at least civilized and know it's not that serious.
Okay, I looked it up on the Paternity Thread and here's the link I found over and over. I looked on NBC and they still have stuff up for Fight.
