i was in class (7th grade) when 9/11 happened we stayed at school but we didnt have classes we all just watched i remember seeing the 2nd tower get hit .. i was just stuned.. i couldnt believe it ! ..my cousin who took care of me had been talking to a girl online that lived in new york ( they were planing on dateing when my cousin moved away) and my cousin was terrified ...
9/11 was a kick in the complacency for our country...
I, too, happened to see Columbia blow up on live TV. That was wild....
I was teaching first grade on 9/11 and we had just finished giving the fall assessment. It was a beautiful day and we were going outside for recess. We knew nothing. It was around 10 o'clock my assistant principal came on the PA to say we were in a lockdown and we couldn't go outside. We didn't know why, so my instructional assistant went to find out. When she came back she told me. I'll never forget the look on her face when she re-entered my classroom. We went over to my radio behind my desk and listened as the second tower fell. We just stared at eachother in disbelief. Meanwhile, my students just sad quietly at their desks. They were barely talking. They knew something was wrong.

Poor kids. It had to be the toughest on them. 3,251 children lost a Parent on that day.
