These are all awesomely beautiful pics. I need to get a better camera and take more pics of my area. I live in the Mo. ozarks. A lot beautiful scenery here too. Like you, Jeanine, I am fascinated with water. Put me in it or on it and I am happy.

You guys may have already seen these on another thread but here are a couple from my area.

Tminus 5 years until we move to the Ozarks. My s-i-l lives in Warrensburg, and we are all moving to Stone, Taney or Christian Counties. Taneycomo and Table Rock are gorgeous!

JRyan- hope all is well with you- keep us posted. Praying for you!

Tashfallen- feel better!

Wooooow, Kimberly, did you take those? Those are incredible!

Warrick is dead. . . Warrick is dead. . . . Warrick is dead. . . sad.gif

I did not take all of those, no. I have tons opf pictures though, since I am a bit of a photography addict...now get me close to VDO with my camara and let me lose! smile.gif

Great pictures of Michigan, Kim. If I was going to go to the States, I'd probably pick Washington DC, NYC, and maybe Utah & Wyoming. Speaking of vacations my parents are in Sheffield, England for a few days visiting my uncle and other relatives before they spend the rest of their vacation in France. Then my sister is going to Hawaii for a few weeks. I'm just going to be sitting at home relaxing and wondering about how I'm going to pay my VISA bill. That's the only bad thing about quitting a job you hate: no money. sad.gif

Thanks...Virginia is also a beautiful state. Maybe its me, but I like hills and valleys and waterfalls and streams...its comforting to me to be surrounded by nature.

QUOTE (ciaddict @ May 15 2008, 11:43 PM) *
OK, I'm jealous of Kim's pictures. There are lots of spectacular sights in CA, but I concentrated on close to home. Everyone knows about Yosemite, but not so many know about Sequoia Kings Canyon. Its not too far from me. In fact my sister and brother-in-law have 40 acres bordering the national park.

What would we be without the Giant Redwoods?

And of course, everyone has to drive through the tunnel tree!

Wonderful pictures...the waterfall is gorgeous and I have only seen little redwood trees, when we were at Lake Tahoe a couple years ago. I would love to see those huge ones!

Hills? Wow, We have to drive a long time to see hills, or mountains down here, But Bridges, hey we got a lot of those, we have so many bayous and waterways, your always crossing a little bridge here, The east and west side of town is separated by the intracostal waterway, I remember when my son was an infant, he is 25 now, we had a hard freeze, which we hardly ever get so we weren't prepared for, I had to go get him at my mom's who was on the East side, now the East side is like an island, the only place to go is the Gulf of Mexico, everything and the rest of the world is on the West side, well we made it to the East side, Well at that time their were 4 ways to get to the East side, two low lying bridges, an over pass, and a tunnel, well the tunnel was out, the overpass was frozen, the two bridges were ok for us to get over, but by the time it was time to get back they had frozen over too. The East side was cut off, from the rest of the world till morning, lol. So what did the smart Houma Government do? They torn down the two low lying bridges and built another overpass, luckly in the last 25 yrs we never had a freeze like that again. But... who knows. Luckly I live on the West side, but mom and dad are still on the East, lets hope the south doesn't go into an ice age, lol.

Two hours till my doctor appt.

Did I ever show you my Pink plantation? Its near my house, Called Southdown Plantation. Its a museum now.

I love the style of the old plantation houses...maybe I am a southern bell at heart?

I like the Crunch ones.

This looks like the forest surrounding the city of the ancients in FF7. I wonder if Northrend will have a zone like this when Wrath of The Lich King comes out? That would be spectacularly awesome. As a native Floridian I have never actually seen snow in person.

Albino deer. That's awesome! They're so pretty! I hope if you have a hunting season in your area they don't shoot them... I know hunting is good in moderation to keep the population controlled, but with their bright coats I'm betting it makes them bigger targets.

Did you take this one? What an amazing shot.

I know what my state is shaped like... Maybe we should get an infuriating pink sheet for it?

Snow...thats mild compared to what we get in the UP(upper pennisula). My gram raised my dad was out in the boonies, about 20 miles through the woods from Lake Superior. She had old slides of the winters there. The house looked like a snow drift with windows. She said you would open the front door in the morning and have to cut a way through the snow to go to work. She had tons of old black and white pictures, it was just beautiful. She did say she hated being chased by black bears, from the clotheslines or the outhouse!

As for the albino deer, most do not live very long. As with any albino animal they tend to have other health issues and also stand out too well, so predators can easily pick them out.

I have other hummingbird photos. but I have to look back through the cd's we put them on.

Okay hopefully these wont be too big...see next post...

THE MOON FLOWERS IN MY YARD. THEY ONLY BLOOM AT NIGHT, SMELL LIKE A LILY AND CLOSE AND DIE BY THE NEXT EARLY AFTERNOON OR MORNING. THEY ARE HUGE, ABOUT AS BIG AS ONE OF VDO'S HANDS. wink.gif

THESE ARE ALL MACINAW ISLAND. THERE ARE NO MOTOR VEHICLES ALLOWED THERE. YOU CAN ONLY GET TO IT BY FERRY BOATS. YOU GET AROUND THE ISLAND BY CARRIAGES OR BY BIKES. THEY MAKE MACINAW ISLAND FUDGE, SO ALL YOU CAN SMELL IS CHOCOLATE! THEY MADE A MOVIE ON THE ISLAND. IT STARRED CHRISTOPHER REEVES AND JANE SEYMOR, CALLED "SOMEWHERE IN TIME". THE HORSE AND BARREL IS FOR FIRES, THE BARREL IS FULL OF WATER. THE ROCK IS CALLED ARCH ROCK, FOR OBVIOUS REASON. IT OVERLOOKS LAKE MICHIGAN AND BEHIND IT IS A HUGE DROP, PROBABLY OVER 100 FT, STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE ROCKY BEACH AND THE WATER. THE PICUTE FROM ABOVE IS FROM THE FORT. IT USED TO BE A WORKING FORT, BACK IN THE FORT DAYS wink.gif

THE POTATO STORAGE BARNS DOWN THE ROAD FROM ME, THIS SPRING. LOTS OF SNOW THIS YEAR.

SUMAC IN SNOW, NEAR MY HOUSE WHERE I LIKE TO WALK AT NIGHT.

MY GRANDPA (HE DIED WHEN I WAS ONE), WHEN HE WAS IN THE ARMY.

Made me laugh talking about the shape of States, when my kids were little when we would travel out of state when we were leaving or coming back, instead of the " are we there yet" the kids would always ask are we out of the boot yet? Or on the way back, Are we back in the boot yet? And in relationship to Louisiana being a boot we live in the toes, lol.

The mask marks the spot.

More great pictures, Kim.
Glad you're OK, JRyan. And I love the "boot" story.

Prince Caspian opens today. I think my daughter and I are going after she gets out of school. We are big Narnia fans. When I used to have to drive her to the bus in the mornings, she would read to me from the books. We read through the entire series that way. I had only read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when I was younger.

It is long, over 2 and a hlaf hours and they didnt even show previews, but it was worth the time.

I have 8 weeks till my appt with the surgeon, I want to lose 40 more pounds, so I decided to go on my salad diet. As long as I get 60 grms of protein a day, I should be fine. Since I talk Vitamins for the rest, I always add grilled chicken to my salad and have eggs for breakfast, so if I increase my exercise and really watch what I eat, I should be able to lose most of it before seeing my doctor, then I am sure I will have a few weeks before my surgery. So time to really get serious. So if yall don't see me too much, its because I am off exercising. Wish me luck.

I 'snipped' some pics to save space, cluck - When I was younger (much), we'd go to Baltimore to visit my dad's family. When my son was little, I took him and my niece and nephew to Inner Harbor. We loved it (and my son recognized it when we watched Subway (HLOTS with VDO)).

The Bay Bridge scares the pants off me! I remember laying down in the back seat when my dad would cross over it. THe first time I drove over it, my son (not knowing what I used to do) laid down in the back seat. I laughed/cried at the same time from the memory. smile.gif

I'm loving all the pictures. Although I live near the mountains, the ocean is just a 2 hour drive away and is my favorite place in the whole world!

We just got back from seeing Prince Caspian. AWESOME!!! My daughter thinks its better than the first. I don't think its better, but definately as good as. Its been so long since we read the book that I didn't remember much. However, my daughter reread it just last week in preparation for today. They took some liberties with the book, and she had to tell me every one! But even though it deviated from the book, she loved it.

And so that I don't ruin it for anyone: spoiler alert!

Spoiler:
The White Witch was NOT in the book, but she makes an appearance in the movie. I told my daughter, "Well, its good to see Tilda Swinton again. She kissed VDO, ya know." She just rolled her eyes!

Haha! I can't drive over it and when I'm in the car, I have to look at my feet. When you approach going East, it curves and the east bound span is only 2 lanes, all you see is water on both sides....I can't help the feeling that I'm going to fall.

Kim and Ciaddict -- ya'll have The Son and Hubby excited about going to see Prince Caspian. I want to go, too, but since it's too much for The Princess, I may have to wait until the DVD comes out......

Have ya'll had days like this? I'm not even 40 yet, and I already suffer from it:

AAADD
KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out th e garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye-- they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was plannning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

This is definately me I didn't realize I was in such bad shape. lol

My computer is slower than me this so will put all my replies on one.

1st I am so glad Jyran's lump is only a hernia. She had me going for an instant when she said it was a boy. She is truly a wonder for what she has accomplished. Can't wait for the half nude pics.

I have really enjoyed the wonderful pics from where everyone lives. I guess we all live in beautiful places if we just take the time to look. Someone said Illinois wasn't so pretty, maybe not, but I used to live in Granite City, Ill., as young woman, and I sure had a lot of fun there.

I got my daughter to take some pics of the spring flowers around here the other day. She has a good camera. Hope to post them soon.

Oh, the Adventures of Aging!

AAADD-I go to the store with the a list of things I need in my head. I remember "how many" items I intended to buy, but am one short of "what" they were. It's frustrating to know there is another item, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is, until I'm in the car stopped at the traffic light, etc.

And, it seems that I never can find what I need (i.e. the keys) right when it's time to leave for work or when I'm running late and the place is about to close. I've stopped collecting discount coupons, because the coupons are always at home when I'm at the store.

And, I go to get the extra checks, and when I open the drawer, I can't figure out why I'm in that drawer. I run across things dozens of times when I don't need them; then can't find them when I do. Now where did I put the LOCI schedule, I was going to post this morning?

Now, what was it that I planned to do this (Saturday) morning? And, why did it have to be done before Noon? blink.gif

Your son is going to love Prince Caspian! But he is going to be sword fighting for weeks to come--watch your breakables!

I definately have A.A.A.D.D. Wonder if there is a support group around here. Probably not--the members would never make it to the meetings. They would all end up at Home Depot looking for water hoses. laugh.gif

Haha! I can't drive over it and when I'm in the car, I have to look at my feet. When you approach going East, it curves and the east bound span is only 2 lanes, all you see is water on both sides....I can't help the feeling that I'm going to fall.

I have more interest in traveling through out the US than I do going to Europe. I wish I could go to all 50 states.

I remember that bridge well - riding while my father drove, I could at least hide in the backseat. Driving it had to be one of the scariest experiences of my life since I was so afraid of going into the water.

I'm in agreement with you. Although I would LOVE to visit Ireland, my first wish would be to travel the US first. We have so much here to see and appreciate that I'd just love to take off in my car one day and start touring.

I snipped quite a bit to save space - but this is me to a 'T' - I go into the kitchen for something and have to go back to where I started to see if something will jog my memory about why I went into the kitchen in the first place. tongue.gif The memory is the first thing to go - I forget what's next! laugh.gif

I was born with that disorder. LOL Trying to remember someone's name, the name of the band who performs the song your listening to and it's right there on the , as I like to say, 'tip of my brain' but I can't quit retrieve it. Aaaarrrrgh that drives me crazy!!!! Seriously it causes an almost physical pain in my head. Then usually it will pop into my mind when I stop trying to remember. LOL

Isn't that always the way though. I could tell you the first five books of the Bible, quote Shakespeare any hour of the day and mention that E = MC2, however, it would be more useful to me to remember where I put my keys... but that fact alludes me!!

The brain is a funny thing!!

I haven't watched CSI since they 'shipped' Grissom and Sara. I heard Gary Dourdan was leaving the show but didn't know this week was his final ep - I would have watched since I LOVE Warrick. So, did he live or die? I read about his rl issues and was saddened for him. sad.gif

Our state is wonderful, we have great seasons, nice weather, beautiful sights and many things to see & do...don't give up on a state you've never visited! wink.gif

The only places I visited were Las Vegas and Illinois where my other relatives are. These are great pictures, KimT! I liked the green one near the boats. It is a nice view to have a picnic there. I am certain some of my cousins have been to Michigan. The Bridge reminds me of The Golden Gate. biggrin.gif Thanks for sharing these!

I have been to Yosemite once, Ciaddict. I even have pictures in front of the 2,000 year old trees! They say when you kick it or touch it, they will die. I love the 3 Brothers Mountain. smile.gif
