I've been thinking Air Force--i'm definitely going in as an officer.
The marines made me a really good offer the other day that i keep thinking about though.

I've always wanted to be in the Navy, but thats the worst branch for women. wacko.gif

Crazy stuff.

Don't you have to have a college degree or have gone through ROTC to go straight in as an officer? Or are they that desperate these days?

Air Force is good for sciences and aerospace, Marines I couldn't say. I'd have to agree that the Army probably offers the most choices, but lacks the specialization that other branches do.

Marines do work closely with the Navy as was mentioned.

Your recruiter is in sales not counciling. If they promise you ANYTHING, make sure it is in writing in your contract before you sign anything. Doesn't matter if it's an extra piece of fruit at chow, get it in WRITING. Anything that's not written when you sign might as well have never happened.

Read everything with your mom before you sign too. Two pairs of eyes can catch more loopholes than one.

In other news: Yesterday morning I was lamenting not getting any hits on finding a roommate or a place to live. I got an email in the afternoon about a place I had emailed about on Monday. I called the guy and talked to him, saw the place, hung out a bit, and it's pretty much a done deal that I have a new roommate!

I have to talk to his step-dad about the money stuff (his mom owns the condo) today, and fill out an application with the condo association, but as long as that goes well, which my new roommie didn't forsee any problems with, I have a lovely new home. It's only a couple of miles from where I live now, really just on the other side of the highway, and puts me even closer to my job.

Now I just have to have enough money to take my kitty to the vet so I can clear up her sinuses. I don't know how much it'll be, but I don't want her sneezing all over the new place. Poor runny nose kitty.

Valley, I've just had a thought which should really make your day: Go to college and get your bachelor's, something in liberal arts: communications, speech, history, polisci, whatever. Study the heck out of it and make really great grades. Then, join the Navy. Get them to pay for you to go to LAW SCHOOL.....are you following me? Become a JAG lawyer -- maybe you'll find your own "Harmon Rabb" and live extremely happily ever after! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

She's had the runny nose issue for ages. My friend who was a vet tech told me once that it was because her nose was shaped funny. When I took her in for her shots though, the vet said that it was some kind of virus and some meds would fix her up. I just didn't have any extra money outside of paying the rent and bills to afford it for her. I only got her shots because they had a low cost clinic for them and they were required for the complex. Now that my credit cards are all taken care of, I have some extra to be able to pay for it.

I had a kitty that had a runny nose all the time. Turns out she had allergies. She was on meds the whole time I had her inside with me. The cure? Tho I didn't like it, the vet suggested letting her go outside. And she was NEVER a boogery cat after she became an inside/outside cat. That's the only inside/outside cat I have had since my cat Binzer got shot by a kid with a pellet gun, 20+ years ago.

I hope your kitty is better soon. smile.gif

That's so funny, Flashymom, I was going to suggest the same thing! Great minds and all that, right? I just hope it doesn't take 9 years for Valley to get her Harm to the altar! Makes for great TV, but in RL it would be too frustrating.

Hahah, you know, i've always wanted to have a situation like Harm and Mac's. Too bad things don't always work out the same. I'm getting my Asscociates[sp?] Degree in May and moving on to SSU for my 4 year in Criminal Justice.
People used to think i should be a lawyer cause i like to argue, and i could talk my way out of any situation.

Gots to go to class now. Everyone have a nice day!

When I am not in the mood, I go to YouTube and listen to one of my favorite Beatles song which was You Cant Do That and I Wanna Hold Your Hand. I loved when John and Paul were younger. I don’t know, but I just do. Now I am heartbroken since that Eli Manning got married to his longtime, college sweetheart Abby McGrew. I drown myself into listening Dave Matthews Band greatest hit One Sweet World, which helped me to move on and face reality. By the way, Dave Matthews has amazing voice!

Thanks to my dear friends for encouraging me to listen to the songs at the time of rejection.

I noticed on the USA Website that a "Detective Logan" LOCI Marathon is being planned for Sat, May 25.

There's a sheet on the site where fans can "vote" for their 5 favorite "Logan" episodes; so they can air the most popular ones.

Sorry, I didn't see any similar arrangement for Goren/Eames Episodes, but it's possible to vote for In The Wee Small Hours (both parts) and Stress Position on the Logan List (all of which are also Goren/Eames episodes).

So I got off work early to take the Raging Teenager to the doctor, which took all of 30 minutes, and so I have the rest of the afternoon to myself. Since I don't have internet at home yet, I transferred a paper I'm working on to a USB drive so I could come to my mother's house and work on the paper, and chat with all of you. Except I can't find anyplace to plug in the USB! I see the place for disks, but nowhere do I see anyplace to plug in a USB. And she has it wedged between the desk and the filing cabinet so I'm too chicken to pull it out to look on the back. If I mess up something on my mother's computer I'll have to go into Witness Protection! So I guess I won't be working on my paper until later tonight at home. Seemed like such a great plan! Oh well, now maybe I can read up on some of the fan fiction.

In Vault's absence (Does anyone know where she is?), I've been trying to keep information on the Actor's Union Negotiations posted on that Thread.

It seems that April 30 was kind of a mini-deadline; things aren't going so well as we would want.
(Check into the Negotiations Thread for better detail).

I guess if they're are still talking, there's still hope that SAGs Contract can be settled by June 30.

AFTRA seems to have better relations with the studios at this point, but then, their negotiations on Daytime TV aren't set to "begin" until May 05.

Hey Jude is one of may favorites too. When I had my optical shop, it was playing on the radio system and an older lady came in and remarked that was the worst music she had ever heard. I just gave her a blank look. I did tone the music down a little after that. I had to make a living you know.

I am very sad today. I am going have put my weimarana dog down. He was hit by a car a couple of months ago. It shattered one hip and we had hoped he would be able to go on as 3 legged dog but it is just not going to happen. He is just fading away and yesterday I realized he was losing his sight. This has been a very difficult decision for me. I just can't watch him suffer anymore though. My son wants to be able to come and say goodbye, so Buddy and I will be together one more day. Crying and crying.

I'm soo sorry!

It's so sad to lose a beloved furry family member. We're here if you need anything.

((Hugs)) Lenore! We've had to do that several times, too. And even though you know it's for the best, it still ain't easy!

I'm here if you need to vent some more.....

Yay!! Just a call---my new heating & air unit will be installed Saturday!!!! (course, we're not going to talk about how much it just cost me....)

I know, our AC freezes up if you try to run it below 71 degrees, which in the High heats of Louisiana you sometimes do, Hell don't care about the heater, hardly ever run that, but at night my hubby likes it real cold, so we just bought window units to run at night for the two bedrooms, but since we just got some inheritence money, told him we better get it fixed before the whole thing breaks down.

I'm so behind on movies... I'll have to try and see this.

I highly recommend it. It is definitely the best in the Marvel Universe to be released.

Thank you, all of you. It does help to hear your kind words. He was a family member. I had it done this afternoon. My son said to go ahead. It would be too hard for him to see him the way he was. When I called and told him it was done, he cried. He is 34 yrs old and I haven't known him to cry since he was a child. Buddy just went sleep and then to doggie heaven. It helps to have friends to talk to. This was one of the hardest things to do.

I'm so so sorry to hear about this lenore *hug*

We had a German Shepherd who we got before we had our kids and she was a beautiful dog, beautiful to look at and beautiful in nature and when she was 12 years old, she became very sick and we made the hardest decision to have her put to sleep. My husband and my dad in law (her two most favourite people in the world) were with her at the end but it absolutely broke my heart because she was my first 'baby'. It's been five years now and i still miss her dreadfully. We all do, we never got another dog to replace her. sad.gif

You're in my thoughts smile.gif

I know how you feel, lenore. I'm an animal-person, and it never gets any easier. The hardest thing I've had to do was assist the vet when she put down one of our horses at the stable I used to manage. It was so sad. We're here for you.
