I can't wait until my break to rant! I ranted a couple of months ago about a Fair Hearing one of my client's filed because I reduced his hours. The Fair Hearings Officer and I showed up 5 minutes before the hearing was scheduled to start (should have been earlier and it was my fault we weren't, but we were there before the scheduled time). The Administrative Law Judge had already completed the hearing and the client was leaving! I checked today to see if we had gotten the decision and we did. SURPRISE--we lost! OK, we expected that. BUT the ALJ LIED! He said that "even though not required to, he delayed starting the hearing until 2:30" but that the County representative and the SW witness (me) were not there. He isn't required to delay starting a hearing until the time it is scheduled?! I was too angry and didn't even read the whole thing yet, but it looks like he didn't even discuss the hours or the reduction with the client, because the client doesn't have the burden of proof--the County does (and of course we weren't there!). We have filed for a rehearing, of course. But meanwhile we have to restore the hours. By the time we get another hearing and another decision, it will be time for another yearly review. Since my caseload area has changed, this isn't my client anymore. So his new social worker can do the review.

OK, end rant. Back to work. But first I just have to say about that ALJ: Liar, Liar, pants on fire! There, now I feel better.

What a cool idea for a series! I would be thrilled to watch an interview with a Criminal Intent writer. Also any of the mothership writers who used to write for CI. Thrilling if they interviewed Rene Balcer or Warren Leight as well!

It's fascinating to hear how the writers are motivated, the writing process, and how they come up with their ideas.

Please let us know if you have any success getting Jeff to consider a writer from CI or Law & Order.

D'Oh! And here I hadn't thought of an obviously easy option for a CI writer interview for Jeff's new show. Silly me!

I hadn't thought first of Rene...that interview would be easier for Jeff to do given that they're both out in LA (or at least Rene spends more time out there than the current CI writers do)

The premise of Jeff's show is he interviews the writers where they most like to do their writing and so you not only hear about motivation, process and their ideas, you see the environment they like to work in. It's a very cool concept for a show and pretty simple for Jeff to do.

Still if I have to wrangle the frequent flier miles away from my dad (the former frequent business flyer) or use some of my own to get Jeff to go to NYC to talk to Warren and the rest of the CI writing gang I'll do it (I am not sure what his show budget is like but I'll ask).

Personally, I'd love to hear how Rene Balcer is doing as show runner of the mothership. How he is handling this new venture & how it differs from show running CI. Not to mention, is he tailoring Lupo as a sort of pseudo Goren? Not as quirky, but definitely scruffy, brooding & intense.

Having to get up in front of her peers and out one of her friends, give them the (to them) boring safety lecture that they keep hearing over and over again, and generally appear uncool. My min-pin got into a bag of Kisses one time when we went out. Ate like half the bag. He ate alot of the foils too... He was fine. Didn't throw-up or have any other... digestive troubles. Either he had his sugar rush while we were still gone, or it didn't affect him at all. Being told how horribly poisonous chocolate was for dogs, we had treated the stuff like cyanide... Like the smallest sliver would kill him horribly and instantly. After that, we still kept it away from him, but it wasn't haz-mat level anymore.

Neither does my Mage character, but people still think she is one. (Mages can conjure food and water which restore health and energy faster than just waiting for it come back on it's own. Oh that makes perfect sense! If you tried to direct link it, it's asking for authorization to access the file! You should get a photobucket and save the image there first, then repost it from the 'bucket. That should solve the problem.

I think all you need to know is that the earth is still round (yes, has been for years now). You know what I was doing? I was either making or playing my new villian on City of Heroes/Villians. Akki Kurohana (Demon Blackflower). Seriously, I didn't know about the Earth Hour thing at all...

On another note, I'm down another 1.5 lbs this week. It's not much, but it makes me feel better to see a definite loss two weeks in a row so I know it's not a fluke.

My hubby gave me some money to get some new clothes as an early birthday present and i was happy to realise that i could get into t-shirts a size down than usual. I'm bigger on top than on the bottom. I'm a UK size 14 in jeans (I think the equivalent is a US size 12?) and i go for a size 16 (US size 14) on top but i managed to get a couple of nice tops in a UK size 14 and they didn't strain anywhere. I was happy. I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, i think i own maybe three skirts. I live in jeans, dark pants or combat pants, it's rare that i will wear a skirt.

Congratulations to everyone getting healthier! I need to do something about myself as well. I went down south and brought some summer clothes that I found out...I don't quite fit into. So its time to get myself into shape before the pool opens!
