Yes to the diet Barqs -no to the Blue Plate mayo, at least in my neck of the woods in PA. I LOVE Barqs rootbeer - I actually thought it was a PA soda until I heard it mentioned in a country song.

In this part of Indiana, "soda" is pronounced "pop". smile.gif

I actually prefer A&W rootbeer, to Barq's...that is, when I used to drink soda. Nothing tastes as good, on a hot summer day, as an A&W rootbeer float with vanilla ice cream....::sigh::
(Correction, maybe Vincent's lips might... wink.gif )

I like A&W better too, KimT, cuz it DOESN'T "bite". It tastes smoother. Our Long John Silver's has an A&W restaurant in it too, and their floats rock. tongue.gif

Pour the cold A&W over BlueBell Homemade Vanilla ice cream....yum.....get two straws and have Vincent SHARE it with you.....that way the float is on his lips as well......Hubby and I used to do stuff like that when we were dating and first married, then kids came along....they think doing that is "yucky"! lol

Ok this is a silly question, I always wondered, I have traveled a few places, and have noticed you can't find somethings we have here, everywhere, and when I saw the dr. pepper and doritos question made me think.

1 question. I love diet Barqs, is that available everywhere?
2. the only mayo I like is Blue Plate mayo, is that available everywhere.?

I just wonder since both are created in Louisiana.

We have Diet Barqs in MD, but never heard of Blue Plate mayo.

I work about 50 hours a week on a normal basis - more if we have a 'crisis'. Come May, I'll be working 7 days a week through October. It's great that your hubby has you to help out and relieve his stress - that's wonderful.

I love rootbeer floats - but Vincent's lips would be preferable. tongue.gif

I don't know if I could handle your schedule. I work the normal 40 hour work week but when we do overtime it's 45-50 hour work weeks. I get exhausted doing the overtime. Thank god that is done, for now anyway. Getting taken away from the family is not good.

Yup, here its "pop" too, but my sister says in SC that they call all pop "soda". We have A&W and KFC's here in Michigan, good combo. I love A&W chili cheese fries!

It's just after 10am here in the UK. I've been up since seven am for my kids...getting them up and at 'em for school. My son is collected from the house by an escort and is taken to his school which is in another part of the county and then will be brought back again this afternoon so he's out of the house by 8.20am, though today, they were ten minutes late. My seven year old's school is at the end of the street more or less.

My hubby is working 60+ hours a week at the moment. Most of it is overtime though. He's the guy everyone calls to see if he can cover for them and if he can, then he will. And they are the first to complain when my hubby takes a month off over Christmas to use up all of his day's off. The other night he fixed my battery charger after a chaotic 12 hour shift. He's an electrician by trade with qualifications in electronic engineering. He's also a hands on dad, there's nothing he can't do with them that i can't do with them. He's rare in that compared to guys of his age (he's late thirties like me)

We call soda 'pop' here too. I used to love regular coke but i can't drink it anymore because it's too sweet and i just don't like the aftertaste of the diet brands.

You have a BUSY schedule, ruby! Your hubby sounds like me at work. Always ready to work for anyone and hardly ever taking time off. tongue.gif

Well, if i want a can of Coke, then i'll say, "a can of Coke", same with Pepsi, but collectively, it's known as 'pop'. I don't like Pepsi at all. Do you remember those ads that people had to drink two kinds of cola and identify which was coke or pepsi? (it may have just been a UK ad) but it was on a long time ago. I could always tell the difference, every single time and pepsi is way too sweet for me. I barely drink anything fizzy these days unless i'm out socially, then it's Coke, i'm not a big drinker.

Sometimes our life plods along at an even keel and then all of a sudden life goes crazy and there aren't enough hours in the day. We have a set up that works well, i'm a stay at home mom, he goes to work. It may sound old fashioned but with having a child with autism and another under the age of eight, we've been fortunate enough to do it this way and it works for us. I know that many families can't.

We used to have those commericals too in the US, and it always bugged me that people couldn't tell the difference. I could identify Pepsi from Coke easily, and i would choose Coke in an instant.

Ok. I couldn't sleep last night and my mind kept thinking of random stuff. I decided to share this little gem of knowledge with all of you. (Hopefully you guys won't think I'm completely insane. LOL)

Here goes. (Underage people caution)

A list of Superheroes and their issues. (partial credit for this list goes to my ex and Jeff Dunham)

Aquaman: He can breath underwater and talk to fish, just like SPONGEBOB.

Hulk: Needs strechy clothes and anger management.

Spiderman: Has oxygen deficiency issues (I'd suffocate with a mask like that) and the white sticky stuff is coming out of the wrong place.

Flash: He's on meth.

Superman: He gets weakend by a green rock that doesn't even have to touch him. It's not like the chemicals in the rock ACTUALLY enter his blood stream.

And the most distubing, Batman: Is a pedofile. Think about it: This is a rich man, fully grown, who could do anything in the world he wants, and he chooses to spend his time in spandex, "hanging out" in the "bat cave" with an underage boy in booty shorts. O.o Anyone else see what's wrong here?

Now I have a couple of other people to discuss, but they are not superheroes.

Stewie (from Family Guy): Now, I realized something. Stewie is a mini Hitler. All he needs is the uniform and the mustache. And the F***ed up thing is, we hate Hitler, but love Stewie. (Myself included.) I have to ask myself "What's wrong with us?"

Mary Poppins: (Ok. This one has several parts to it.)

A.) She is an alcoholic. Remember the "Rum punch" flavored medicine.

B.) She's sleeping with Bert. They way they look at each other tells alot. Plus, he is the only one who can push her buttons, (and we all know it's the one's we love that get to us the easiest.)

C.) She's overly competitive. When Bert was trying to amuse the kids with his version of jumping into the drawing, Mary couldn't just let it go. She HAD to prove she could do it.

D.) She's concieted. She has to see all of her face at the same time for some odd reason and she thinks she's "practically perfect."

E.) She's a bitch sometimes. Remember when the kids are recalling what they did in the chalk drawing? She acted like it was all in their heads and then threatened to get a policeman if they didn't go to sleep. WTF???? (That is the one and only time I ever feel like slapping the hell out of Julie Andrews. LOL)

F.) She requires every second Tuesday off. What does she do? Why does she only need on day off out of the whole month? I have a few ideas.

1. She uses that day to sleep with Bert.
2. She uses that day to take a pregnancy test to see if her and Bert are going to be parents.
3. She makes extra money at a strip club.
4. Her period comes arouhd that day and she needs the day off cuz of the cramps.
5. She uses that day to restock on her "magic". (Drugs, you know it has to be.)

(Ok. I hope nobody is offened by any of this. It's just for fun. I really do like Mary Poppins and some of the superheroes and even Stewie.)

Depends on your age, but does anyone remember the old Saturday Night live, with John Bulushi and Dan Ackroid, when they were the russian hamburger guys, Cheeseburgers, and someone would order a coke, and they would say,"no coke Pepsi", loved the old SNL, Just like going to Taco Bell, lol. Of course I drink diet, and prefer Diet Coke, to diet pepsi, but when we eat out, I take what they got, I prefer Diet Siera Mist, but most fast food restaurants and reg restaurants only offer one diet choice, or unsweet tea, which is a big complaint of mine, but when to arby's the other day and they did have diet pepsi and diet Dr. Pepper, But at home, I drink Diet Green Tea, I am hooked on that stuff.

Oh and as far as telling the difference of pepsi and coke, pepsi got kick, and I don't like it, Also reminds me before I drank diet drinks, and this also depends on your age, When coke decided to change its formula, and came out with NEW COKE,(Valley you would have died) which tasted like PEPSI, YUCK! omg I was heart broken no more coke, Thank god it didn't take them long to come to there senses and bring back Coke a cola Classic, I always wondered it that was a marketing thang?

I know what its like to have to wash the dogs beds 4 nights in a row! They were both sicker than dogs...and doing both bad things in bed! Anfd their beds are in our room!

You can buy the same thing at most walmarts...its cheaper.

Hahaha, shave the cat...reminds me of the commercial where the whole house is covered in plastic, the people, the furniture...in order to "live" with the cat! I brush our cat everyday, even though she growls the whole -- time like I am killing her. That why we have doxies, short-haired dogs!

It's obvious that the admin/mod's of this particular board have their hands full, because I see no real moderation going on. This isn't a complaint & I'm not trying to be disrespectful, please believe me. The long time posters of this board do an amazing job of "unofficially" keeping order. However, it takes special abilities to go into another members' thread start & delete posts not your own or merge threads.

Is it presumptious of me to suggest that a few of the long time posters here be given the authority to assist the admin/moderators? It's been done many times on other boards. Those interested (I'm sure its a frustrating, thankless job LOL) would have to volunteer, I guess. It would take a special love & devotion to the board & the folks who post here.

Just a thought. Hope I haven't upset anyone. unsure.gif

I found this article but it is a old piece of news : it dated back 2004. I wonder if it is still a topical question.
