Now for something completely different. wink.gif

FYI, I won't be on the forum from now until the 26th or 27th of Feb, because I'm leaving for a Reading Week mission trip to Edinburgh, Scotland on Friday and coming back on the 24th. Then I have an exam and my three hour class the next day...

Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day, and I hope everyone has a good week. Cloggs, I rarely drink in RL, but I'll try and remember to bring back some virtual Glenlivit for the NOROMO... smile.gif

Now I must go to aformentioned three hour class...

Hay AmandaB,

have fun on your trip, Edinburgh is great fun and there are lots and lots of places to get your Glenlivit and it is a great city to walk around in.. a lot of history.
Any type of drink RL of not is always welcome!!!

Good luck on the exam!!!

Cloggs

PS: if you need a little fruity pick me up after you finish from all this travelling or exam stresses come on by the NoRomo bar and I'll sort you right out with a nice fruity number.. full of vitamins to keep you healthy and keep your energy up.

That happened to me, too. I couldn't get on this board for a long time. I thought it was my computer, but I was able to get on the NBC board. So maybe it was too much traffic? Doesn't seem to be problem on the NBC board these days. rolleyes.gif

Good work, Valley!

I think that one of my neighbors has been using my washer and dryer when I'm not home! My little laundry room is on the back patio. It has a lock, but I never lock it because its inconvenient. But a couple of weeks ago I found my pet carrier (which was on the back patio) sitting next to the fence. My dryer is old and on the regular cycle it is supposed to buzz once and then shut off, but it doesn't shut off. It just keeps tumbling and buzzing forever until you open the door. I always use the permanent press cycle, which has a cool-down cycle where it tumbles with cool air and buzzes every few minutes for about 30 minutes and finally shuts off. Several times over the last few weeks, I've come home from work and the dryer is on the regular cycle and buzzing, buzzing, buzzing. I've been accusing my daughter of leaving it on when she goes to school (she sometimes throws her clothes in the dryer to get the wrinkles out--we call it "dry cleaning" tongue.gif ). It happened again yesterday, but my daughter told me she never uses the regular cycle, she only uses the permanent press cycle. So, is someone hopping the fence and washing their clothes while I'm at work and she's at school? The apartment is empty all day. Actually, now that I think about it, my electric bill went up about $20 the last 2 months. Hmm.....Well, I locked the laundry room door this morning. If that is what was happening, that should take care of it. Living in apartments is SO interesting! laugh.gif

Just think about this.... they could be stealing the odd sock or two and then you would have only single socks left.. or who knows one day you might find someone else's underwear left in there!!!!

Definitely keep that door locked would be my advice.

Hello all,

I have this diary wiht a quote for every day and I came across this one below...

The difference between perseverance and obstinancy is: one often comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't

Living in the South? You are having the same weather as we are in the Midwest. Lovely isn't it?

Ew scarey...Put Goren on the case, he will sniff out the perp by the smell of your laundry detergent, hehe

QUOTE (bobbyisthebest1 @ Feb 13 2008, 11:31 AM) *
Perhaps you could put a little sign on the locked door that gives the varying prices for laundry services and put a coffee can out front. Maybe they'd get the idea that they're basically stealing from you and they've been caught! I have a low opinion of people so I really don't think this would effect their conscience (especially since they're sneaking into your laundry room in the first place), but I'm pretty ornery and I would leave the note and the coffee can! tongue.gif

Great idea! Make them think twice about what they have done!

I am going to change the conversation up a bit...

This kid from Michigan (Maffett I think) is sueing the NCAA for the right to not sit out a year. His coach who recruited him retired and another coach came in with a system that he can't play in. He wants to transfer and not sit out the required year. He says "If coaches can just leave for another job without sitting out a year, why can't players?"

I am not sure how I feel about the situation because you will have these kids jumping ship all the time...but if a coach comes to recruit you and you promise that coach you will come and he leaves ...I don't know...I just think it will open up a can of worms that College programs will not want.... then it brings up the arguement of kids leaving early...I don't know, it just seems like a huge Catch-22.....any opinions...

Thanks for the news about the strike...

My son plays college basketball. He selected his college & the team based 98% on the Coach, who he loved & admired, as we do. If his Coach left, he might want to transfer. I think if the "deal" is broken by the Coach leaving, than the player should be allowed to transfer without losing a year. But it could only be in specific instances, so as not to cause a constant shifting of players.

Hey, I wanted to share about one of my clients that I saw this morning. I went to her home to do her yearly review. She is in her 20s and is developmentally delayed and very childlike. She is deaf and my sign language abilities is limited to "thank you" and "beautiful" (both of which I used today!). I really needed Bobby to interpret for me. tongue.gif When I walked in the living room, she was sitting on the couch and patted the seat next to her, very excited, for me to sit. She hugged me when I sat down, and started pointing to my name tag and my clothes. She kept trying to take my pen and clipboard and her mother told her "NO!" So she went to her room and brought back coloring books and crayons. She plopped a coloring book in my lap, handed me a crayon, and pointed to the picture she wanted me to color. So I colored with her while her mother finished signing the paperwork. Then I got my laptop out to update her assessment and she REALLY wanted to help with that! She was just so sweet, and hugged me when I left. Its not very often that I get to color Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse at work--so color me happy! biggrin.gif

That's so sweet, ciaddict. smile.gif

Daughter gave me a card and a teddy bear, hubby gave me two kissing dogs with the magnetic lips, and a diamond heart on a chain, with a nice card with a love letter written inside. So sweet them two. Son brought me his taxes to do, gotta love him, lol. Got this in my Email today, thought it was funny, about Democrats and Repulicans.

Republican Fisherman

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below.

She shouts to him, “Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.”

The man consults his portable GPS and replies,

“You’re in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.”

She rolls her eyes and says, “You must be a Republican!”

”I am,” replies the man. “How did you know?”

”Well,” answers the balloonist, “everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me.”

The man smiles and responds, “You must be a Democrat.”

”I am,” replies the balloonist. “How did you know?”

”Well,” says the man, “You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault.”

I came to my Mom's this morning to get on the board and hang out with my friends. When I got here my son was here splitting fire wood and my mother and sister were stacking the wood. I joined in for a bit (although the three of them already had a rhthym going and I didn't seem to be much help), until a pin on the splitter broke and brought the work to a halt. It occured to me that today is 30 days that my son has been clean. Its so good to see him hanging out with family (he avoided us for months) and looking so healthy.

As for me, I'm not feeling so healthy today. The chicken strips, cream cheese jalapeno poppers, and Diet Pepsi I picked up on the way over sounded really good at the time, but now not so much. My daughter was sick yesterday, and I think maybe she gave it to me. My headache is finally gone, but my tummy is not feeling too stable right now. Maybe too many Lobster Parfaits and White Chocolate Valentine's at yesterday's party on Twilight Isle?

Thanks, Judy. I saw on the news last night that our local hospitals are flooded with people complaining of flu symptoms. The biggest hospital in the area even put up a tent outside the ER because so many people have been coming in. I knew it was going around, but had no idea it was so bad! And how bad is this flu that people are going to the hospital with it? I guess I need to watch the news a little more often and VDO a little less (SOB! sad.gif ).

I was out and about with rl last night, again tonight AND tomorrow afternoon so I haven't and won't be seeing much VDO or the news myself.

I know a few folks at work have been sick with the stomach bug and I'm really hoping I don't get it. I know for the real little folks and the folks who are frail are really hard hit if they get it.

::flashymom sprays MORE lysol on laptop, cabin door knobs, lightswitches, deck guardrails, doc.Bobby.::....doc.Bobby? Ooops, sorry doc, got a little carried away there with the Lysol. I don't like the sound of this bug that's going around right now. Why don't we hide out in my cabin until it passes?..............You want to give me an alcohol rubdown? For health reasons, you say? wink.gif OK.......Guess I'm going on my break now. The good doctor insists it's for my health......

I just watched Touched By An Angel with my mother. I had forgotten how much I loved this show (I know, I know--its no LOCI. C'mon, don't be a snob! tongue.gif ). I didn't always agree with their theology, but every week the angels told people that God loves them, that He doesn't condemn them for their mistakes, and that He wants more for them than whatever situation they were in. And every week they made me cry. Not so much because of the writing or the acting (although I don't think they were bad at all), but because these are messages that I think the world doesn't hear often enough. OK, taking off my preacher suit and stepping away from the podium now. Back to regular programming!

Not to preach too, but there are many people out there who feel unloved & alone in this world. A show like this teaches and reinforces this truth - that God always loves us and is always there for us, no matter what we have done or how much we have ignored Him. I was taught that God is patient - he will wait until a person is ready to need Him, and He will be there.

It's a beautiful thing. smile.gif
