Is anyone watching the Super Bowl...I usually like the commercials, but this year almost all of them really stink...and to think these sponsers paid so much for a boring/bad commercial...

I AGREE!!! So far, our (mine and hubby's) fave has been the Doritos commercial with the mousetrap.... biggrin.gif
Peyton
Yeah, but the really cool thing is the Giants won!!! I liked the pigeon commercial and Budweiser always does a good job.

Just in Case, I don't get on the Forum tomorrow!

If you are in one of the Super Tuesday Primary States;
Please remember to vote this Tuesday, Feb 05, 2008.

This is the time to express your democratic voice in the selection of your chosen Party's presidential candidate at Federal Level; those who represent you in the US House and Senate and various State, County, City, and Special District Offices. These are the people who decide how to spend your hard-earned tax dollars. This is a rare Presidential Election, where we have no former or current President and/or Vice-President running in either party (and, I don't think any of the candidates are current or former Presidential Cabinet Secretaries either), which means there will be a major change in the Executive Office, no matter which Party/Candidate wins in November.
And, unless something really drastic happens before the Conventions, the Democratic Party is sure nominate an African-American or a Woman as its candidate (making history).

Even if you (like me), are not affiliated with any Party (Declined to State Registration) and have no candidates on your ballot; your ballot probably has a number of State & Local Initiatives, Referendums, and Measures that enough citizens thought worthy of petitioning for a public vote.

Super Tuesday, will almost certainly decide both the Democratic and Republican Presidential nominee chosen at the Conventions later this year; and, one of those people will be elected President (and maybe Vice President) in November. Don't you want your voice heard as to who the next President should (or shouldn't) be?

Please vote! It's important.
(If you aren't registered now, please be sure to Register so you can vote in November!)

Would it be terribly bad if i voted for Fred Thompson even though he is out of the runnings. I don't like anyone else. >_<

The good part is... this will be my first time voting.
Bad Part... i'm voting for someone who is already gone.

Could obama's not saluting the flag have to do with the fact that he's muslim? I think that it is the answer.

Obama is NOT muslim. His father was raised muslim, and not devout at all, but Obama himself was not religious until later on in his life. When he took up religion he joined a christian church.

He's also not black, but multi-racial.

From Wikipedia:

In Chapter 6 of the book (The Audacity of Hope), titled "Faith," Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian stepfather as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." The chapter details how Obama, in his twenties, while working with local churches as a community organizer, came to understand "the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change." Obama writes: "It was because of these newfound understandings—that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved—that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized."[137] He has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over twenty years.

Link to full entry. It's kinda long.

Did Barack not swear in on the whatever thing the muslums use, when he was voted in Senator? My husband knows what it's called, but I can't spell or pronounce it. I think you'll see that in future attack ads by Clinton.

I get so confused by all the "slamming" that goes on, it makes it hard to decide what the canidates actually stand for. Besides, I have voted since I was able and have never voted for the person who ended up winning...but since we own our own small business it does take a different kind of consideration when we do vote. I usually go by the major issues, when I try to decide. Where they stand on certain things...like abortion for instance. I know that is a touchy subject for many and I like kids so its not that...but I do not like people telling me what I should do with MY body...or can do. Life has a lot of turns and twists and unexpected things can happen, so I feel that some things like that need to be options. As for religion, each person has their own beliefs and people put SO much stress on what others believe...I guess its the same, I don't feel anyone else should have the right to tell me how I feel...Voting = stress. lol

Hooray!

In other news, my apartment complex is forcing everyone with a dish to have and maintain $100,000 liability coverage on it.

This announcement comes on the second page of the letter letting everyone know that Comcast has finally upgraded the network in our area, allowing people to get digital cable and cable internet.

Wow... That's pretty transparent now isn't it?

So it may not matter to me if they air new epis or not cause I'll be stuck getting them elsewhere after the fact. My roommate doesn't want to keep the dish if the insurance is too much. *sigh* I don't use it much, but I like TV... Maybe I just need a better media player so I can stream from my computer.

Hey Valley, you and I have a lot more in common on this thread than on the ship thread. I'm a California Republican voting for Romney, too! (But, shh...don't tell my captain. She might make me walk the plank!) Where I live is actually fairly conservative, but we have some liberals--makes it more fun when you have a lot of differences of opinions! My family is mostly conservative, but one of my nieces showed up at my Mom's for dinner last night wearing a pink T-shirt with a picture of Hilary Clinton and it said "Madam President". Well, what can I say--the girl is a size 2. Obviously she is light-headed from not eating enough! laugh.gif

Ugh, day 6 of being sick... I usually only get sick about once a year, but when that happens, I'm dragging myself around for at least two weeks. I've missed way too much class lately... On the plus side, staying at home has allowed me to watch all of spook's season 6 DVD's and work on CI fanfiction. smile.gif VDO and this board can make anyone feel better. wink.gif

As for politics, we're having a election here in Alberta on my birthday (what a nice present). If you think eight years is a long time for a president to rule the country, think of this. The Tory (Conservative) party has been in power (under different leaders) for the last 36 years. That's longer then I've been alive...
Jryan
All in all, I am so glad to be alive in a time, that we will have either someone who is African American or a Woman with a chance to be president. God Bless America. Well this seemed like the most sensible place to put this.

I have had the worse luck the past 24 hours. 1st my daughter's car (ours but she drives it) gets kicked in at school yesterday. The driver's side passenger side door is dented in. Someone, I guess has a grudge against her and did it but they can't prove who it is so we are stuck with the deductible. Then last night part of my sons bedroom ceiling fell in from the lovely strong storms we had last night. More deductible to pay. Then this morning my hubby gets pulled over by a state trooper and gets a warning about his license plate light being out. While the trooper is running his info, he gets out and goes to the back of the vehicle and taps it and it starts working again. Figures. Couldn't get much worse, I guess. Oops shut my mouth. Yes it could.
