I thought you would all appreciate this story, but I keep forgetting to tell it. blink.gif
My nephew is a police officer (with the K-9 unit, Officer Bosco is his partner!). Before Christmas he got called to a home that had those lighted reindeer. It seems someone had "repositioned" the reindeer so that they looked like they were doing naughty things to one another! The homeowner was angry when my nephew told her that the "vandals" really hadn't broken any laws and refused to take fingerprints. I think the fact that he was having a hard time controlling his laughter probably didn't please her much, either! I wish he had taken pictures!

That is a very funny story! Too bad there aren't any pictures of it. LOL It would have made an amusing blurb on a CI episode. smile.gif I can picture Goren leaning over at the reindeer while Eames stood back not trying to laugh too loudly.

Great story! Thanks for the Tuesday funny! smile.gif

I've been flipping through the channels today, (when i haven't been asleep), and I've been noticing that there's many specials about Elvis (and some about LisaMarie, & Priscilla). And then it dawned on me that today would have been Elvis' 73 birthday! I love Elvis.

I find myself so tempted to watch one of his movies. But they're not really good.

In our neighborhood, somepeople had those inflatable penguins on a sled one behind the other, I know I have a dirty mind, but the wind was blowing so hard the way they were rocking up and down it look like they were doing the deed. lol.

Last night had a dream I was watching a movie with VDO, he was a singing Nazi in the movie, all I kept thinking was how well he sang.

Just got the lab results on my daughter today, the Ultrasound showed nodules in her thyroid, really small, also she is hypothyroid like her mom, also insulin resistance, not diabetic, but he wants her on a ADA diet, so thank God, nothing that can't be controlled by diet, exercise and meds.

The storm that hit CA last weekend didn't do much damage around here, not like in northern CA (I really hope Valley's treehouse survived!). It wasn't very cold during the storm, but the last two days it has been really cold and the sun has been so bright. But we are gearing up for another storm in the next few days. Valley, I'll send you some sandbags, OK?

I worked late night tech support. After all the managers went home at 5 and most of the real "day" people were gone by 7, we had a good time. Some of them (no one we hung out with) even had Starcraft or Diablo going... We didn't want to flaunt the rules that badly, but we did have IMs going. The overnighters were real weird bunch, top notch though. They only had themselves to rely on as all the rest of the "supervisors" went home at 1am, so they were REALLY good.

Hi Epic, welcome to the forum.
Jryan, it's good to hear about your daughter. Right now, both me and my mom are trying to eat healthier (her because she wants to naturally manage her ulcerative colitis and me because I really should get down to a healthy weight) so there's definitely some battle lines drawn between the two of us and my dad and sister, who can eat whatever they want. It seems to be mostly peaceful, though I think I might have to put the cookies downstairs (I had a couple yesterday, which was not good). But other then that minor lapse, I'm sticking to this diet (the GI diet) because I've already lost 20 lbs in 9 weeks.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to run an errand before meeting my brother.

This reminds me of a newspaper clipping of a story that my sister sent me once.... apparently in Finland or somewhere else up North there they were having problems with Reindeer.. not that they were wrecking hedges or anything but that they were eating fruit that had fallen off the trees and had started fermenting so there were lots of drunken reindeer running swaggeringly around the village and leaning against doors half drunk. That must have been a sight to see.

Anyone see Dr. Phil yesterday, about the 13yr old girl who hung herself after being cyber bullied? Turned out it wasn't a real boy on myspace she was talking to, it was the mother and her daughter who created this fake person to find out if this 13yr old girl was saying anything about her daughter. Then after this girl started likeing this boy, they had him say, I don't like you anymore your a bad person, then other people on my space started calling her names and she hung herself in her closet. They talked to the mother of the daughter but the people who created this fake boy didn't come on, of course, they are looking to make laws, to be able to prosecute people for doing this. I hope they are able to do something about this in the future. My daughter was bullied in school, thats why I can't stand when people put people down, especially when they aren't around to defend themselves.

AWWW thats sad. I was bullied and picked on which lead me to scuicide attemps, but wow....thats really upsetting. There is so many people in this world who are so incredibly mean to do crap like that...... but this reminds me of of the wirl who hung herself in her closet because she read a fake version of the last Harry Potter book. She hung herself because Harry died in that book and she was OBSESSED with him.

I actually read about that a few months ago. What a sad story. How cruel can someone be to do that to a child? (13 is still considered a child right?)
I don't remember anyone getting blullied in my school.

Whoo hoo!! The Tule fog is back! No one does fog like the good old San Joaquin Valley. My 15 minute drive to work took about 25 minutes this morning. Not too bad. The back road that I take half way was pretty scary, but once I got to the freeway it was much better--I could almost go the speed limit. Although on the freeway I have to deal with idiots who aren't going to let a little fog slow them down!

Tell me about it. These bullies are brought up to be that way by mimicking how their parents behave in the world. A kid who bullies & demeans other kids always has a parent or parents who are the same way.

Even though my kids were always good in sports & pretty popular, we always drummed into them to stick up for the smaller, weaker, different kinds of kids. To never, ever just stand there & let someone be bullied.

I hope these people were punished for what they did to that poor child. sad.gif

That is heartbreaking. Jr High is a hard time for kids anyway even without the bullying. In my experience the bullying is worst and kids can be the meanest at that age. Bad enough but the MOTHER!?!? WTF

Bullying can have long lasting effects especially on kids who are already insecure. I think of some of the mean girls who picked on me at that age (30 years ago) and I still get mad but, they probably don't even remember doing it and are nice people now.

The young sister of one of the girls murdered at Columbine (the one who was killed when she refused to denounce Jesus) has a program where she visits High Schools across the country. Her whole program is about being kind to others, to stop bullying & to reach out to kids who are different. Her sister who was murdered was that kind of girl.

I went to the evening program as a parent; it was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Every student in our school was required to go. I hope it made a difference.

When Greta was pregnant with Matteo, now almost six, she was shocked to find herself the subject of lurid headlines. The baby's father is Carlo Mantegazza, her first cousin, his mother and her father being siblings.
'He's been my best friend for 20 years and only because he is my cousin did it take so long to realise he was the perfect companion for me. I was really worried when the story hit the papers because I was well into my pregnancy. I was quite shaken and very troubled that they though it was such a lovely, scandalous story. I felt mortified. We were living in a village and I didn't need to have people's prejudices stirred up about a child who would be growing up there.'

okay now this is waaaaaaay off topic. But kind of sort of related to vincent. I don't know where to put it, so I'll put it here.
In this link (below), it says that his first wife (?) His daughter's mother, Gretchen Scacchi, is/was dating her cousin (her father's sister's son), and they have a child together. huh.gif blink.gif
Now, granted, I don't know how true this is.

Well, being a redneck, cajun, coonazz, people down here marry their cousins, Not first cousins, like she did, I find that creepy. But I have heard of 3rd and 4th cousins marrying.

Still she doesn't say anything about being married to Vincent. So wonder if they were ever actually married. So maybe Carin is his first wife.

That's not too clear to me. Sometimes I see her referred to as his ex-wife, sometimes as the mother of his daughter. Sometimes it will say their marriage ended, sometimes their relationship. I have a feeling they were never married. Its kind of like his divorce from Carin. I will read that they were divorced, then that they reconciled. So I'm not sure if the divorce was final and now they are living together, or did they stop the divorce before it was final, or did they remarry? Mysteries!
