DetNat was banned. I guess Parcher figured out he wasn't wanted. Or since DetNat wasn't around to play with he wandered off.

In other news:

Computer storage is limitless. The future is now. 1TB drives. That's right, 1 TERABYTE hard drives are available, at a pretty reasonable price too.

For the non-technical - 1TB = 1000GB. I have 3 300GB drives right now. For about $280 I can more than DOUBLE my current capacity and only take up ONE rack and ONE connection. For about $300 I can have it as an external hookup through a USB port.

I guess it's like the CD drives breaking 8X back in the day. Once you hit that certain mark, it's easy to increase speed or capacity. When I was working in a computer store in 95 it was accepted as fact that CD drives were going to take many years to get past 8X speed, if ever. It was done within 2 years, and speeds jumped up to 32X in a few months. With HD we figured that if they broke 300GB it would be a slow climb to higher capacities... A year after seeing my first 500GB HD there are now affordable, nay if you go by the old method of price per Gig, extremly cheap 1TB drives.

Squee!

Ahhh. I remember the days when 1 GB was a breakthrough. The HD that I have on my Media PC is 500GB and it was somewhere around $100.

Totally OT (but I'm on the right thread for it...)

I burned and am watching Season 3 of (SVU), and I just popped in the first ep. Steven Z. (I assume) does the intro, but instead of the usual one, he says...

"On September 11, 2001, New York City was ruthlessly & criminally attacked. While no tribute can ever heal the pain of that day, the producers of Law & Order dedicate this season to the victims and their families. And to the firefighters and police officers who remind us with their lives and courage what it truly means to be an American."

Snuffle...

I'd never heard that before.

Happy New Year to all my East Coast friends!
I think I have finally caught up with most of the threads (take 3 days away from the board and it takes FOREVER to catch up). So I am heading home to ring in the new year with my kitty, Socks (and her $400 tail!).

Happy New Year to all my LOCI buddies! See you next year! (When I was a kid, I thought my dad was the funniest guy alive when he would say that.)

Hey winter has hit south louisiana, we got down to 30 degrees last night, actually had to run the heater, can you believe it, lol. right now we are at 35 degrees. Suppose to get down to 25 tonight,
But by monday we will be back to Highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s. Keep warm everyone. Captain might have to borrow Bobby the next few nights till this cold streak is over, Cajuns can't handle cold well.lol.

The weather isn't that bad here. I'm looking forward to doing some reading before I have to go back to school, among other things.

Those pictures of pets were so cute. I loved spending time with my cousin's poodle over the holidays. I missed my aunt and uncle who were in Hawaii, but I'm sure that it was much warmer then Edmonton.

I'm not sure how close you are to New Orleans, Jryan, but beware of crazy Ohioans wearing scarlett and gray. They are descending on NOLA for the BCS championship game on Monday.

Ohio State football is like a religion here. The streets in Columbus will be virtually empty during the game. I worked late last year and drove home in the middle of the game. It was like a Twilight Zone episode, where there were just a few of us left on earth.

Yes I saw it when it was out in theatres. Hubby and I took the kids to see it. We all loved it. It was so good we had to go see it again in the theatre and then buy the movie when it came out on DVD. We watch it over and over. I think I have seen it a couple dozen times so far.

I'm confused!

I just wrote a piece about the lousy weather in Sacramento and spent a long time composing it.

When I pressed the post button; it gave me a message that I didn't have permission to post in this topic. Since when does someone need permission to post on an "Off Topic" thread?

The system posted a blank post and I lost all the context of my post.

Can anyone explain this to me.

I'm very glad that Want is on tomorrow, because I'm starting to suffer from serious CI withdrawal after not watching it for a month. Granted, December was very busy with work and school, but now that I have more time, I'm going to try to watch it whenever I can, even if they are reruns. How is everyone else holding up with no new episodes in sight?

Since Thanksgiving, I've been concentrating on taping a couple of Seasons in episode order. That's more of a job then you would think, because the airings are not usually sequential; and, for each Season, there is one or two episodes that are almost always "left out" of the airing sequence.

I now have Seasons 1, 2, 3 on DVD; all of Season 6 and 7 (albeit some eppys are the edited versions) on tape; and, all but a few episodes of Seasons 4 and 5 on tape. Soon I won't have to depend on the Networks (NBC, USA, and/or Bravo) rerun schedules; I'll be able to view any episode I desire at whatever time is convenient for me. Then, when we get new eppys, I'll just tape them the first time aired, if possible. Homemade tapes will do until the strike is over and cleaner, more complete versions are available on DVDs.

I do think, however, that it is unwise of both sides to drag this strike out much longer! Not everyone is a devoted fan, like those on this board. Others won't settle for watching old episodes of their favorite series rerun over and over; and, even the obsessed will eventually over-dose on reruns. The longer the strike goes on, the more audience will be permanently lost and the more damage to the TV/Movie industry. And, writers, actors, and other crew members can't go without work indefinitely; eventually, many series will be lost permanently simply because those involved with it have been forced to obtain other more steady forms of employment and are no longer available.

I have also become obsessed with getting seasons 4-6 taped in order (I have them on a bunch of tapes, but all mixed up). I have turned to Bravos marathons for this. They show 4 episodes every Sunday (twice), pretty much in order. I now have all of season 4 on 3 tapes. I am working on season 5, BUT they did not show In The Wee Small Hours! And don't seem to have any intention of showing it. Drives me crazy! I got season 6 when USA did the marathons those 2 weekends last October, but they aren't in order. So I'm waiting for Bravo to get to season 6.
LOCIFan87
Bravo will be airing season 6 starting next week according to my TiVo recorder. I am very disappointed that they didn't show In the Wee Small Hours episode. They also have dropped some a handful of other shows from the last part of season 5 on Bravo. sad.gif I am really bummed 'cos I was recording these on to my computer to transfer to DVD. Bravo was really good on airing the episodes in order from other seasons - so I don't know why they have done this.

Man! This has been one of craziest days I've had in a while. In addition to it being the first day of the semester, having to wade through three feet of snow and ice to class, and trying to remember when I work I found out today that I have a new roommate. Now, you may be thinking "that's not a huge deal". Well, it's not really a big deal for me to have a new roomie but my landlord gave me zero notice and I am not one of the tidiest people in the world. (Not as bad as some of the people on Clean House, though)

The only upside is that she likes L&O! I was hurriedly moving things out of my former room and she saw I had seasons 1 and 2 of mothership on DVD and got really excited. At least I can bug my other roommate a little less.

Just needed to vent. That's for listening.

I live in NY, and I was shocked and amazed when I walked out my house to go to the post office. It was hot. I had on a 'bubble' jacket, a sweater and a shirt, and by the time I made it to the post office (a 2 minute drive), I was sweating.

I live in NY, and I was shocked and amazed when I walked out my house to go to the post office. It was hot. I had on a 'bubble' jacket, a sweater and a shirt, and by the time I made it to the post office (a 2 minute drive), I was sweating.
not that I'm complaining or anything.

I'm in UT. I'm suprised it's hot in NY. I could go a little warmer just so I don't freeze my ears off. It snowed some more last night too as I was walking home from work, which is fifeteen minutes from my house. Brr!

The only snow that survived our 60+ degree temps the last 2 days were the bigger piles in parking lots.

I'd rather have snow than tornadoes. mellow.gif

I thought you would all appreciate this story, but I keep forgetting to tell it. blink.gif
My nephew is a police officer (with the K-9 unit, Officer Bosco is his partner!). Before Christmas he got called to a home that had those lighted reindeer. It seems someone had "repositioned" the reindeer so that they looked like they were doing naughty things to one another! The homeowner was angry when my nephew told her that the "vandals" really hadn't broken any laws and refused to take fingerprints. I think the fact that he was having a hard time controlling his laughter probably didn't please her much, either! I wish he had taken pictures!
