My daughter-in-law told me that my son needs new dress shoes for work, so I got him a pair for Christmas. I found a pair of black leather slipons that look a lot like the ones Bobby wears on CI. I mean, these are cheap knockoffs, but they look like the real thing to me! He wears an 11 1/2, but I did go check out the size 13 while I was there! So, is it creepy that I bought my son a pair of shoes just because they look like Bobby's?

BTW, my son is 6'4" and my daughter-in-law is 5'2". My daughter told me not to tell that to anyone on the board because it would only encourage the Bobby/Alex shippers. But I know that Judy will keep an eye on Valley!

lol, now did you try on the size 13?

Oh man, I didn't even think of that! No, I just held them lovingly--and then quickly put them away when someone came around the corner. Wouldn't want to get arrested just before Christmas for fondling shoes! What would my children think?!

Happy Holidays and safe travelling for everyone that is lucky enough to be going away.

My family is all sick, me with bacterial pneumonia, my husband with a sinus infection, my son with strep, and now my 2 daughters with bad colds. We have quaranteened ourselves. I hope everyone goes to bed early, so I can watch my Bravo CI evening in peace.

I bought a gingerbread house to make as a family project. I give it 10 minutes before everyone is fighting.

Hope you are all on the mend soon. Bad enough having the whole family sick at the same time, never mind during the Holidays. Wishing you and everyone else here a Happy Healthy New Year!

As I joke, I told my oldest daughter that for Christmas I want a VDO calendar with pictures of me photo-shopped in. I am almost afraid to show her the one of Goren and your dog. She is disgusted with herself for the amount of time she is spending working on it.

HB -- hull did that at my request. I told her I thought Bobby would look really cute under the mistletoe with her doggie, and *wa-lah* there it was! Thanks, hull! They look so sweet together!

Sorry to hear everyone in your family is sick. I remember holidays like that growing up, and when Mom was sick, we all suffered.......

I'm so happy! I now have an avatar and a signature. I've hated how boring my posts look compared to all you creative people. My daughter did it for me--even after watching Janx's videos, it was beyond my puny capabilities. The avatar was SO easy--I think my daughter did it in three clicks of the mouse. And I LOVE the picture of VDO and CN in my signature. Two HOT guys sharing a laugh.

I hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas. Santa Claus puts in an appearance at my mother's every Christmas Eve. This year we were woefully short of little ones--only my 9 month old grandson (who desperately wanted to pull Santa's beard off!) and my daughter's 5 y/o niece--and then 3 teenagers. My 15 y/o daughter sat on Santa's lap and asked for world peace. I've been checking the news all day to see if she got her wish!

I'm so glad you got connected at home - no more trips to your mom's just to check-in! I would love to have wireless at my house - I live so far out in the middle of nowhere the best I can manage is very slow dial-up. We're waiting patiently for Verizon to finish with the high-speed access in our area but it's taking forever.

Santa was extremely good to me - I got Full Metal Jacket on DVD, two Robert E. Howard books (VDO plays the author in THe Whole Wide World) and the book that TWWW was based on "One Who Walked Alone". It's nice to know "santa" listens sometimes when I talk. tongue.gif

Hope to see you around more often now that you got your wireless!

Happy New Year!

Thanks - I was very pleased! 'One Who Walked Alone' is, so far, an extremely interesting read. Having watched the movie first, I 'see' VDO and Renee Zelleweiger in the roles of Bob and Novalyne, which is nice to have people to go with the characters.

Watched FMJ with my son this morning - another great VDO performance. You can just see 'Pyle's' transformation and know that something bad is going to happen. The man is so talented.

I was sooooo mad at Joker for going along with Pyle's sock/soap beating - and the fact that he knew Pyle should be Section 8 when he started talking to his rifle and did nothing ot help him! But that FACE - that PYLE evil face in the head - ooooh, chills. VDO is such a master of altering his appearance and that just proves it.

I am SO, SO, SO happy today! They have finally hired more social workers and nurses and have redistributed the caseloads. I just transferred 96 of mine to another nurse (and got about 45 from another one). It brings my caseload down to about 150 clients. At one point I had over 220. 150 ROCKS! And instead of covering the entire south end of the county, I now have only the south-west corner. I know none of you know what I am blabbering on about--but I am so HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY! It will definately be a Happy New Year for me!

Thanks, Hullbound. I know I didn't make much sense. I work for a Medi-Cal (or Medicaid) program that pays caregivers to help our clients with whatever they can't do on their own--cooking, cleaning, personal care, etc. the social worker or nurse determines how many hours per month we will pay the caregiver. I am only required to go to each client's home once a year for a review. But frequently their condition and what they need help with changes before the yearly review is due and I have to go earlier. And of course each worker gets an average of about 10 new applications each month. And then there are the constant phone calls. Every time I see that Carver Cat saying "Moar Evidence", I think of our clients and providers wanting "Moar Hours"! So going from 220 clients to 150 will make a HUGE difference. At one point I was about 5 months behind on my reviews. I only have a few late ones now, and with this reduction in clients I expect to be able to stay on top of the reviews. Happy, happy, happy!

And also thanks about the picture. I fell in love with it when my daughter found it. Sometimes I go to one of my own posts just so I can see Mikey and Bobby sharing a laugh!

OK, I'm just jumping in here to show you guys my new puppy. I went to get a "yorkie-poo". I was thinking: tan and black, little teenie, etc...

Here's what I got (Janx already has "met" her :-): I think she's a peek-a-poo: (I love her!)

She's already met my kitty and my main #1 dogg, Sammie. Here they are together:

They all get along fine but now Sammie won't come and sit with us, and Pokey (the new kid) stays next to me like glue. tongue.gif

This is my shaggy is 4, part, chihuahua part yorkie He was raised with Tiger, who you see below, so he grooms himself like a cat. But is very jealous so he chases Tiger away all the time.

They are SO cute! I LOVE the #5 on your cat!

And "Shaggy" LOOKS like what I thought I might be getting only maybe poddle-furrier. smile.gif

I think a peek-a-poo is pekingese+poodle, but I think Hokey Pokey is too big for the breed combo too. I think she's a mutt. ;-) I don't care, I wuv her.

I knew I was getting a female, so as I drove, I was thinking of names... Bobbie (like Goren only a girl :-). But I used to work with someone by that name and we didn't get along...

I had finally decided on Alex (for Eames, d'uh :-). But this pup already had a name, Pokey. Her mom's name was Mokey.

Hey, for $300 they had some that actually LOOKED like yorkies, but I have to put gas in my car and all. tongue.gif

My peek-a-poo was more peek than poo, I think. His fur was straighter - we used to call him a dustmop, while Pokey looks more curly to me. But you went for the curls because of a certain man who has beautiful curly salt & pepper hair, me thinks. rolleyes.gif

I am a firm believer that an animal will love you no matter what regardless of $$ and I have never spent more than $50 - $100 for my puppies. No one should put that kind of price tag ($300) on pure love - and that's what animals are. I happen to like Pokey's shagginess - it's unique, but maybe a little trim wouldn't hurt. smile.gif

Hokey Pokey? It was meant to be. One of my favorite T-shirt sayings I've ever seen is "What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?" - You were meant to be together.

Dogs know who belong to them. When I picked out my border collie, I brought home his brother to give my sister for her birthday, but the one that I kept leapt into my arms and licked my face all over to stake his claim - I knew he was mine (or I was his) from the get to. At 14, his eyesight is going but othewise he's healthy and he never leaves my side when I'm home. He's the one constant that I know is always here for me and he loves me no matter what I look like or what I make for dinner.

The owners said she didn't have a name and she's six months old. sad.gif

I asked how they could have a dogg for six months and NOT have her have a name? The one guy said he called her Pokey cuz her mom's name was Mokey. And then on the ride home it became Hokey Pokey. smile.gif

And BTW, for those who know I'm a former X-Phile, her name is NOT an homage to that crappy XF ep that Steven King co-wrote (Chinga). wink.gif

Pokey was standing on her hind legs against my leg, licking my hand while we were talking. She is such a sweetie.

Sammie is being good with her (no growling or snapping), but I want her (Sam) to know she's still the Top Dogg. She won't come near me when Pokey is here lying under my chair.

Sammi is beautiful and your new baby is adorable! Pokey looks like an unraveling ball of yarn or something LOL too cute.

I couldn't afford to pay $300 for a dog and don't know if I would if I could. Can you believe my husband found our beautiful little shih tzu boy on Craig's List?

Shih Tzu -0 dollars
Shih Tzu cuddles-priceless

( His family was moving back home to another state and couldn't have him in their new place. Sad day for them-happy day for us.)

I looked on Craigslist and Kijiji for a dog for a long time, but didn't find that special dogg there. I LOVE Shih Tzu's, they are so cute!

Pokey is an unravelling ball of something... wink.gif

She's never had a collar or leash on before, so it should be interesting to teach a 6-month old puppy how to go for a walk. tongue.gif

Breaking News: NY Times: Letterman Makes Deal With Striking Writers

Letterman has made a deal with the WGA and will be coming back on January 2nd *WITH* his writers!

Worldwide Pants just checkmated the AMPTP...Dave played this beautifully although I will miss the blog http://lateshowwritersonstrike.com

source: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/28/business/media/28cnd-strike.html?hp

"David Letterman has secured a deal with the striking Writers Guild of America that will allow him to resume his late-night show on CBS next Wednesday with his team of writers on board, executives of several late-night shows said today.

Most of television’s late-night shows are scheduled to return to the air that night after being off for two months due to the strike, but it is likely that only Mr. Letterman, and the show that follows him on CBS hosted by Craig Ferguson, will be supported by material from writers.

The reason is that Mr. Letterman’s company World Wide Pants, owns both those shows. The company announced two weeks ago that it was seeking a separate deal with the guild that would permit the two World Wide Pants show to return to the air. The talks seemed to be at an impasse until today when the deal was completed.

A spokesman for Mr. Letterman’s company declined to comment.

Beyond the obvious advantage of having writers to supply comedy material that other shows will not have, Mr. Letterman’s and Mr. Ferguson’s shows will likely gain a benefit by being able to book guests who will not appear on shows still being struck by the Writers Guild.

Representatives of some of the other late-night shows have reported difficulty booking some the top-name actors in Hollywood, who have indicated reluctance to appear on shows whose networks are still among the entities the writers are striking against.

Numerous big-budget movies have opened during the holiday season without having opportunities for their stars to promote them on the late-night shows as they normally would. The World Wide Pants shows may now be able to book many of those stars, some of whom may still resist appearing on the other shows, like NBC’s “Tonight” with Jay Leno and “Late Night” with Conan O’Brien, and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

All three of those shows are scheduled to return Wednesday without writers."

The Vault (please let the other scripted shows get deals soon!)

I just love the arrogance of the Networks/Corporations.

At the end of Season 6, NBC was ready to cancel LOCI.
It said LOCI's ratings were too low; so after much cajoling, it finally "gave" LOCI to USA.

USA took it, promoted it vigorously (which NBC hadn't) and Season 7's episodes became the near-highest (or highest) rated shows on cable and were challenging the broadcast networks best rated programs. And no LOCI episodes were being shown in prime time on NBC from the start of Season 7 in October through December.

Then came the Writers Strike and the end of new scripted episodes for all series.

Now, NBC decides the program it was so willing to give up last summer is worthy of a
Primetime place on its schedule.

They are still unwilling to pay the writers (and others that create the programs) a fair share
for a program that they were unwilling to promote and ready to cancel. Now they want to cash In
on the product of Cable's promotion and the high ratings that came with it.

Has anyone asked these questions? (I'm not legally-inclined, but I think LOCI's, and maybe, USAs people may have sufficient grounds for a lawsuit, (maybe an injunction) questioning NBC's rights to air, reproduce, or profit from the distribution of Season 7 episodes.)

Why should NBC have the right to air or profit from LOCI Season 7 episodes, when if LOCI had not been picked up by USA, there would be no Season 7 Episodes, to air or promote for profit?

Why should NBC profit from the creative efforts of LOCI writers, actors, and production crews when they were unwilling to finance those efforts?

Why should NBC be allowed to profit from the promotional efforts of USA (and Bravo) and the ratings generated, when they were unwilling to promote or pay for the promotion of LOCI-Season 7?

And, isn't it "false and mis-leading advertising" for NBC to promote Season 7 episodes as "New" episodes, when those same episodes have been run and re-run several times on USA?

I think The Writers Guild (and the Directors, Actors, and others involved in LOCI and other TV series) should be questioning the ethics and legality of such practices. Not only should we have the
right to fair payment for our work/production; but, others should not be paid for what they didn't create, promote, or invest in producing.
