OH HELL YES. laugh.gif

I love how the kitchen appliances have already been discussed just based on the preview.

Between work and paramedic school, it's a little busy here. But there is always time for prop analysis. Kind of like how there's always room for dessert.

I can't remember exactly but if no one else knows, I will check my copy the next time I go home. I just don't have it in front of me.

Oh, um I totally forgot to say what I originally got on here to say. I'm probably not going to be around till the weekend because I'm moving this week and I have to turn my cable box and modem in today (sad) so I won't have internet at home for a few days. So if you guys don't see me, I'm not MIA...and I should be back in cyberland in a few days.

Oh and BTW I really hate moving. Stupid roommate has to get married.... blink.gif

It was a a wallpaper, but in PAINT I fixed into an icon then into the whole banner. I will NEVER do that again... PAINT is so gimpy that it made my head hurt and took 4 times as long as it would have taken me in Photoshop, and doesn't look as good. Stupid pixely artifacts from compression of the image... I really wish I could get my desktop working properly again.

However if you want the wallpaper I threw it in my Photobucket. Enjoy.

Can anyone recomend a good Icon making program? One that you can make the ones that change with different pics. Like I don't spend enough time on the computer as it is. But being home with my daughter I have a lot of free time.

fanfiction.net has a lot of stories under the TV shows category, but some of them are better written then others. I'm reading one called Saving Graces on there right now, which is a Bobby/Olivia romance and very good.

This is just a quick post to say that I'm all right. I'm still at the old job because I'm not getting a lot of hours right now, but come December, that will change, and I can go back to having one job again. Oh, and if I don't post for the next couple of weeks, that's probably because I will be busy with school. I'm either doing nothing or I have three or four things in a week and a half.

For making regular icons, any image editing software will work. I'm a Photoshop addict, but there are other programs available. Corel Draw comes to mind off the top of my head.

For the changing ones, that's a .gif file. You'll need a program that can compile .gifs into an animated file. There are some free ones available online, but I don't know how good they are as I've never used them.

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your work.

Fanfiction.net can have some of the most amazing stories you've ever read and some of the worst trash you can imagine. Sadly there's no way to separate them except by reading...
Self-insertion stories, Mary-Sues, and horrible slash-fics & lemons will assault your eyes, though slash writers are usually kind enough to warn you. While L&O might be spared from as much slash as anime, I assure you it's there.

PS. For those not familiar with the lingo "lemon" means sexual content.

There is some good reading and some crappy content at fanfiction.net, you're so right. I usually find a few authors I like and "favorite" them, so I know I'll probably at least be able to make sense of the stories. (Typos, grammatical (sp? smile.gif errors and horribly-out-of-character characters really bug me).

InfinityStar and blucougar57 write good, solid G/E fic, as a rule. I have a couple stories there myself, under spookycc. I specialize in G/E hurt/comfort, but am not a "shipper", just a "friendshipper". ;-)) Sorry if we're not supposed to rec our own work. ;-P

Reading them is the only way to find the good ones. What amazes me is the variety! I thought I had an imagination. laugh.gif

Like you, I "favorite" the authors who are consistent with good writing. Though I have stumbled on some writers that may have had 'stinky' earlier stories, and write a gem of a one later on. I make sure I submit them a review to let them know whether or not I like it. smile.gif

I, myself, have written a few, and the reviews have allowed me to re-evaluate how/where the story is going and what might or might not be pleasing the readers. Some can be pretty caustic, those are the hard ones to get passed (especially if it is a B/A). I've even adjusted some chapters towards the suggestions.

Never thought of myself as a writer (and many probably think that way about my writing laugh.gif ), but I do it out of sheer joy and to see 'if it works'. Working with numbers all day, it's kind of nice to 'work with characters/people'. It keeps me off the streets and kind of out of trouble. tongue.gif

That's worth a roflcopter. It CAN be, but most times it's clunky, obvious, and painful. Self inserts are also often Mary-Sues as well.

QUOTE (bugtussle47 @ Sep 28 2007, 01:00 AM) *

*bug*

A Mary-Sue is generally a perfect character, male or female. No real flaws, all the main characters instantly make them their best friend, and they are better than the main characters in almost every way. No problem too big, no emotional barrier too wide for the Mary-Sue to easily triumph over. In cases of romance, the Mary-Sue will get their partner of choice no matter what the canon storyline says, or even what's believable for the character.

The other version of a Mary-Sue is an overly cliche character. Playing into the cheesiest of cheese.

Heard of Peggy Sue. I stopped reading fan fiction, too many writers are shippers. I like a little romance, but seems to many on the romance is between Eames and Goren, I just don't see it. I see them more as a brother-sister relationship. Was reading a great story once and it went THERE, and it was like ewwwww, ruined the whole story to me.

Also watched some of CI's competion last night, didn't catch ER decided I would give up on that show. So Watched Big Shots, and Taped Without a Trace, will have to decide which one I will chose out of the two. Since I can only tape two programs at once. And CI will be one of them. Big Shots, shows some promise. Without a Trace I don't know seems same stuff didn't victim. Was really disappointed with CSI last night, so guess Sarah signed her new contract, lol, thats all I thought when she opened her eyes at the end.

This is kind of OT, even for the OT thread... But i didn't need it's own thread, and it didn't fit on any other one so...

I'm just curious, how long has everyone been watching CI? Like on a mostly regular basis? It dosen't have to be the new seasons, just as a regular viewer.

I'd say i became a regular viewer about 2 weeks before the season six opener. So just over a year now.

How about the rest of you?
