Great topic! (I'm a book lover)
I have read Hawaii and Blue Flu and liked them both very much.
The thing I like the most about these books is how they accompany the show. We get to see Monk through the eyes of the person who gets him through his day. At first, I felt like the written portrayal of Monk was not dead on—very, very close, but not perfect. Somehow I felt he was more considerate and aware of Natalie then he is on the show. But then I realized that the book portrayal of Monk is the Monk that Natalie sees—a friend—therefore a little different, a little more of a complete character.

MR. MONK IN OUTER SPACE
Coming October 30th in hardcover!
When Adrian Monk investigates the murder of Conrad Stipe, the legendary creator of the cult hit TV series BEYOND EARTH, he finally meets people who are even more obsessive-compulsive than he is—science fiction fans. One of the fans could be the killer who, wearing an elephant nose and dressed in a starship uniform, gunned Stipe down. To find the murderer, Monk enters the bizarre culture of science fiction fandom with the help of the world's leading expert on the show... his agoraphobic brother Ambrose.

*Eyebrows raise* Oh-ho? ... This book already made it on my to-read list for several reasons (yay sci-fi!)... but now there's no question at all... *grin*

Sounds a bit like "Galaxy Quest" meets "Shawn vs. the Red Phantom" (Psych episode) ...

Well... I've read
Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse and
Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii so far. I have also
Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu in English language, but I haven't read it yet unfortunetely. I planned to read it in last vacation, but you know... I didn't. In this school year I have about 20 obligatory readings... I am so scared about that fact. But I don't hide it, I want to order Mr. Monk and the Two Assistants. Of course I am also waiting for
Mr. Monk in Outer Space. I have school of course, but I should find time for Monk

for my favourite character.

Hello, peeps.
I've read all the books. Loved Blue Flu and Goes to Hawaii. I always enjoy when The Monk comes out to play. Medication is a funny thing.
SO! Sci Fi conventions. I've been to a couple, mostly because I have a friend who is an illustrator/author. All kinds come to cons. Cons are a big draw for the weird (uh…). I've also met some great artists and wonderful authors. Not to mention the interesting and fun parties. Star Trek conventions, well that's another planet. Literally not figuratively. There are more prosthetic foreheads there than you'll ever see on a normal day. Monk at a con? Whoa. I can't wait.
Time to take my meds. See ya!
