I have to say this. Me being married, it broke my heart to see Elliot Stabler sign the Divorce Papers. Thats something that would be the hardest to do for anyone who is married. Stabler has been through so much, I wish there was a way to save his marriage but that looks like its too late. He had alot going for him for a while, a Wife, Kids, and his Job. Being a devoted husband, I can only dream as to how hard that would be for me to only have my job left. Anyone here agree with me?

Watching Burned and seeing him go up to the house and put the divorce papers in the box was sad to watch. You can tell he was having second thoughts about it but believed he was doing the right thing by trying to let Kathy go and thinking that's what she wanted; Elliot also witnessed the case of two people going through a divorce who resent each other and that freaked him out as he told Olivia that he never wanted Kathy to regret him. That statement tells me that he does still love Kathy no matter what.
Anyway, now, Elliot requested to come home and the new season will have him back home with Kathy so hopefully this second chance will be better for them both who can realize their mistakes and make it work!

The girls Elliot needs to be there are his daughters. The woman he needs to be with is his wife, the only woman he has ever loved and the only woman he loves now.

Well Dickie never really came out and said "Call me Richard from now on" but in Pretend, Elizabeth called Dickie Richard...so...there you go...and besides, he's 13/14 years old- being called Dickie at that age is pretty...well I'll let you fill that end part up lol

Well it will be a strange thing to see Elliot kissing his maid on the lips, being in bed together, saying I love you, etc...

Since Neil Baer has already told us that Elliot is going home to learn to be a husband again, the whole "his maid carrying his child" will be a stretch.

But its better for the Kids when Dad is at home. Its also better for a wife. The Family was the whole world to Stabler. Olivia was a good partner and a good friend but thats all. Its nice to have a friend to rely on but when you have a family, they come first. He does make a good dad and a husband and he reminds me of my own Dad. Tough Love and disclipline but all for a food reason.

Well, hopefully Elliot will be home a bit more this time around. That was his problem before. All work and no home life. Stabler seemed as though he valued his work life more then he did spending time with his kids and wife. We all knew he loved them but actually being with them was a problem. Even Kathy in season two said, "You're never home and when you do get home the kids are already in bed." I am not sure if that is an exact quote but close enough. LOL! I just hope that the show really allows the audiance to see that Elliot's heart is at home. Because man...I saw his face in the season finaly and he did not look like he was happy about going home. At least it looked that way to me. I know I will get mamed by non-shippers but that's what I saw. At least he didn't look like he was ready to make that decision.

As Neal Baer said soon after the finale aired, he mentioned that Elliot will be relearning how to be a husband and father again so I'm hoping that both Elliot and Kathy will learn from their mistakes and do better in the second round of their marriage.

That was said in season 3 in an episode called Popular. Elliot wasn't aware that Kathleen was failing in some classes but Kathy assured Elliot that they were working on it and she's making progress.

Well I do think he was shocked to find out that Kathy was pregnant- he didn't expect it at all and from the look on Kathy's face, neither did she. But from Elliot asked "What's changed?" after he said "Look Kathy, I'm sorry..." before she interrupted him it sounded like Kathy also wasn't ready for Elliot to come home. I don't know if they were having second thoughts or to reconcile slowly so that they can trust each other again before sharing a house and bed together.
I suppose we will see how Elliot is doing at home in season 9 when the premiere starts on Tuesday and will have a better understanding of the state of their marriage.
I do think Elliot should be at home- I like the dynamic balance of the detectives of having a married man, a single woman, a divorced father, and a mulitiple married man as well as a widower...gosh knows what Chester Lake is but so far I already have him in mind as a single man.
Mary, I hope this non-shipper didn't mamed you as much

Unfortunately, the idea of somebody imaging a wife as a maid who carries the husband's children isn't a funny one. There are too many women whose husbands treat them that way. And too many of them accept it because they don't believe they are entitled to more.

Most married folks that I have discussed this with feel the same way. As a married woman

I totally understand Kathy's frustration with Elliot, and I also saw his signing of the divorce papers as a "love her enough to let her go" gesture. Even in a TV show, it is sad to see families broken apart.

It wasn't just you that saw his face. To me it looked like he "screwed" himself over by having sex with Kathy, because I don't think he wanted another child. I am NOT saying that he won't love this child just like every other one of his children. All I am saying is that when Kathy told him that he was going to have another child, he was schocked, and it looked like he didn't want to come home. I know people are going to say "well that's where he belongs. He's a devout Catholic and he just divorced because he was pressured. He loves his family" blah blah blah. We've heard the speech, and the shippers and non-shippers will never agree. That's ok with me. The cycle will happen again. Elliot will be stuck at his job, and won't be home. Kathy will get angry that he's not home, especially with the baby. Then she will realize she doesn't need him(because she's the one that hurt him by wanting a divorce) and the same thing will happen. That's my perdiction.

Elliot acted just like any other middle aged man who found out he is going to be a daddy again....that would throw anyone for a loop...His kids are almost grown and now he has to go back to changing diapers and 2am feedings...but he is going back where he belongs....

Maybe that part of the cycle (where Kathy is upset that he's not home) will be broken at the end of season 10. Maybe Liv'll die (noooo), Elliot won't be able to do his job anymore and the combined pressure to go home will result in him retiring?

I can see where you are coming from but she in no way shape or form was talking about it that way. She had stated that she was going to imagine Kathy being like a maid in order for her shipper heart to cope with the fact that Elliot was going home to Kathy instead of Olivia. It was a joke. Also, in your avatar, there's a pic of Elliot and Olivia with their badges on their lapels (to the right of the Elliot Stabler grills for sex one). I was wondering if it was from an eppy or if it was just a random image.

LOL! It's my favorite one to use as well. Also, I am in no way shape or form trying to start a fight. I am just really suprised that something ment to be a joke was taken so seriously. Maybe I am just used to growing up around comedy and amusment that it is hard for me to see where the serious aspects could have come out of it. Sorry if you thought I was trying to start a fight. I really wasn't.
I think the avatar was from an eppy in season 5. To be honest I really have no clue if it was from off set or during an episode. I got it from

There's usually a change in the tone of voice when somebody uses your full name to irritate you or show they are annoyed with you. And from we've seen from the twins' interaction with each other, I don't see Dickie holding back from replying to his sister if she was annoying him.
We probably won't find out until Elliot calls him Dickie and is told to please stop using that nickname for him.

When I was a child, my parents and family members used to call me Beth. It's what I was called from birth really because my middle name is Elizabeth. When I got to Middle School, I no longer wanted to be called Beth. The guys in my neighborhood thought it funny to call me Big Birtha because I was a tom boy and played football. I decided that Mary was going to be what I wanted to be called because, well it is my name and I wanted to have a more grown up name without being made fun of. LOL! Little did I know that Mary would lead to be sung to everywhere I go. Lo ng story short, perhaps that is why Dickie wanted to be called Richard. The older you get, the more grown up you wish to be. Richard does sound more mature the Dickie. It's just a thought.
