I'll probably get the most expensive polorized brown lensed model in the store, I know I'm a little funny like that, but that's what I did with my other sunglasses and I'll do that with 'Victory' sunglasses biggrin.gif

What you need to do is look on their list of authorized retailers, and go to them. If they don't have them specifically, you can ask them to order a set just for you.

I'm going to go get mine (finally here!) in 5 minutes. I'll post a picture if I can.

EDIT: Just got them! biggrin.gif

They look good on you Gandido. Good pic, too.

Yeah those were on ebay a little while ago. But are the PS-826's the 'Victory'? Whenever I get a chance to get down to Solstice (the closest store around me that seel Oliver People's sunglasses) I'll have to look at all their lenses on all of their Oliver People's sunglasses

At least we know it's not Brown. But I like that Brown, I have a pair of Oakley's that have Brown Polarized lenses and those pair of Oliver People's Victory look very good. When I make my trip to Solstice in a few weeks I'll make sure to look at all the lenses, but I really like the Brown Polarized lenses biggrin.gif

Sorry if I spelled his name wrong, but those sun glasses he wears are tight! I want them! Anyone else agree?

OH Yeah...............As everyone by now knows the sunglasses are made by Oliver Peoples. The model he is wearing is called Victory with gold frames. Contrary to many comments here and on other sites the lens he's wearing is called 'Cognac"................not Rosewood as some have said. I just returned from an Oliver Peoples store (South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA) and tried both on. The Rosewood lens is so much darker the the Cognac. Going to own a pair before the year is out. Retail is 400 bones so looking on-line for a deal.........nothing yet.

I had no idea of the quality of OPs product. The frame is made of titanium, the len is made from mineral glass and has several coatings and are photo-chromatic (meaning they get darker in the sun).
Absolutely the most comfortable glasses I've ever tried on. Sold........wrap um up.....smile.gif

I don't remember where I found the pictures, but I have them here on my HD. It clearly says that the shade is called Rosewood Gradient since I made sure to write down all the exact data as it was.

As for looking up where you could buy the glasses locally, Oliver Peoples's website has a store locator that shows you through state/country which places are authorized to sell their merchandise. I just went to the one in Puerto Rico to get a pair for myself and they sent the order.

http://www.oliverpeoples.com/store/os/storelocator.aspx <- this is the address of the store locator inside their actual shop.

Will put the pics up agian when I get a good pic host. smile.gif

They are deifinetly 'not' rosewood gradient.............look at the photo above posted here. The lens is the same from top to bottom. I tried on the rosewood gradient lens today and there not even close to what he's wearing. This was in a Oliver Peoples store. Both employees I spoke with told me they know of the TV show and that they have sold several pair already because of the show. The correct lens is called 'cognac' and once you see the two together you'll have no doubt.

seriously, you are almost the spitting image of Michael Westen! smile.gif (kickass photo by vestokes!)

Check out the lens above..........it's not a gradient lens........it's the same from top to bottom. As I said already.............the lens is called cognac..........not rosewood gradient. Look at the guy posting here who has the rosewood lens and compare with the photo of Michael here......not even close smile.gif

A sunglass shop? What would they know? You need to go or chat with someone at a Oliver Peoples store.......not a store that sells Oliver Peoples products.

Anyhow, the brown/rose colour lens you describe is discontinued and was replaced with the cognac' lens.........and that is 'the' lens in his frame.

AS I said I tried on a pair and went outside in the sun to see how much darker they get and they ended up looking exactly like the photo here.

I love Mike's cognac lenses but I think they'd be a little to light for me. I think I'd go for a little bit darker of a brown tint. But I would take any brown lenses that look nice on me biggrin.gif . I guess it's time to e-mail Solstice to see if I can specially order sunglasses from them

All this talk about sunglasses made me go out and get a pair. My optometrist kept telling me I need to protect my eyes. I'm not bragging but I have better than 20/20 vision. I never wore sunglasses before because they tend to hurt the bridge of my nose. The girl that sold me mine adjusted them and they felt fine. I ended up spending $350 for a pair of Chanel that I loved as soon as I put them on. I found out later I probably could have saved about $80 if I bought them online but I wanted to make sure I could verify their authenticity.

BTW, I found this on Amazon.com. you experts on Oliver Peoples can decide if these are the ones or not. They are claiming these are it:  Oliver Peoples on Amazon

Hi All -

I'm receiving a pair of the Victory sunglasses early next week. They are Gold/Rosewood (55mm). I'll post a picture when I get them.

My source was told by his OP rep that these are the same style used in Burn Notice.

Yep they are the new model. Lenses are now 58mm instead of 55mm and the temple or arms are now 135mm instead of 140mm.

And oh yeah anyone that is looking to buy a pair and doesn't have a place near them that sells Oliver Peoples sunglasses they can always call one of the Oliver Peoples boutiques and they can place an order for them and they'll ship it to you

QUOTE (renoles @ Sep 18 2007, 08:14 PM) *
I recognize that they aren't the exact same glasses but American Optics produces square aviator sunglasses. You have to dig a little to find a vendor that sells the amber colored lens - Cosmetan is the glass lens and High Contrast Amber is the polycarbonate lens - with the gold frame and the wire spatula earpiece. They are an affordable option - under $100...most for $50-$70 (depending on vendor and options chosen). I like his glasses and his watch - but $1000+ for them is out of the question - like Michael said - drinks (or accessories in this case) are cheap and easily paid for out of an operational slush fund but it's another matter when you are scrounging for money in your mom's purse (or in my case getting married, relocating, and taking a big pay reduction).

Hello everyone

I've been watching this thread for a while now and I must agree the American Optical Original Pilot is a nice alternative to the Oliver Peoples Victory. I bought a pair in gold frames with a cosmetan lense in the 55mm size for only $60 shipped from extreme eyewear and it is rather close to the OPs:

Hope this helps anyone looking for a cheaper alternative

So you think these are pretty close?
I'm looking at the polycarbonate brown would the color be the same as cosmetan?

Yes I would say its very close the dimensions of the AO are 55-20-140 (you can get the eye in sizes 52, 55 or 57) where the OPs are 55-15-140 meaning the bridge on the AO is 5mm wider than the OPs but it is a minute difference. As far as I know the polycarbonate brown lense is the same color as the cosmetan only it's plastic instead of glass. Hope this helps!

Wouldn't the polycarbonate be preferable to the glass since it would be more scratch resistant and is polarized?
The only reason I haven't bought these yet is because I'm not sure if I want the glass cosmetan or polycarbonate brown.

There is also the choice between wire spatula and bayonet. It looks like you bought the bayonet though?

Hi Guys -

I did receive my glasses on Thursday but I didn't get a chance to really play with them until this weekend. They *are* amazing and extremely light. They feel almost a bit too fragile at times - I'm afraid I could easily bend them if I gripped them too tight.

I'll post pictures later this evening when I get home. I'll try to get a few outdoor shots with real sunlight - instead of indoor lighting.

The lens does have a slight purple-ish tint but the lens itself isn't harsh on the eyes. I have the OP Truce glasses (which I'll show side by side) and its brown lens is very effective - it really enhances anything green (trees, grass, etc.) The Victory model has a similar effect but not nearly as aggressive.

I thought at first they wouldn't be very useful in extreme bright sunlight, but they're actually quite nice. They reduce the glare enough that you don't have to squint.

As far as I know both the glass and plastic lenses are VERY scratch resistant (they are the shades that have been favored by US military pilots and marines for decades) although the polycarbonate is polarized while the glass cosmetan is not. It all comes done solely to your personal preference. The glass is probably a little heavier than the polycarbonate but it's not a problem for me.

Skipper, I'm pretty sure that the high contrast amber is the same as the polycarbonate brown so it's up to you, but I would have to recommend ordering from here: http://www.extremeeyewear.com/store/origin...asses-p-28.html

They have $5 flat rate shipping from US Mail that got from Florida to New York in three days (I placed the order Tuesday morning and they arrived Friday). Good luck and I hope this helps!

I got em!
They aren't as square as the ones on BN but they are similar.
The look and feel a little bigger (I tried on some Oliver Peoples at the mall). They also don't stay on my nose all that well but I might be able to fix that with some adjusting.
Don't get me wrong though I like them and I've had people comment on how good they look.

I know a few people who have bought sunglasses from them. And the only gripe is that even though their website says a certain model is in stock, it doesn't mean they have them in stock. So e-mail them first to see which ones they have in stock.

Java isn't exactly what Mike wears on the show though. You want Cognac with Gold frames. I've confirmed it with two or three of Oliver Peoples actually boutiques and someone in this thread confirmed it too. But hey if they have them in stock then go ahead and buy them
