I ordered my copy of UNWRITTEN by M. C. Henson on August 31, 2007. I received the autographed copy on this date, September 06,2007. This book is fabulous so please order a copy today from http://www.mchenson.com . Look on the page across from Chapter 1 it shows the ranks from Ensign (ENS) to Admiral (ADM) and other navy lingo. GO NAVY!
LadyCathain
SPOILERS BELOW FOR UNWRITTEN!!! You've been warned!

I agree with you on the must read part. It's like stepping into JAG again. I'm so excited about reading the other books in the series. Scuttlebutt has it that the next in the series will be out next year. Do you think they will really quit the Navy? I don't think they'll both actually leave.

I like the fact there is a glossary of Navy jargon. If you look on the website, there are even more listed. All the ranks are there too on Henson's website with the collar devices and sleeve lacing. I downloaded the wallpapers for the main characters.

Henson is an independent author. I wanted to support her and not the bookstores, so I ordered from her website. You can even get $5.00 off on the book if you use this coupon : USAJAGBOARD0707 at checkout. I want her to do well, so I'm telling everyone about this book. She rocks! She filled the gap that JAG being off the air created for us. I hope she gets the next one out soon. With our support, she'll be able to write the next one even sooner.

So like it is based kinda of like Mac and Harm but diffrent names and a little bit diffrent in some other areas?
LadyCathain
Something like that. Go online and read the first fifty pages- http://www.mchenson.com I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Just picture Harm's face for David. However, don't use Mac's face for Caroline. She is definitely her own woman, in all the ways Mac was not.

It is a bloody fantastic read! You can't put it down and you're forced to nail bite while you keep turning pages. I read it quickly in two nights. Now I'm forced to keep tabs on the sequels appearance (let's hope it comes fast.) You're rooting for them both from the beginning- cross with them because they won't give in to their own hearts and cheering them for being such upstanding Officers. Thought I'd post this too- it might give you all out there who are teetering on the brink of actually looking at the website a go:

"Two Naval officers, each possessing their own set of strengths find they
both have the same weakness- trust. Over the years Caroline Blaine,
intelligence officer, and David Reese, JAG corps officer, have worked
together to solve many high profile cases. Now paired again after two years
apart, they find it necessary to ultimately give in to their worst fault,
trusting someone completely and letting their guard down. Navy property has
fallen into the wrong hands and it's up to them to diffuse the situation
before it becomes an international incident. The novel begins and ends in
Caroline's hometown in the mountains of North Carolina.
In between, intrigue and stops in such places as Naples, Italy; Nice,
France; Paris, France; and London, England. Not to mention a hair-raising
and nail biting assassination in Marina, Egypt. Adrenaline will keep you on
the edge of your seat as you are launched off an aircraft carrier with the
quarreling duo. This novel proves big things come in small packages.
First impressions are not always correct either, when it comes to Agent
Caroline Blaine. Officer David Reese has met his match when she returns.
Things will never be the same."

http://www.mchenson.com [just give a click and read the first fifty- you'll be ordering the novel in no time!] Cheers!

Met the author! Had a long discussion about the next book and about what she thinks will happen with Caroline and David. She hinted that the next book might be titled Becoming, she's not totally committed to that title yet. She also said that Caroline would have the baby. YES!

Henson will be in Asheville, NC, this Saturday, November 3, at Barnes and Noble for a signing. If you can make it, go. She's a blast to talk to. She's a big JAG fan.

Update:

The sequel to Unwritten is Unbecoming. The cover art should post at mchenson.com in a couple of days. Just thought I'd post this to all of you that are following the series. I like the title.

The website http://www.mchenson.com has been re-launched according to her blog at mchenson.gather.com Looks much better than before. Has more of a JAG feel. Bruce Frazier, the music editor from JAG, is going to help record the audio version of Unwritten in January 2008. That was posted on her website. I'm excited to get my hands on the audio version, as I spend lots of time in the car. I'm hoping she'll make it available for pre-order soon. I suppose if we send her email and say we want to pre-order, then it will be easier.

I like the covers for both books. The new one has me intrigued. Dedication has a price. Sounds like conflict to me, good old fashioned JAG style.
LadyCathain
Unbecoming is now available for pre-order. I'm so there! The author will be in Franklin, NC, her hometown, (and the town the book Unwritten begins and ends in) for Winter Wonderland festivities downtown. She'll be outside signing books and meeting people on December 7, 2007, from 5:30 to 8pm. So if you're near western North Carolina, go and see her. She's great.

Hi Bubba here, thanks for the links and information.

RUMORS

I have heard a rumor that there will be a bank robbery at the beginning of the second book. Can anyone confirm this?

New Dust Jacket artwork for Unwritten second printing:

I like the new cover. Okay, now who can tell us what all those ribbons mean?

What's this about a bank robbery in the next book? Where did you hear that?

I had the rumor confirmed by the author herself on LibraryThing.com I posted a question in a group and she answered it! She said there will be a bank robbery and it will utilize the sniper skills of one Caroline Blaine. I'm curious to see just how it's going to work.
LadyCathain
I was poking around on the website again- mchenson.com- and noticed a few things. From what I've read, some of the characters in the book have ties to real people. Here's what I've come up with...

David Reese= David James Elliott
John Wheaton= John Allen Nelson
Noah Wheaton= Noah Wyle
Daniel= Daniel Radcliffe??

I wish Unwritten would be made into a movie and David would sign on. I'd like to see him in a Navy uniform again. I'd sure pay for the ticket, a couple of times.

A gal can dream, right?
londongalsw6
She did it! She has started recording the book. Here's what is posted on her blog at Gather:

"Talk about nervous! I went into the studio today for three hours and began recording my first novel, Unwritten. I wound up going through the first chapter three times. We finally got the pacing down and got to work. I was so nervous. By the end, I was rolling with it. I think I might actually make it through this. Wish me luck! I'm working on the sequel now as well. It's been good to get excited again about the first novel. It helps with the momentum to continue the next one. I'll be back in the studio again next week. If all goes well, in about a month, we'll have an audiobook."

Now if DJE would just agree to sign on and play David. We could finally see him again.

M.C. Henson added some new material to her website- a lost chapter/scene from Unwritten. The header at the top of the page says the material was cut from the novel, lost, then found on a hard drive while she was doing some maintenance apparently???

Anyway, for fans of the book- whew, it made the temperature in the room go up about twenty degrees! It is steamy. I can see why it was cut, but darn it, I'm glad it was posted for us all to drool over. READ IT! Be warned-- it is an adult only kind of thing!

Enjoy!

I keep missing you LondonGal, and you were just on.

I went straight to the website and devoured the chapter. WOW! I truly wish that material had been included. But then again, I think I would have slobbered all over my book. I can just imagine David James Elliott in those scenes!

Is it getting hot in here? Thanks so much for the heads up. Now we just have to wait for the sequel. Has anyone preordered it yet? I have biggrin.gif
londongalsw6
I'll post this here, but I'm also starting a new thread too.

M.C. Henson posted a teaser on her website for Unbecoming. Go there and read- then come back and discuss!

http://www.mchenson.com/unbecomingteaser.html

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe she's leaving us hanging on this again! Darn her! I'm just going to have pre-order now.
LadyCathain
Some of us got together and started a Yahoo! Group about this book and MC Henson. Just an FYI. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mchensonbooks/ This thread is getting long and we can discuss more things there without danger of making others mad regarding spoilers. There will be photos, covers, etc. posted as we can. Henson is an author and a photographer, which means, she lives off the kindness of others. If we don't support this book, the next one won't happen. Royalty checks are smaller than you think. I for one would like to read her next book, so I'm helping to get the word out in any way I can. I've told everyone I can think of about Unwritten and her website- mchenson.com It doesn't hurt that Unwritten is actually a great novel to read regarding JAG/NCIS. So think of five or ten people on your email list and get the word out!
LCDRAnnCollier
You all have been busy at the Yahoo! groups site. Thanks for posting the pictures of the characters to put a face with the name. I wonder who Harry is? Reading that teaser on her site makes me wonder.

I liked the huge Navy Jargon file I found on the group. I had no idea there were that many terms. I picked up the character wallpaper too.

Any speculation about the new book we should know about? There are some new items in the Unbecoming section of her website. Anyone know if she's going to be doing more book signings for Unwritten any time soon? I'm heading south and was curious.
