Wow! Andre Agassi is the best tennis announcer I have ever heard. First of all, he has such a mellow voice. He has such interesting tidbits of information (like Boris Becker's tongue tip-off). He really has a lot to share. I am so sick of hearing John McEnroe and the same old people all the time. Andre probably can't take the pay cut to do it permanently, but he is awesome!

It's nice to hear Andre. It seems to be natural for him. His insights are on the mark and he seems to be quite intent on the match. Great job, Andre!!

I agree wholeheartedly. And John Mc was great with Andre. He just let Andre lead. What a great voice mellow voice as you said, and interesting analysis. He played Federer several times, so his comments were illuminating. Thank you USA. Bring Andre back more!!! What a great nite.

Andre is AMAZING! I've never posted to an online forum before, but his comment about how he could read Becker's serve by Becker's tongue movements was the coolest thing I ever heard a player reveal....what did Andre do...watch game tape of Becker to figure that out?? That's why Andre is the best RETURNER EVER!
USANETWORK...HIRE THIS MAN!
AGASSI...IF YOU ARE READING...YOU ARE A NATURAL!

I completely agree with everybody! As a matter of fact, this my first time too to join this forum, and I just have to sound the support to keep Andre as a permanent announcer with John. They are amazingly great together. They both give us a beautiful insight about the match!!!

I agree that Agassi provides excellent commentary, and would/will make an outstanding announcer with some more air time.
Many people here have commented on Agassi's mellow voice. Personally, I would label his voice as being monotone, and not terribly entertaining to listen to. If he can add some expression and enthusiasm to his voice, that would be great. He seems like a personable and outgoing guy, so it shouldn't be too hard for him to do.

There is no better commercial for tennis than watching a Roger Federer match and listening to Agassi and McEnroe commentate. Last nights game was spectacular in all regards.
Thanks

Yes, totally agree : tennis match was fantastic and Andre and John were great; just what we need after all the negavity being posted about the other commentators.
Hope Andre accepst the invitation to guest commentate the rest of the week and then permanently.
Pity Ted didn't leave the booth with Tracy : he still had to add his 'inane comments.

I thought John Mc was even better with Andre. I think Mc didn't feel the pressure of having to pull the weight of all the match commentary; he could just relax with this other great pro at his side, who he knew was going to add meaningful and thoughtful insights. He and Andre just sounded like they were sitting on the couch at home, watching the match, and analyzing it with ease. With all the great drama on the court with FedEx and ARod, Andre's and John's commentary was a great counterpoint to appreciate it even more.

Could not disagree more. 90% of the time he focused on how amazing Federer is/was and it got soooo old. I do agree some of his comments were insightful but I don't think I could stand to watch another match where he praised Federer for 90 minutes.

I totally agree with your opinion on Agassi's voice, the first thing comes to my mind about his voice is montone, kind of boring. One of the most important ingredients for being a good commentator is the voice, which couldn't be too mellow as it can acturally bores people regardless how good the content is. I guess that's why it makes John McEnroe such a good commentator. Not only does he have the insight and knowlege about the games, his voice also add the expression to make the commentary so great. As a matter of fact, I respect Agassi's commentary, but I was kind of disappointed because I was so looking forward to hear more from John especially he is the commentator only on some matches, not all. Besides, after hearing the monotone from Agassi, I became more disappointed.

We tend to like when someone new takes up the mike. When I started watching tennis few years back I liked all the present commentators. over a period of time, their same old views and style became unbearable. Mary Carillo was my favorite commentator, but now if I hear her voice the first thing I do is mute the tv. I can't stant her egocentric manly voice and her hysteric laughs.. That is human nature, we need a change. Why can't the network conduct a American commenting Idol. There is immense talent out there. It is not that only ex-players can give good comments, those who love the sport and keep track of the current events does have good knowledge of the game. My request to the tv network is , give chance to talents out there, and retire the so called "experts".

It's just great to have Andre as a commentator and I'm so glad McEnroe invited him back for more time on the air! We miss you Andre! Who better to give the fans a sense of what the players are thinking?
