Wow! What a match. Rarely have I seen anyone spank Serena Williams the way Justine Henin did. That was some superb tennis. Hope she can keep it up through the semis, and beat Venus, too (assuming that Venus beats Jankovic today).

What a match.

But did anyone notice the announcers were trying to give Serena excuses after she fell behind in the second set. And what about the total failure of anyone to notice that Justine had triple match point. John finally had to interupt but the other 2 announcers did not stop talking.

And don't you love the - if Serena is on top of her game - she'll win. That worked for Sampras/Agassi - because Pete generally was on top of his game - but when was the last time Serena was?

Justine was on top of her game and she won! Because she is the better player.

Henin has committed herself to her tennis and it is showing in her matches. She won because she trains hard and did not let Serena overpower her like Serena does with most opponents. Henin's ability to accept her losses with class will only help her raise her level in future matches. She will continue to refine her game while the William sisters will continue to just blame it on an off day.

The Williams sisters were a great American dream story when they started. Now they are more worried about their other stuff. It's as if they are using the tennis to showcase their other interests. I bet if Serena spent half the time training that she spends designing she would be "on top of her game." However, without that commitment to training it isn't going to happen and both sisters will continue battling injuries and being "off and on." It's actually a shame that they are wasting their talents during their prime playing years.

Ah, the joy of watching Justine serve Serena her face. Yes, yes, Serena lost because Justine got "lucky" -- she was lucky enough to know the importance of commiting yourself to your game, being in shape, staying focused and persevering. Such a lucky girl.

You go, Justine! I hope you win.

I think Justine is a poor sportswoman. Tracy, Ted and McEnroe spent to much time lauding her last night but completely forgot about her gamesmanship at the French and the stunt she pulled in Australia with Amelie. I'm annoyed with Serena for not giving it her all. Hopefully Venus will end her run.

I think the point here is that Justine has committed herself to the game since she retired with "no energy" at the Autralian back in January of '06 and it shows. She is rewarding fans of tennis with an amazing game to watch. While I grant you the French Open incident (even though it was over 4 years ago) was poor form, she has rarely if ever exhibited a lack of grace towards her opponents.

While Venus has also been on her game, Serena obviously has not. The problem, and source of ridicule, comes from the fact that she shows up after a huge match and says 1) she is in shape ("I can run for hours", whatever the hell that means) and 2) implies her opponent won by hitting lucky shots.
