Who cares what celebrities didn't pay for tickets that mere mortals couldn't afford? Who cares which pro is now designing their own hideous outfits?

Why doesn't USA and/or US Open.com give a crap about a kid who just turned 19, hails from a tiny country called Latvia and is through to the round of 16 IN STRAIGHT SETS??????? What about "watching history being made"? What about growing some interest in the sport by showing a truly improbable success story?

As far as I'm concerned you can shove Federer-mania, the Williams sisters, analysis of when Roddick will eventually choke and Nadal's "smashing good looks". Show some real tennis played by a kid who is ecstatic to be on the biggest stage in the world and kicking butt doing it! Just look at the ear-to-ear grin on his bio picture.

This is a feel-good story that should be run ad nauseum. Good for the game. Good for Latvia. Good for Ernests Gulbis!!!
