I don't know how people can possibly say that the woman that beat Maria Sharapova is an unsportsmanlike person. I mean just listen to the sound when shes playing. Maria shrieks and when points really get going Maria completely stops. Not to mention that the announcers have stated that when Maria plays with college men she doesn't shriek at all and she's smacking the ball. Now Jim Courier the rudest announcer I have ever heard seems to think that Aggie was unsportsmanlike. I mean COME ON the only reason Aggie started doing that, that being scooting up closer to the service line, is because Maria kept on taking FOREVER in between points. Even when her opponent is serving she turns her back on the court.

In the past I have usually been a fan of Maria's but lately not so much. It's the shrieking that drives me nuts.If it was from "effort" on her part I think that's one thing but it's meant as a distraction & is just as "unsportsmanlike" as Aggie stepping closer to the service line.Which by the way I never even knew it was ANY kind of rule---unwritten or not. I thought Tracy was right--you do what you have to if you want to win & Jim looked like a spoiled little boy who wasn't getting his way--waaa waaa.

Sharapova is a bigtime cheater. Not only with the shrieking, but with the constant coaching from the sidelines from that horrible father of hers.

Plus, Courier's point is ridiculous... the reason you don't see that type of behavior (moving up close to the line and back on a serve) at the professional level is because it usually DOESN"T WORK at the professional level. If that girl tried doing that to Serena Williams, she would have a tennis ball lodged up her ass b/c Serena has a really good serve. Sharapova, on the other hand, has a crappy serve and is a notorious double faulter, and the girl was merely taking advantage of that fact. Sure, it's not the best sportsmanship in the world, but the bottom line is that Sharapova needs to work on her serve.

I agree wholeheartedly. I've watched Maria practice and she dosen't shriek. I beleive this is
a tactic to cover up the sound of her striking of the ball and of intimidation. I used to think
it was part of getting the most energy behind shots but other players just grunt and expell air
without ever shrieking so I've changed my mind. I hope someday someone will come out with a
book, maybe Maria, where they explain this in truth. I know they'll never tell her to stop as
she fills seats big time.
I was so pleased to see that match and how Aggie played on her weekness. Radawanska came
right out and said she did it just because she knew it bothered Maria when opponents moved
around. Consdiering the crap Maria pulls I'd say, payback!!! And notice she did move back during
the actual serve. Next time I see Aggie,I'll be pulling for her. What a great Young lady.
