Full Version: Reassigned? The Old Days Are Over?

Could someone clue me in on the voice over that comes on when you log onto the Criminal Intent Daily Schedule page on USA Network??

I know that LOCI is switching to USA Network for Season 7 in the first-run eps, followed by an encore broadcast of the same ep later on NBC.

But on that voice over I hear the announcers voice say something about the detectives being reassigned and Goren shouting "The old days are over! They're over!"

I missed the last two Goren eps of Season 6 because I moved and I have not been able to afford to get cable TV again due to health problems draining my finances. So if that line was from one of those eps, please excuse my ignorance.

Loved hearing the emotion in Bobby's voice again! Haven't heard that kind of energy from Goren for a LONG time!

I noticed on another site that Wolf Production moved from Pier 62 in NYC to a Los Angeles addy.

Is Logan getting yet another new partner?

What LOCI needs to do is ditch Logan and go back to featuring D'Onofrio in every ep. The show began to flounder when the producers decided to punish Vincent for having health problems beyond his control and add Noth to the show. I am SO fed up with not seeing Goren in all 22 eps!

Thanks in advance for any answers to my questions!

Yes, Logan is getting a new partner. Her name is Det. Nola Falacci, played by Alicia Witt, who will be a temporary replacement for Julianne Nicholson's character as Nicholson is out on maternity leave.

I always liked the Mike Logan character on the original series, and the short time him and Jerry Orbach were together, were some of the best. If I remember correctly Briscoe (Orbach) came on in mid season 4, I can't remember if Logan (Noth) left at the end of season five or six. The next few that came after him, up until the current Det. Green character, didn't seem to have much personality.

Logan brings a special character to the show, and as such, I think he is a good addition to the show.
Logan and Goren each bring their own breed of craziness to the cause. Having Logan's partner change all the time is not helping the flow of the series. Is there some reason his partner has to be a woman?

The one thing I have always wondered about on CI, is why they isolate the teams. On SVU there are essentially two teams of detectives, but occaionally you will see an episode where Elliiot will work with Tutuola or Olivia will work with Finch.

The other element that seems missing is the ADA character has been elimated, for the most part, from the show. I enjoyed the ADA Carver character.

I started watching the original law and order from it's conception.. the best years of that show were the very beginning ..the Chris Noth character was terrific.. and I loved his partner ..max greavy.. played by George Dzundza... they played off each other better than any team of cops ever have. Michael Moriarty was amazing as the ADA and really the show was never the same after he left. Then Dundza was gone and Logan had another partner.. then he left and Orbach enters...The assistant to the ADA has changed so many times I can't keep up.. Richard Brooks was the first and it's been a woman ever since.. and many of them. The show lost it's luster .. for me.. with all the changes.. then CI came along for me.

Chris Noth was brought in to actually SAVE the show. Vincent D'Onofrio was exhausted, and a real threat to possibly leave without some kind of releif.. enter Noth. so.. even if for no other reason... I am truely glad he's aboard.
As for isolating the teams.. the original Idea of the show was to focus on the extra-ordinary detective Goren.. the show was pretty much writen for this character. Things have changed over the years.. especialy with the addition of Noth..so.. getting the teams together now and then seems natural. maybe they will do that now and then... But the shows are different.. Law and Order...SVU and CI..they need to keep what makes them unique.. one from the other.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but did anyone catch the new comercial last night during anti-theses, About moving into a new neighborhood? Starts with Ross telling Logan were out of here and he slams his fist on the table. Its a cuts of season 6 episodes, They have them breaking down the door of Eames house and then Monk saying Howdy, then Goren holding a sofa cushion saying this is comfy. Thought it was so cute, Like Monk is welcoming them to USA.

Bug,
I've been meaning to ask an expert on the original L&O what happened to Dzundza's character. Was he killed off? I remember them fondly too but life got in the way of my television viewing back then and before I knew it, Max was gone. Do you remember?

hi moondance... Yes Max was murdered outside his home after he returns from testifying in a mob related case. The scene is: Max has just returned and his outside his home unloading his car. Logan haS called his wife to find out if Max has returned.. and she is watching outside her window as she talks to Logan.. then she sees a man come up to Max and and shoot him. It's dark she can't see who it is..and as she talks toLogan and this happens ...she screams and Logan cry's Marie..Marie!.. He knows what is happening .. Its very gripping.. the entire episode follows Mike through his grief and anger as he tries to find Max's killer.. He crosses the line when he captures the man.. by putting his gun to the mans's head and cocking it.. terrifying the man into a confession.. It is the finest work Noth has ever done in my opinion.. If you ever get a chance to see it... please do!

Quick Note: We also have discussion started on the Season 6 Marathon Thread about the New Neighborhood Promo. I'll post a Cross-Reference on it as well. As of this date, 09/11/07, there are posts about USA Promos on at least 4 different threads (October Marathon, Season 6 Marathon, The Old Days are Over, and Ads on USA). Though a couple of these have been more-or-less terminated, I think we can all agree that we need a judgment as to what Thread may be considered "the correct" thread for the many different Promos on USA.

Bubba:
You seem to be trusted by all. Can you make a decision for us?
Thanks.

(Note, I will post this request on the other 3 threads as a cross reference to avoid the appearance of favoritism.)

Hi Bug!
Thanks for the answer. I love your description of the death scene. I'm growing more fond of Noth as I watch Seasons 5 and 6. I didn't give him a chance because I was moping around about not having Vincent and Katie every week, but I was "cutting off my nose to spite my face" as the saying goes. Now I've got a crush on Noth (who's at least a more age-appropriate crush for me) and I'm amazed that I, a middle-aged widow woman, have crushes at all BUT to have 2 crushes on the 2 men who star on LOCI is bizarre. I'm recommending LOCI to all my hormonally-imbalanced sisters.

Speaking of sisters, my husband's twin sister passed away in Rochester last week and I stayed with his baby sister for a couple of days and guess what--she's a LOCI fanatic as well. She may be worse off than I--she has the t-shirt, baseball cap and has purchased lots of videos and dvds of D'Onofrio's movies. She's going to sign up for these boards--she's on the NBC Boards now but visits here. She broke out laughing when I told her I was Moondance and she called me a "big fat shipper". It's a small, bizarre world.
