Sometimes I think the "psychic episode" parts are too drawn out. That's about it.

Are you talking about when he has an " over the top vision episode" or the "zoom in special effect cue music thing" when shawn observes somthing? because im getting tired of that...just a little.

I wish there was more time with Henry in episodes. He should join their team!!! laugh.gif

The over-the-top vision stuff, where Shawn starts flailing around and acting crazy. I thought Season One did a pretty good job at these--they were all pretty-well spaced out, and it didn't feel like the show depended on them. Zero to Murder in 60 Seconds overdid it, in my opinion. The episode had three different parts I can remember off the top of my head, and the last one (Where he was listening to "Bessy") just felt like it was stalling at that point. One in an episode every now and then isn't too bad, two is a stretch...I just don't want to see the show become that joke. They've got plenty of other fresh material they can use to fill those spaces.

We love the show. Especially my 9-11 year old boys. We TIVO it every week and watch it as a family.

Our only request is to keep up the great work and keep it so that the entire family can watch it together.

There are so few shows that both parents and kids together as a family.

Good comment, I remember reading on the Burn Notice forum that curseing is becoming an issue with some people on the show. It good to know that entire families can enjoy Psych together.

As a longtime Milwaukee resident I have to complain about Shawn's comment in the Episode "And down the stretch comes murder" Gus states that in 3rd grade Shawn wanted to be the mascot for the Milwaukee Brewers at which point Shawn replies "Dude, he's the biggest sausage in the world!" WRONG!
The mascot for the Milwaukee Brewers is and has always been Bernie the Brewer, a man with blonde hair that wears a Brewer's uniform and slides down a big slide anytime a Brewer hits a homerun. Shawn has confused our mascot with the famous sausage races which are held during the 7th inning, in which people dressed in costumes as various sausages (Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog and Chorizo) race from left field to home plate.
FYI -The sausage races didn't even start until the 1990's well after Shawn would have been in the 3rd grade.
Had to clear that up.
Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, Psych is my and my wife's favorite show and, thanks to TiVo, we never miss an episode. One of our favorite pasttimes, though, is to watch the show and point out all the obvious things that don't belong in Santa Barbara. We know, since we live there, in the real Santa Barbara.

I know they shoot in Vancouver, but come on, how hard would it be for them to pop up to Santa Barbara when they're in post and snap some exteriors? Sure, they sprinkle them here and there (I was impressed in the one where Lassiter's car was stolen how they used an exterior of the actual SB Police Department building), but sometimes it's obviously stock footage, such as the one time they preceeded a shot inside a convention center with an aerial exterior of the UCSB campus... no clue on that one...

I was pleased to learn recently that an aquaintance's son was just hired on as a writer, someone who actually grew up in Santa Barbara. I had noticed that they seemed to be getting more and more right this season, but it's still got a ways to go... I mean, in the episode with Lou Diamond Phillips they talk about seeing the perp's car "outside of town, in Goleta." People who live in Santa Barbara would never refer to someplace as "outside of town, in Goleta." Goleta is a suburb, and not that many people really know exactly where one ends and the other begins, much less distinguishes them in casual conversation. However, the fact that they are mentioning Goleta at all is a step in the right direction.

Keep it up! The humor is exactly on target, and I honestly believe it's the funniest, freshest show on TV.

I love the way they've backed off the romance between Shawn & Juliet... it's much funnier when he's not constantly wooing her. I also like that Jules and Lassie have become allies of sort, and I've been loving the way Lassie's character is evolving.

I think I'd like to see one of the cops start to be more skeptical of Shawn's "psychic" powers... something along the lines of "I don't know how you do it, but I know you're not psychic." There was a hint of that between Lassie and Shawn earlier, but it seems to have phased out.

The plots/mysteries could use a little work... they're kind of obvious these days.

Overall, though, it's still very funny stuff!
PsychedOut
I'm with you on the whole 'Shawn wooing Jules' thing. I like when he does try, as long as they don't overdue it. It's good in moderation. smile.gif

I know I know, It sounds like I'm blastpheming, but
I would really like the cases or mysteries to be a little more challenging.
The humor(which the show wouldn't work without) is great!

Keep up the good work Psych.
Top 5 in the ratings is what we're shooting for next!!!

I'm sure you all are going to think I am crazy when I say this but I don't care. Dective Lassie's car really bothers me. I was watching the episode where his car is stolen and just cringed when I saw the car. It is just so. . . RED.

Haha I can't remember, but was it a sports car? 'Cause if it wasn't, then I'm sort of with you.

Anyone who complains about this show simply doesn't like to laugh and be entertained! (Could be expecting WWWWAAAAYYYY to much from t.v. or actors)

People who reply to this thread are mostly just asking for other people's opinions, sharing general information, or just asking a question. At least that's what I've read from most of these posts. Anyway, I agree that this show is AWESOME and I don't understand why anyone would have complaints. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions though, and it's interesting to hear them. wink.gif

**The post above is my own opinion, if you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to send me a message. But please don't start an argument over it on this thread. Thanks!**

The whole purpose of this forum topic is to share "Opinions" about the show and its episodes.
Those opinions can be in the form of a complaint, constructive criticism, Or even praise.
Surely everyone here is not going to agree that the show is perfect the way it is...and this is a way for psych fans to voice their opinion on the show!

Complaints abouts others complaining(constructive criticism) is pointless.

I like how both of you worded that. Good job!

I really can't fault the show at all. I admit, I didnt' watch it last year. I saw the previews and thought it would be somewhat silly.

Then this summer I recorded the second episode just for the heck of it. I'd seen an article about the show in our local tv guide, about how much fun the show was, in a time when tv really isn't all that much fun.

I recorded. I watched. I'm hooked. I immediately went out and bought Season 1 on DVD after that. And then proceeded to laugh my butt off. This show reminds me so much of an 80's type show, where it's not afraid to make fun and be enjoyable television. So much on tv is dark or just flat-out bad. Psych is a breath of fresh air.

Okay, my only complaint would be that since it's a summer time series, we get fewer episodes and we have to wait SO long for the a new season.

I absolutely love the chemistry and relationship between Shawn and Gus. Actually all of the main characters seem perfectly cast. I can't find fault with any of them. But it's that interaction between Shawn and Gus that makes the show so enjoyable.

Psych is just fun television. Heck, it's even got a great theme song! I hope we get many more seasons to come.

I hate to be the only naysayer and willing to accept the flames if the show runners take this to heart but...

The first season had just the right mix of action, humor and character development. In an effort to improve it {I suppose} they've amped up the humor at the expense of balance. It feels like every bit of dialogue is a one liner -- many are good but it can become tiresome. I wish they'd go back to the first season approach.

I've always judged a show by how angry I get when I screw up the VCR timer. Last year, Psych was in the "very angry" category. This year I'll watch if I'm around but no more upset at missing one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for season three.

Go ahead, gang. Flame away.

I like your points TwoHands, they make a lot of sense. I definitely loved the First season a lot and I do have to agree some episodes of the second season were a little "off-balance"..but I still love Psych and every show has it's good and bad points. smile.gif

And Ravi, I totally agree with your point about having to wait too long for the next season and too few of episodes...only two episodes left.. sad.gif
PsychedOut
To those who say the first season was better than the second so far, that's ok. There's a lot of cases where the 2nd season of a show doesn't always add up to the 1st. I think it's called the Sophomore slump. It happened with another one of my favorite TV shows, 'Lost'. Everyone kept saying that the 2nd season was killing the show and it would never be as good as the 1st season again. But, in time, it got so much better.

So just give Psych some time if you're not satisfied with it so far. I have no doubt that it'll come back around.
I do think the season has been amazing. smile.gif
Corgi
I'm enjoying the second season more so than the first. I thought the first was just alittle too silly or maybe it's just because I've gotten use to it this time around. But it has to be an awesome show in order to get me to turn on the TV and Psych is just that, awesome smile.gif

ALL shows have flaws either in a certain character, episode, script or visuals.

I guess I would like to say that I can understand where everyone is coming from. For me, I try to look at television as entertainment. A lot of times, people(not anyone here, just in general) will say that a certain instance could never happen or something wasn't realistic enough, etc. No t.v. show can be perfect and true to life unless it is supposed to be that way. I think shows nowadays try to be as realistic as they can compared to the shows back in the 70's and 80's. But I just don't like to watch a show like Psych or any other that I enjoy and be too nit picky about it. I feel then that you are getting away from the true meaning of the show and are focusing on the flaws too much. That being said, I know that I just loved the first season of Psych and when I watch it this season, I just want to see it get better and better and when an episode is good but not fantastic I feel a little bit of a let down but I am not tired of it. I love it though, I really can't complain because it is a show that I watch to be entertained, if I want to see the perfect cases or mysteries I guess I would watch CSI or Law and Order. It's the combination of everything on the show and the cast of characters that by watching takes me away from reality for an hour and that is what I want in a good t.v. show. The one criticism I have as far as filming that I have noticed are little things like when say Juliet is talking to Lassie and she's looking up at him then when they go to his face you'll see her looking down, then when they go back to her she's looking up. Do you know what I mean?? I guess you'd call that filming flaws. Or where someone will be talking with their face away from the camera but their lips don't move. You can tell that the clips are filmed out of sequence or edited in. But that's it, that is all I notice.

It's the same with me, I just don't notice any flaws. And if I do, I just don't really pay attention to them, because Psych is a great show! (really really great haha). I did notice one thing in American Duos, though. The crystal found in Emilina's hotel room was on Bevin Rennie Llywellen's necklace, but when Shawn is revealing what happened, it shows Zapato poisoning Emilina. Either Zapato was wearing the necklace for some reason, they were really both there, or the Psych people made a mistake (ooooh).

i would have to agree, but im sure there are things to complain about, just not for me.
i suppose i do have one complaint although i dont think it can really be called a complaint. i think there shoudl be some more serious moments in the show. dont get me wrong. i LOVE the humor. its what the show is all about! and i still think that should usually be the main focus. but for some serious/dramatic parts. it helps you care more about the characters, and gives the show more depth and reality. like when shawns dad asks if he got hurt on his motorcycle or the very close talking. a few more moments like that would go a long way.

never really thought of that but yeah, Having some serious dramatic elements every once-in-a-while, would help to ground the characters and add more realism/believability to the show. Good Comment.
MaggieJuliet
yeah but youd be surprised how many people dont think so! i started a poll on fanpop.com about whether there should be more serious moments or not, and most people are voting no! but i think that we might see that later in the series. they used the funny stuff to get people to watch, and now we care about the characters, so they will start adding some more serious. at least i hope so.

I notice the "serious" moments as well. I think it helps make things more "real". Like for example with the Henry/Shawn motorcycle moment. It just is a little something that helps show the human side of the characters. Even though Henry gets mad at Shawn all the time, that little question shows that he loves his son. Fortunately it's the type of show that can do that. Not everyone's life is comics and jokes all the time right??
