Tony Shalhoub, would you ever consider getting online and posting here with your fans? Pretty please with cream and sugar on top.

rolleyes.gif

We are really a nice group who think that the series Monk is absolutely the best!! Please come and play with us for awhile?
If we all asked politely maybe then he might visit with us.

tongue.gif

Admit it now...how many of ya all checked this thread out?
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, we are a very nice family here. smile.gif Plus, I have a lot more questions ask. laugh.gif wink.gif
AliceCooper
You go, Bubba!

If Tony posts someone is going to have to come to my house and pick me up off the floor.
innardamok
Tony posting here would be one thing, but I bet he checks the board at least once in a while. I know I would if I were the star of my own TV show! Consider it the public view equivalent of the "level-checking-level"!
luvinmonk
I am all for that!!! smile.gif

I would love it if Tony would pop in for a visit with us!!! smile.gif

I like to think that he might post here with us even just for one time. smile.gif

If he did then it would be way beyond super cool. I suppose it doesn't hurt to hope.
Ariana
Tony, PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE talk to us. And don't worry (or even be scared), we're not like Marci at all.

And also don't be scared of me, because my hair is red (I swear: In reality it is brown wink.gif ).

Maybe you'd talk to us, if I give you the recipe of "Gundelpalatschinken"? biggrin.gif

Yeah, but also with nuts wink.gif and here's another pic, a better one maybe:

Tony, don't they look delicious to you? biggrin.gif

That looks good, did you make it?? I can't make pancakes, if i try to flip the it gets stuck on the ceiling cause it's still a bit sticky from the mix, or it ends up on the floor!![/quote]
Ariana
Hi PinkieMONKER, I hope that this thread won't end as a recipe thread off topic. But I already made this "Gundelpalatschinken" myself, yes. But I don't throw (flip) the pancakes I just turn them round wink.gif . But I think Tony can throw/flip them. smile.gif

BTW (to return to the real topic and to go on with my baits biggrin.gif ): Tony, have you already tried a pancake-soup? In Austria it is a national dish and you can get it in almost every restaurant and we call it "Frittattensuppe":
This time I'll only post a link:

Ha ha, right, i just think it's fun tongue.gif , until it lands on your head!! dry.gif
spinner
Ariana, that sure looks good!! I wonder are they hard to make? Of course with chocolate plus nuts on them, too much temptation for me. LOL I've only made pancakes and waffles.

I read somewhere Tony was looking for a good pancake recipe from scratch not the mix kind. Tony, did you find a good one and would you share the recipe on this thread? Please.

Pinkie,

If you flip them that hard you're using too much "english." (Don't know if you're familiar with this pool term.) It's all in the wrist. And a little non-stick spray could help. I prefer crepes or waffles, myself.

Maybe this thread could be moved to a new thread entitled "Recipes for Tony." I like the fact that when I type in this box the title above reads "Replying to Tony Shalhoub." Yeah. Maybe one day...

@ spinner: Yes, they are "heavy" (the nuts are not only "on" the pancakes wink.gif ), but delicious, believe me. A dish not for every day, but for every now and then biggrin.gif. And if you know how to make a pancake everything else is easy to make.

@ PinkieMONKER: Some people make the mistake and don't let the pancake "dough" rest. (I hope you know what I mean.)

@ AliceCooper: Yeah, I also do hope that we can return to the topic somehow, because the recipe should be a bait for Tony to talk to us biggrin.gif . I just got the idea to offer him something he likes and I chose pancakes. I think this would be much harder to do with a matchbox car. biggrin.gif

I'm not familiar with that term, but still i think you may be right, maybe i'll do it a little less "English" this time lol, than maybe it'll work for me ha ha!! biggrin.gif I think that your topic idea is great to, we should do that, i also know what you mena about the replying thing!!

I forgot: Because spinner mentioned that Tony searches for a pancake to scratch and not to mix. Sorry, I don't know what that means, but that remembered me to Austrian's most famous national dish made out of pancakes called "Kaiserschmarrn": Sorry, to all, that I go on with this, but maybe this would be more a bait for Tony, if he doesn't know it already:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiserschmarrn

Looks like Austria is a pancake nation, but maybe this is because it looks like a pan a little bit biggrin.gif :

Making something from scratch just means homemade and not using a mix from the store. It is a term I've heard all my life here where I live.

I am going to check out your link now. smile.gif

This is a good discussion since Tony's a pancake lover. Does anybody like buckwheat pancakes? They have a unique flavor, I like them! With maple syrup and butter of course. tongue.gif

Some time ago we took a trip down through the Shenendoah to the Blue Ridge in Virginia. We stopped at this area called The Peaks of Otter. There was a restaurant there, a nice place to pull off with a stream running through it. We saw some salamanders and a not-so-friendly water moccassin there. For breakfast I went local and had the buckwheat pancakes and the Virginia-cured ham. Between the sponginess of the pancakes (which made the maple syrup disappear) and the saltiness of the ham, I think I downed 2 pots of coffee all by myself. Breakfast was good but I think I'll pass on the ham next time.

I have an entire book of nothing but pancake recipes. I like to make crepes, nice and thin, and wrap them around some fruit. And then there's potato pancakes.

Well you know what they say: "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Wonder if that's true? Works for me. And I'm a girl.

And Pinkie, to use "english" is basically to put a lot of energy into your cue stroke. You give the ball a good whack and it causes the ball to spin and curve when it hits the cushion.

I always thought the fastest way to a man's heart was through his chest. wink.gif

And technically, doesn't putting 'english' on it mean to put the energy of the cue stroke off center of the cue ball, like to one side, or the bottom? I know that putting 'english' on the bottom of the ball causes it to spin in the opposite direction of what it normally does, so once the energy carrying forward is expended and the forward momentum slows enough, the ball will slow down faster, stop, or even roll backwards depending on how hard you hit it. English to the left or right, I believe makes the cue ball's trajectory curve slightly. If I remember right. I haven't really played pool since before I was married and I tend to forget everything my dad tries to teach me. smile.gif He tried to teach us how to play pool from as early as I can remember, but I wouldn't say any of us were champs at it. If I have misinformed anyone, it's unintentional, and I would appreciate it if someone would correct me.

Yes, Liv, you are absolutely correct. The first part about the chest (yik). And the second part about pool. You are quite possibly one of the more knowledgeable people I have never really met. laugh.gif

Thanks, i'll think of that next time i make them, do you reckon if you put nutmeg on a pancake with chocolate sauce, you'd still hallucinate?? (I do know that if you have too much nutmeg you do have hallucinations, like if you take drugs, only it's not quite a drug!!)

Tony, I guess you aren't going to post with us. Snif sad.gif Snif

I really thought you might give us a howdy or your pancake recipe. Maybe your pancake recipe is a secret!! Ha ha, that must be the reason.

I would practice making pancakes every weekend if you was a mind to share. biggrin.gif

Nice to... never meet you. biggrin.gif

My daughter likes to tell me as often as possible that I am an encyclopedia of useless knowlege, stuff that most people never, ever have a need to know.

Yeah but you never know when you may need it, so it's good to know it as well, it's useful but unuseful as well, you know if that makes sense!! tongue.gif

I don't think he should visit any Monk message boards. Like (I think) he mentioned before, he doesn't want the opinions of others to mar the character for him..
starbright
Just looking to see if Mr. Shalhoub ever checked this thread out. You can't blame a girl for hopeing, now can you? I'm into healthy recipes and thought he might have a good one. smile.gif Besides pancakes every weekend from his recipe would make the time in between new Monk episodes happier. wink.gif
AliceCooper
Personally, I'm not sure how personalities feel about their more obsessive fans. For instance, I would never hand him a wipe. That's gotta suck. People should start handing him pancake recipes. That would be something new. Way out of left field, in fact.
Maybe it would be an episode: Mr. Monk and the Pancake Plot
