I've been wondering where Promicin came from, was it artificially created in a lab or did someone in a future time evolve and start producing it naturally. If the lather, who was patient 0(or whatever you call the first)?

Hmm wasn't it that doctor - professor Kevin who kind of startede the developement of Promicin - in present time - as I remembered it. Or did som pre studies or something like that -
The patient 0 - as far as I know - present time - it is all the 4400 - they were given the promicin in the future - and sendt back all at the same time.
Otherwise it would be Isabelle - she was the first one to be born P positive.

That is an interesting question. The 4400 can't be patient 0 because where did the future get promicin to give to the 4400 to begin with? Also with Keven he developed it after the 4400 came, I think it was one of the 4400 who freed his mind because he was locked inside of some kind of mental state. So if the 4400 person had not freed his mind, he would not have developed the promicin. So I wonder who the patient 0 was too.

Like the Tootsie Pop owl says, the world may never know! Seriously, I think it may have been created in the original timeline by scientists working for the government. Because it was in the hands of the powerful few, it created turmoil and destroyed manking. Since the PFTF said the catastrophe started in Seattle, I'm guessing the scientists who developed it either were based in Seattle, or originally tested it in Seattle. I have no evidence to support this theory, but it is a scenario that is consistent with Jordan thinking that making promicin generally available will prevent the world he saw.

Then, it was produced on a synthetic way, and distributed, perhaps, to the rest of the population that took so long or could not develop it naturally.

I also agree that it was originally synthetic. Kevin started with the research and was getting close but then he had to be hospitalized, I figure someone else came along and continued his research then developed promicin and like Rock said, it was probably used by the government.

I believe that it was naturally occuring. That people started producing the chemical naturally and started developing abilities. This could be because of what ever caused the dying of the eco system. The good pftf saw the "good" they could do and change things, but they need more people with abilities, and they needed to start sooner. They took the 4400 and injected them with the promicin and sent them back. I think Keven was awakened because of the fact that he was the "Leading" Neuroscientist of our time, and they needed him to be able to continue studing neurotransmitters so that he could "create" even more 4400s. Here is another thought. If taking promicin has a 50/50 chance of survival--could they haven taken 8800 people and these are the ones that survived? Or is promicin more survivable in the future? Also, do the pftf have abilities? Just me rambling.

I think it was natural, and Kevin's research just sort of boosted it. That's why the future woke him up in my opinion. In the original timeline, promicin had to develop naturally, but the process was so slow that even that far into the future (whatever time TPFTF are from), people were still devided and not everyone had it. So they woke Kevin to speed up the process.
