Anyway... My mom and dad, my best friend and I all got there just literally MINUTES before it started... So we quickly found our seats and got comfortable --- me and my best friend in the 2nd row, my mom and dad under the canopy... sort of... hehehe. Tim LaRoche opened up the show... He actually got to do a pretty lengthy set... probably 45 minutes to an hour. He did make sure to include the one song he got to play on Nashville Star --- "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". He did a great job, not just with that song, but with his whole set.
When Tim finished, the crew started breaking down the stage with HIS equipment to set up the Nashville Star stuff... Zac came out to help... at least with his own stuff, anyway. Hehe... I had gotten up to stretch my legs... and go check on my mom and dad (make sure they were enjoying themselves, ya know? Hehe). When I saw him, I decided I'd go up to the stage to say hi, so I excused myself and made my way over to the stage... as close as I could, anyway. They had it roped off a couple of feet from the stage, so people could go up front and take pictures. Aaaaaaaaaaanyway, when I got up to the stage, he was still plugging stuff in and setting up, so I thought I'd wait patiently. Except... my best friend, standing behind me, clearly didn't know what I was thinking and thought she'd be 'helpful' and shouted up to him "HEY ZAC!!" He looked around to see who had called him and saw me instead. He came up to the front of the stage, leaned over and down a bit, and shook my hand, saying "HEY! It's great to see you!" and then we both went on our merry ways. But... needless to say, that made my day! Hehe...
Then the show started... all the contestants came out --- starting with Josh singing the first few lines, followed by David joining him. A few seconds and lyrical lines later, Zac came out to join them... along with Angela. They were now all on stage, singing "4th of July". After that song, they all left the stage... and they started rolling highlights/clips of Josh on the show. Then he came out for his set... consisting of "I'm In A Hurry" (which, if you remember, was the song the judges chose for "judges selection" week... to see if he'd collapse on stage when attempting a fast-paced song because he "needs to learn to breathe" better... hehehe). He followed that up with an original that commanded a standing ovation from the audience --- "Can't Buy A Beer". It's not my favorite of his songs, but it's well-written... as most of the audience would tell you. Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy" was next, then "I Wish I Missed You" from Originals Night. Ya know what I wish? I wish this song was on his CD that he has for sale on the tour, but it's not.
*pout* His last song was another original "Rock 'n' Roll and Pensacola" (this is one of my favorites of his songs, actually, with "Trying To Love You" being my favorite)... He told us that since it sounded sooooo much like it, Pepsi actually asked him about using that line from his song... with a little teeny adjustment... Rock 'n' Roll and PEPSI Cola... hehe... He had the audience 'try it out' with him a couple of times. Then he was gone. They started the clips/highlights of David from the show, and he came out singing "Wave on Wave". I really like how he does that song. He did an original next, called "Evening All Afternoon". I really, really like this song and hope he puts on his new CD... whenever that comes out. I'm not 100% sure of the title of the next song, but it's something like "(All I Really Want Is) A Little Bit of You" followed by my absolute favorite DSR song, "Please." And yes, "Please" IS on David's CD.
He ended his set with "That's Where I Wanna Be" (again, guessing at the title) that he performed on the show for Originals Night.Zac was next... Yayyyyyy!! Hehe... After HIS clips/highlights rolled, he started out with a great bluesy, rockin' song... and amazingly it was a song I'd never heard him do before. Soooo... I'm guessing at the title of this one, too... but I think it was something like "Crossroads". Awesome, awesome song, though! Fantastic beat/groove to it! No one does "Tupelo Honey" better than Zac... not even Mr. Morrison himself! So, I wasn't 'zactly complaining when he chose that as his next song, even though it's NOT a Zac Hacker original. Besides... he DID do an original next, "Get Your Love On". Everyone had fun with that one, even David and Josh, who were backstage during Zac's set... They opened the door at the rear of the stage and poked their heads out and sang along with Zac every time he hit the line "get your love on" of the chorus. Hehe... "If It Wasn't For The Whiskey" was next. I don't think it's possible for Zac to do a show now, and NOT perform that song. It easily became his "instant hit" when he played it on the show for Originals Night. His last song was another from the show, the always fun "Memphis Women and Chicken". When he introduced the song, he asked if anybody was ready for some chicken... or something along those lines. I knew what he was referring to, so I cheered my loudest... even if I WAS the only one cheering! Hehehe... ok, ok... I was screaming! So? What's your point? Hehe... He already thinks I'm crazy. How much worse could it get? LOL!!
After Zac finished his set, they rolled Angela's highlights/clips and please forgive me, but I forget the order in which she performed her songs. I was so transfixed on looking through some of the pictures I'd just gotten during Zac's portion, that I almost forgot my other duties --- namely, keeping a detailed track listing of each performer. FORTUNATELY, I have a pretty decent memory, so when I realized my error, I quickly jotted down which songs Angela had already performed... I just don't remember which ORDER she played them. For those who are curious, YES, Zac DID play with her on most songs... all but one, I think... Ok, let's see... she played "When Will I Be Loved" and "I Can't Make You Love Me"... both songs were ones she performed on the show. She did 2 original songs which are both on her CD that was released in April --- "Love Me Wild" and "Emotionless". I love both of those songs, so I was happy with her choice. She also played a new one for us, which, she said, hopefully will be on her new CD due out in the fall after the tour is complete. Lee Turner (Nashville Star band keyboardist) wrote the song, simply titled "Used". Great song, and I hope it IS on the CD this fall! After that song, she and Zac did a duet... the same one they ended the season with, "Hard to Handle". Josh and David joined Zac and Angela to conclude the show. If you ask me, the only thing that was "hard to handle" was the fact that the show was over at that point. It simply went by too quickly.
