To start off, I became familiar with JD's name in Touching Evil. That show totally rocked and I'm sad it was cancelled. Although, I guess if they hadn't cancelled it, someone else would be playing Michael Weston right now!
However, now that I've become reacquainted with him in Burn Notice I felt the need to research him a little. And let me say how surprised I was to find that he had appeared in some of my previous favorite shows! His guest starring roles came back to me and it was like, "Oh my gawd! That was him??!!"
Witchblade: He was Pez's love interest. Too bad about that whole situation!
The Pretender: He was Jarod's father's college room mate's cousin! Not really.
Blair Witch 2: Dude, that's just messed up.
I'm a big Law & Order freak, but because there have been so many episodes, I really can't remember him.
So, what else have you guys seen with Jeffrey Donovan? And what did you think about it? Has anyone attended any of his plays?
vestokes

LOL. His "body" of work.
The Law and Order episode, Good Faith, was repeated on 7/15 and can be found on Itunes. The summary is:
Creen and Cassady suspect arson in a string of church fires, but the discovery of a body in the ruins shifts the focus of the investigation to homicide.

I have seen basically everything that Jeffrey has been in. And just to note. He was Jarod's Brother on the Pretender. Not that father cousin thing.... And I had seen him in Hamlet 2 years ago. Like I said, he's a nice guy. And yes, he is really 6'1 with blue eyes. Although in the show he looks like he has brown eyes. Mostly, people here on this board will remember Touching Evil. Loved the show. It should have lasted but Jeffrey doesn't like all the attention. GO figure that one. He's heading yet another tv show. Guess he better get used to it or this will last just a season. I know he'd rather people just watch and be amused rather than seek out information on him. He'd rather not have the celebrity like mostly every actor/actress in the business. And for most I'd probably expletive them for that comment but coming from him, you just understand it and except it.

what a lovely thread!

I have to admit, I only discovered JD in "Come Early Morning" which I thought was a great movie, and he was fantastic in, and I was so happy to see him on Burn Notice, so now I'm hooked. I can't wait to see all of his previous work - especially Touching Evil, I was just able to watch the TE episode "K" on the "Brilliant But Cancelled" dvd i got from the library.
a most excellent body (and body of work) indeed!

Search him on tvguide.com and you'll come up with the next two weeks of listings in which he's in the cast. Next up: two episodes of Spin City episode on FX at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 EDT. There goes sleeping in on Sunday.

Oh, I dunno; it made me laugh.
The first thing I remember seeing him in was
Homicide: Life on the Street. According to IMDb, the episode was called "Thrill of the Kill" and it was about a serial killer traveling along I-95. I won't spoil the plot twist, but I will say that his acting was completely riveting. Anyone who can hold their own in "the box" with the series regulars is impressive.
But then I didn't see him again until
Touching Evil, and then I was like "Hey, it's that guy!" Much as I loved that show,
Burn Notice is a bit more lighthearted so we get to see more of his sense of humor. And from the interviews, I gather he enjoys working with the writers to develop Michael's character. Fingers crossed that this one will last a while.

Ok, also just to point out and be really silly about this, he's got an awesome body as well. but he was more buffed when I met him. Not that he isn't in this either. He also got allot thinner then when I met him and he was thin then too. I just find it amusing that Gabrielle is 5'1 and they make her look allot taller on the show. Granted she probably wears stilletto's, cuz I am taller than she is and compared to Jeffrey I look shorter than she does and I"m 2 inches taller at 5'3, but that is TV anyway.

It's only natural to want to find out more information on things we like. If we didn't seek out more info on him then how are we to know what all he's done? Let alone go see it all. Honestly, I'm just curious and I have no intention of scavanging for his previous works. I only want to spend time and effort on watching a storyline that piques my interst not just for a particular actor. I did that before and I've gotten over it. And if he doesn't like me researching him then he can just...well, he can't really do anything to me can he? And what he doesn't know won't hurt him.

Yea, he is a bit too thin for my taste. I'm glad he's bulking up a bit as the show progesses, hopefully not "losing his neck" bulk. I can appreciate how handsome he is and I definately love his smile, but I've got certain reservations about his overall physical appearance.

All I meant was that he had more muscle tone when I had met him then he does on this show. Or so it seems and looks like right now. Of course most are going to look up info on the guy but I'm just stating a comment he had made in probably a convaluted way that doesn't make a llot of sense of seeking out more personal information. I know, I'm confusing in this. Sorry. I"ll shut up now.

Thanks FloridaRealtor for the tip on the Spin City episodes this morning. Luckily, I was able to DVR them so I didn't have to get up at 7am on a Sunday - haha! It was interesting to see what Jeffrey looked like 8 yrs ago, which was basically just a little younger and with longer hair. He was still pretty hot back then too!!
I also looked at the TV Schedule for Jeffrey on imdb.com this afternoon, and I see the CSI Miami epsisode he did in 2005 is going to be on the A&E channel next weekend - Fri Aug 10 at 8pm EST, and again at 9pm EST, then again on Sat Aug 11 at 12midnight EST, and again at 1am EST

Skip his walk-on in an episode of "Yes, Dear" -- it's too tough to bear the 30-minute show just to see three seconds of Donovan. He has one line, in that Texan accent, and he's wearing a cowboy hat and boots. Not worth it, unless you like Rascal Flats, the guest star. BTW, I thought "Homer's" accent sounded like west Texas mixed with Buckwheat.
dywhit

Buckwheat?? OMG - too funny. I have to agree that Homer did have a little Buckwheat in him. For those who have seen "Come Early Morning", I thought the Homer character sounded an awful lot like Jeffrey's Cal Percell in C.E.M.

The Pretender had a great premise but the longer the show was on, the more convoluted the underlying "Who Am I" storyline became. So, it's no surprise it wasn't that interesting or understandable.
In any case, here is a preview of Believe In Me from TV Guide.com. The site has a few other excerpts from the movie.

Actually, I was wondering if he was doing any work we can sink our teeth (or eyes, but that would be gross imagry) into while waiting for next summer's Burn Notice. Yes. The smile is still there. Maybe it's just e but I think he looks and even talks different than when he was on Touching Evil. On Touching Evil he has a deeper voice than on BN. He definitely looks much older on BN than he was and looked on Touching Evil.

And in Hitch, he looked so different, talked differently too. There are some actors that no matter what role they play you say, that's whats-his-name playing a cowboy. For example, I will pick on Will Smith. When he's in a role, I can't get past HIM. For those actors you expect only certain types of roles. JD transforms into whomever the character is.
