Ok I have tried to hold back and not post well re-post my dislike at this whole Johnny and Sarah crap. (I think I griped about this about two years ago) I can no longer hold back. So I will start with the first and biggest reason they should not be "together". NO CHEMISTRY. Really if anyone sees chemistry between them please tell me what I am overlooking. There was more chemistry between Johnny and Walt! LOL Ok so now the second reason they should not be together is that this whole "childhood/highschool sweethearts/true love" story between them just doesn't feel solid. Sarah, the way she was originally written, started dating Walt before she was even showing with JJ. Johnny was in a coma, Walt was at the hospital visiting his sick family member, not sure who. I think it was written that the family member died so there was a tragedy for Walt and Sarah and it brought them together. This was the original story of what she did. Also in the second or third ep of the first season Sarah tells Johnny that the timing of when her and walt got together made it appear that JJ was Walt's son and she never said any different. So this Sarah who is supposed to be Johnny's soul mate just gets with a new guy in time enough for others to believe the child she is carrying is walts and she doesn't correct them? I know you are thinking that "yes she corrected the nurse a few eps ago" well that's just a new version of Sarah. Originally she did not even take JJ to see Johnny or at the least tell him about his father. She led him to believe that walt was his father. Now tell me are these the actions of someone who's soul mate is in a coma? I don't think so. If they were so "bonded" and so on then why in the world wouldn't she have been by his side and told their son about him. I can see that taking a child to a hospital where his father is hooked up to machines may be a bit much but telling him about his father is not. Plus other things about her were not likable. Then a season or two later there is an episode where Johnny relives the night of his accident with the help of the psychologist, whom he also had more chemistry with. In this episode it changes Sarah's actions after the accident. It shows her by Johnny's side and crying and saying something like "I am sorry Johnny but JJ needs a father. I am scared I can't raise him alone." So now it's as if she tried to do the right thing but she is watching JJ grow up without a father. So here they have changed her in that she didn't start dating walt before she was even showing. LOL LOL LOL And then of course this season, when Johnny sees a vision of her having JJ and she tells the nurse regarding walt "oh no he's not the father he's just a good friend." But I thought eveyone just assumed that JJ was walt's and she didn't say any different? oh that's right they decided to change that. LOL LOL LOL Well just personally I remember and think of Sarah as she was originally written. Selfish and not someone who's true love is in a coma. OH and the other mistake that was made way back in the first season was they made Walt more likable than Sarah. I don't know about others but I do not have any of the anticipation of Johnny and Sarah getting together except when the writers add in diaglouge to make me think there is chemistry like this whole train episode and all the comments made by Maggie about Sarah. BTW Maggie and Johnny also have more chemistry. Seriously, if it has to be written in for us to be aware of it then it's not really working. It's forced and it feels that way. At least to me. Also is she going to hook up with Johny so soon after Walt died? Oh that's right they jumped through time since then. I am unsure how long it is supposed to have been but I am sure at some point next episode someone will mention it's been nearly a year since walt died so that they can continue to try and make Sarah good. LOL Again I still think of her as she was written in the begining and always will. Really does anyone long for them to get together like X files fans did with Scully and Mulder? I am betting a lot of people will say no, well at least people that watched from the begining and know of the real Sarah. If you came in after the rewrite of her actions then maybe you would want them together. Still there is the problem of NO CHEMISTRY.

Don't get me wrong other than that I think the show is excellent this year. I just wish they would get Johnny and Sarah together since they so desperately want it to happen and get on with telling us about Johnny Smith!!!

Again I just want to say I think Johnny and Sarah have so much chemistry and the back story of Sarah has been so consistent and she is so wholesome and likable. What, did my sudden change of actions confuse you? Sorry I thought since The Dead Zone writers's could do that then I could as well. LOL

I think Magg's in tonight's episode said something about Johnny feeling guilty and that he really should let her go. If finally having a relationship with Sarah will show him that things have just changed to much or that both Sarah and Johnny are seeing each other with different eyes, I say let it happen. One thing that Magg's said to John and she compared John to Phil is that she was able to "betray" him because of his not letting someone go or the memory of that someone. If this (hopefully) is in the future for John that some woman distracts him (one like Maggs with the pearl necklace), then maybe we can get back on track to Armageddon. smile.gif

This is definitely a YMMV thing. I've always thought Johnny & Sarah had plenty of chemistry, and Rebecca (the psychiatrist in the episode where Johnny relived the accident) was stiff as a board.

Also, Sarah was visibly pregnant when she first met Walt. We see her in the hospital during Ascent. When Walt first notices her, it's only a head shot, but later you see her standing in the background. In the early seasons, they kept it vague whether she and Walt married before or after J.J.'s birth. In Speak Now, Sarah visits Johnny for the last time, telling him "our baby is getting so big", but they carefully set the camera so you couldn't see whether that meant she was near delivery or he had already been born. That episode shows that Sarah didn't give up until the doctors insisted she was wasting her time: that Johnny would inevitably die without regaining consciousness. With months of frustration behind her, she accepts that verdict and moves on as if he were dead. This includes letting Walt publically accept J.J. as his own.

I did think from the beginning that, in a small town, half the populace would have known that J.J. was Johnny's son rather than Walt's. It would have been accepted during Johnny's coma, as if Sarah were widowed and remarried, but should have been an item of gossip once Johnny recovered. But TPTB never felt that should be shown.

The fact that she didnt tell him was Johnny's decision in the first season.
Sarah told Johnny that she wanted to tell him way in the beginning
but Johnny said no you've made this life for yourself.
It wasnt till later in the series that Sarah told JJ.
And Johnny did have a chance to take it all back with the
cerial murder eps. He had a vision that Walt was killed back then and him and Sarah got
back together and had two babys.
Knowing that was the wrong thing to do he decided to save Walt.
So I think that they were always suppose to get together.
Though i dont think JJ will ever accept John as real father

I think it is one of the stranger things about "The Dead Zone" that Anthony Michael Hall is often paired with actresses he is unable to generate chemistry with. Sarah Wynter slept-walked through most of her episodes. Jennifer Finnigan didn't have a strong script backing her up and was made to kiss Johnny for no reason other than the fact that she's a girl and Johnny's a boy. I hope things aren't getting romantic with Sheriff Anna Turner, because Hall is definitely not creating any sparks with Cara Buono as of yet, despite Buono being possibly really, really hot. And Nicole DeBoer -- I think the chemistry was definitely in the first two seasons, but once Johnny and Sarah were undeniable, unquestionably just friends and nothing more, the relationship stagnated. Add that to the cast chemistry dissolving badly during seasons four/five due to the standalone episodes with no ongoing characterization, and Hall and DeBoer just haven't been able to find their characters when relating to each other. Sarah's cold numbness in "Heritage" seemed really strained and laboured in the performance to me, and Hall didn't seem to know how Johnny was reacting to that. They found an awkward middle ground in "Big Top" -- admittedly, it was *meant* to be awkward, but I really don't know if I'm all that convinced that Johnny and Sarah have something going on again.

I didn't mind it in "Switch", because the Johnny/Sarah relationship is shown as something Johnny is *committed* to, something he can't ditch in order to go running off with a sexy femme fatale. He has a responsibility to JJ and Hope and Sarah and he can't turn away from that. He takes care of them.

But romance with Sarah? I don't know about that...

From looking at this episode< Numb, and I hope I'm wrong, but the doctor did something bad in Reno and put John in coma to keep him quiet. They're progressing the relationship with John and Sarah to turn romantic again. It can't be that predictable please. Let's hope not...back to watching. Or it's the nurse..

Yes, it can be just that predictable. *gags*

Oh and in response to ireactions: I do think Michael and Nicole have wonderful chemistry. As much as I dislike the Sarah/John character I see nothing wrong with the performances of the actors in regards to the relationship. What I don't like is posted elsewhere. Not that it matters.

I agree, the scenes were well acted. Who could hate AMH in scenes like the last ones. smile.gif I just wasn't crazy about the plot. A few nitpicks. Sarah can sing. She was a music/choir teacher in the very first episode! If I remember she can play some piano but I guess the cello was her instrument of choice. Sarah had some grand plans to be that country music singer too.

Good points about Sarah and I was happy to see the mention of the Cello and the song by The Woods. I had more than a few nitpicks however.

Yes, they could do this for the viewership. Armaggedon is an extremely drawn out theme. The Johnny and Sarah "love theme" has been drawn out even longer. I would like for the "love theme" to hurry up and be resolved...one way or the other. Unfortunately and predictably, we will likely see more twists and turns in relation to the love theme before getting needed resolution and closure.

Great chemistry between Michael and Nicole. Your opinions do matter and I consider them both valid and valued.

The lack of chemistry between characters this season is due to one thing: REALLY BAD WRITINGmad.gif

Somebody should've given the new writers the previous seasons to watch before they were hired. The very first episode as you've said is where they show Sarah as music teacher. Now I'm not sure how it is in the rest of the country, but when I was growing up all my music teachers could play the piano and sing. The scene in "Numb" where Sarah walks into the room and the orderly is playing the piano, he asks her if she plays piano. She says, "No but I play the cello". Ok so it's not important to the plot, but still..... They could've at least watched the pilot.

In the last commentary, the writer said they all were required to watch the eps. They must have not taken very detailed notes of character history such as profession. smile.gif That was a first ep and it should have more carefully noted. Mr. Writer gets a "C" for attention to detail.

I wouldn't call it death throes, it's still a great series, but that is just my opinion, I'm not that picky about details mind you. Got other things or thing to destracked me from that, I rather watch that in detail. tongue.gif wub.gif
As long as the story is good and I like it, that's all that matters to me and right now Season 6 does not dissapoint me. LOVE IT!
