Hello guys,
perhaps you've seen the link in my siggy. If you click it you can read a novel I'm revising at this site. It is SVU related, but not about the show or it's characters. It's a story that had built in my head since I started watching the show.Don't worry I don't pursue plagiarism... it's all of my own.
I've chosen to publish parts of it on this site, because there my work is copyright protected. You're curious? Then click and lemme know what you think.

Hey there newbie! I was a newbie about three months ago, and everyone here is really nice!!
If you're an E/O shipper, definitely check out both the Shipper thread and Fanfiction thread where other e/o (and even Porter/Benson shippers) post!
You'll make friends really quickly. If you want any information and/or question answered, ask and you get great replies. Don't worry if the question sounds stupid, you should see some of the stuff I've posted. Generally Hisgirl will give you a fantastic answer, and Katrose knows the ins and outs of the production/television world; and they're very very nice!
Talk soon!

Welcome SVUfan514! I know exactly what you mean about everyone being like best friends! I started here a year ago and i felt like i was joining a family! Everyone made me feel welcome! I'm not a shipper (one of the worst kept secrets on the board! lol!) but there are a lot of them here, so you'll have lots to talk about!
Another bad kept secret is that i'm not at all impressed with season 8, but season 9 looks promising and all the other seasons were really good! So yes i have to agree with you, I love SVU more then any other show on TV (there BF i admitted it, CI is second, i hope i don't lose my spot as AE Fan club prez over this!).
Well lots to check out! so i hope you enjoy it all!

Actually i did say when i started posting on the CI board that in any argument i would say SVU was better, and i have maintained through all the seasons, that as soon as SVU pulls it's self back together (like it seem to be in season 9) that it would be top of my list again! So i think they already know!

Welcome to the board SVUfan514....you will enjoy it here...Seasons 4,5, and 6 were the best seasons IMO...I didn't like hardly any of the episodes from seasons 7 and 8...I wouldn't go out of my way to watch any of the episodes...but like I said it is just my opinion and everyone knows the saying about opinions...
I have a question for Hisgirl....or anyone who can answer it....
Michael Vick is being indited by the Feds. What is the difference between state court and federal court and if convicted, what can happen to him...he is up on dog fighting charges, that he ran, bred dogs, and bet on dog fights on his property (or property in his name...he doesnt reside at that house).....I was listening to a talk-radio show and a federal atty. was on talking about the case and I didn't hear all of the conversation...but I got the impression that it is tougher for Vick's lawyers to get motions through or have extended wait times for the start of the trial (like until the end of the football season)....

I also heard something on the news last night about dog fighting but I couldn't stay and watch because they were showing of actual fights.
Vick and three other men have been indited by the Feds. If convicted, they could face six years in prison and $350,000 in fines. There are laws against dog fighting on both Federal and state levels, but generally the Feds get jurisdiction if they want it. State and Federal courts follow the same basic procedures. Indictment, pretrial motions, prosecution goes first and must provide enough proof to allow a conviction, defense if any, verdict, sentencing.
The court is under no requirement to allow Vick special treatment because of his football contract. The business of the court trumps football. How much wiggle room he is given will depend on the judge he gets.

Thanks...that is basically what I heard too....I just wanted a little more explaination...
I have one more question...does one, feds or state, make this process of a trial go any faster or quicker....I mean once the feds want to try a case, do they proceed quicker than the state may try the case...and if so, do you think he may have to be in court during football season....

There are so many variables. It depends on what the evidence they have already and what kind of fight the defense is going going to put up about the evidence. Pretrial motions can drag a case out for months, which the defense could do to postpone the trial until after the football season.
But that's also up to the judge. He or she makes the rules for each trial. If the judge wants to move on the trial, everybody has to get their stuff ready on time.

Just off-topic (hey, right THREAD!!)...anyway
The amount of extras SVU (or any law and order) uses, means that I now see characters from the show all over the place.
The other day I was watching Sex and the City, and the cop from Paranoia (hmm...not Karen's partner...but one of the other two cops that rape her) plays a cop in Sex and the City. He's actually really funny!
Also, Sargeant Tucker...or, rather, the guy who plays him, was also in Sex and the City. He played this guy (sleaze'ish) that sleeps with Miranda. He was also quite cute. Better than the bumhole he is in SVU. The whole time he was on screen, I kept hearing Olivia's voice saying "how would you feel if she had your boys in a vice-grip" (Head, Season 5)...LOL!
Anyway...just found it interesting!

Okay, so i have this friend, who's really funny, and stuff, and we were talking on the phone the other night. I was going to tell her about everybody going to get their Harry Potter books and stuff, so i start off the question as
"Oh, Hey, you know what everybodys doing tonight?"
And you know what she says?
"Your mom?" LOL
Now, remember, we're not like 2, and she still pulled that out. I'm sorry, but i had to post that, that had to have been the greatest "Your mom" joke i've ever heard. They're incredibly stupid, but i laughed so hard, probably b/c it caught me off guard. LOL. It was funny.
