Ok, I have a pretty decent sized CD collection --- all bought and paid for over the years, starting probably about 12 years ago. Yes, I remember the very first CD I bought... No, I'm not going to tell you what it was. Hehe...

Anyway...

I've been working on backing up all of my CDs to my external hard drive, so that

(1) I have backups if anything ever happens to the CDs themselves... lost, stolen, heaven-forbid SCRATCHED!!!

(2) I can now bring all of my music anywhere I want to... as long as I have the cables I need, I can plug it in almost anywhere... another computer... a home stereo... etc, etc...

In my entire 800+ CD collection, I have amassed just under 10,000 songs --- 9887, to be exact. I am expecting another 10 or 11 songs to be added pretty soon, actually (Johnny Holland, if anyone's curious) which will push me even CLOSER to 10,000 songs. Now mind you... this is NOT taking into account all the duplicate CDs I have. Of my favorite artists, I WILL purchase more than one copy for myself. However, I do not RIP the duplicates to my hard drive. As long as I have each SONG on my 'puter, I'm good. So that means I have almost 10,000 different songs... by different artists... different versions somehow.

and people say I'm obsessed with Zac! That's simply prepostulous!!! tongue.gif

Oh, and let's play a little game... Anyone care to venture a guess as to how long it will take me to reach the 10,000 song mark???

If you figure I REFUSE to download music, almost as a matter of life-and-death, without fully knowing I WILL purchase the album itself... Knowing that each CD averages 10 - 12 songs... I need 113 more songs to hit 10,000 --- so we'll say 103 more after Johnny's CD arrives... 103 songs is approximately 9 or 10 more CDs I need to purchase to reach my milestone.

Any guesses?

I've been pretty broke lately, tho... so it may take longer than it normally would... but I figure in probably less than 3 months, I'll have 10,000 songs to my name! smile.gif

You've seen why I gave myself that reaction in another thread already... so, I got to thinking... now THAT'S an album I don't already own... since I've now got that song stuck in my head, should I just go ahead and get the CD??? Hehehe... tongue.gif

Alright, I'm an old fogey, and my brain isn't what it used to be.... but did you reach your 10,000th already? Is that why the title says "Finally Complete"? Is "Finally Complete" new, or was that there when you originally posted this thread? What up???
SamIAm
"Finally Complete" was there all along... it signified the fact that all my music is backed up in my hard drive... ALL of it... FINALLY...

I haven't reached 10,000 just yet... and even if I DID, that wouldn't mean my collection was complete... cuz heaven knows I'll just keep adding and adding and adding to it. wink.gif
